Just came from their Flagship Store in Lot 10, enquiring about the balance check of my account. They acknowledge the fact that the self-service accoount checking system is down and even if you check via their 03-83130000 number, the amount reflected would not be accurate. The only way to check accurately is via their internal system available at their stores. Checked mine, I've only used less than RM2, which equates to around 60MB+ of usage.

I hope they fix the online portal so that checking of balance/usage is self-service to the customer.

this is call marketing strategy... ask a IT savvy person like me and i'll tell u the true story.

go wired broadband, if got maxis wired go for it it's the best so far. Then streamyx 2nd.

P1 so far ok, depends on area.

the other 3G wireless for normal surfing dont expect extra.

Wrong. Streamyx no. 1 for me. It all depends on area. Generally, Streamyx is still the best...no cap and can get good speed.

Within 2 to 3 hour they only will reply.

Wrong. It was up for some folks, they can login into their pre-registered account yesterday, but their account balance is inaccurate. My buddy's account balance, when he logged into, shows -RM50 balance! I called their call center and went through the process of inputting my account details and got an account balance of RM0. The system is up, but the accuracy of the data isn't there yet. I'm not gonna go crazy with downloading at this time, I'll wait until their system is up and running with traceable data balance.

The fastest way right now is not email, but Twitter. They have dedicated Twitter account named @Yes4G and @YesCare, and I've gotten response from them about my enquiry on account balance in less than 15 minutes of posting the tweet to them. However, since they're swamped with multiple requests of varying scope, they've promise to either get back t me via Twitter itself or the contact details I've provided to them.

in case anyone wondering how to top up when you ran out of credit.

once you're connected to YES network and ran out of credit, it will redirect you to reload page.

but the problem is, this is pay as per you use service package. and the user can't even login to view the usage like, each time hv to call? what are the chance they will pick up ur phone if u find something fishy on the charges?

it's like u ordered a cup of coffee at a premium cost, n u r yet to serve. when u ask when is my coffee be ready, they tell u just wait la.. we trying hard to make ur coffee now.

see that?! big gun like YTL should be doing far better than this... especially on the SLA. they hv to indicate response time for each client, even if can't resolve, still an announcement has to be made so we know what's the status, and they r following up the issue. rather than, we tweet, DM, txt, call for answer which everyone is asking now.

1) If they remove the "must use min RM30 every month/month" (MUR) then i will consider Yes
2) If they don't deduct my balance if i don't use min RM30/month, then i will consider Yes

- You see, if i bought the device, let say i bought it at 1/12/2010, i paid for RM99 (usb) + RM50 = RM149
- Then i topup RM30, download alot of stuff to utilize my RM30 in a month... now my balance = RM0
- Okay finish 1 month already, now i enter 1/1/2011
- I receive RM10 (remember the RM10 x 10 month if you buy usb dongle), so in my account got balance RM10
- I dont use YES anymore, because i dont have money la, i bankrup la, i dont work no money la, bla bla bla
- until March 2011, suddenly i menang nombor, not much RM100 only, then i topup RM100 to use YES
- Then check balance = RM10 , this is the balance i can use after i topup RM100
- THen i say WTF ???
- THen i say,, fakit laaa... dont want to use it for 100 days,
- Then, when after 100 days dont use YES, i want to use it lah, and want to topup.
- Then, YES say "Sorry sir, you account has been de-activated because of has been not active for 90 days, if you want to re-activate you account, please pay for the activation fee, RM50. You can still use your old number or a new number sir"
- THen i say, WTF x 2

vmad.gif

THis is because i dont use yes for 2 months, means i hutang sama YES RM60, the the latest topup after 2 months is :

RM100 (menang toto RM100) - RM60 (2 bulan tak pakai YES) - RM30 (RM10 x 3 month) = RM10

So, for those yang sudah pakai YES, speed was goooood, but REMEMBER, please MAINTAIN/TOPUP RM30 every month thumbup.gif
If not you will say WTF later .... believe me smile.gif

IF .. IF .. IF YES remove the 2 items above, i will consider to use YES ... just for my backup internet

Other celcos have to offer extended validity period (eg. one year) as required by MCMC.

Will the MCMC also force YES to offer the same?

for people testing using speedtest.net try to choose Bandar Seri Begawan which is currently the best server since KL server give 'unrelisble' speedtest I must say, even in Lot10 it give very low speed!
There could be reasons behind this, when you do the speedtest do you notice that instead of testing from KL where you are from the location is in Sarawak? Perhaps YES network are hosted in Sarawak?

I had a horrible time signing up for it... from last night until noon had troubles getting my Huddle to connect. Light remained a solid red. After noon, suddenly it became green. That's a bloody long time for an account to be activated.

It's fantastic in Bukit Anggerik, Cheras. Can constantly get 600 KB/s to 800 KB/s. Green LED, full bar.

Then I went to office around 4PM, Jaya One Block B... signal LED switches between yellow and red. Data transfer was not really that stable, but when the connection jalan, did about 150 KB/s to 250 KB/s. But from 7 PM onwards suddenly the connection speed up despite signal LED staying on yellow - getting about 500 KB/s to 600 KB/s constant on downloads.

And all of my downloads are international downloads... actually the local peering is quite horrible so there's no real "local downloads" to be had with YES4G. The paths to my TMNet, Jaring and even Singaporean server all go to the US and back.

It's not 4G but it's definitely seriously a class above my experience with HSDPA connections.

Some traceroutes for you:

QUOTE(miskin @ Nov 23 2010, 08:08 PM)
