The Alibaba look like wholesale for me. So I thaught they don't serve you if you want in small qty.

Anyway the CREE model only avaiable in US and not others country. The famous CR6 downlight is only have 120v. Now thinking how to modify it.

They do, you just need to post the right question.

Hi guys, I have a 24 feet X 15 feet living hall, total size is 360 sq ft.
I wanted to build a L Box surrounding the living hall which will form a shape of rectangle, the wiring man suggested to install total 16 downlights at the L Box area. My questions are:
1) Is 16 downlights too many for a 360sq ft living hall?
2) If the number of downlights is 16, should I use 4" or 6" downlights?
3) What wattage should I use for the bulb if there's 16 downlights? go for lower watt?

Please look at these pictures to get an rough idea of my wiring layout.

1) The spacing of the wiring from the side wall is too near. At least 3' away from the side wall.
2) If you ceiling height is no more than 15', 4" (more units) or 6" should be fine. If you want, and I presume you have plaster ceiling, just get them to lower it to 13' which will make a whole lot of difference. But if you want to feel of spaciousness then you will have to have a higher ceiling. Just remember, when it is time to change a fuse bulb, it will be a real hassle.
3) Your wire man is making a killing here as he is going to charge you for each light point.
4) Besides that, when he install the downlight, he will probably charge you another fee. The more downlight the more $$$.
5) You also need to spend more to purchase downlight and bulb

Thanks man, I appreciate your advice.
The width of the L Box to be installed is 2 feet, I plan to install just 8 downlights instead of 16. gonna pick those 6" downlights.

Bro waikee thx for the tip .. I took the option of getting from them as I wasn't sure how much t5 was needed plus I think the overall cost would be cheaper - minus the fact that they are charging me * 10 light points sad.gif

without the T5 would be 55 per point if not mistaken .. I wanted to ask the brand their using but always forgot sad.gif

Btw LDP - I found a good quality round downlight.. made by panasonic.. build quality I think is way better than what I normally see .. with champagne reflector ..

Found it in a shop at puchong .. the only drawback it is on the expensive side.

I bought some in small quantity to test because I really liked it .. If anyone knows where I can find this at a more reasonable price would be great.

T4 tubes are hard to find coz there is no standard length from all the manufacturers. would advise to change to T5, as this is easily available, and all the tubes are of standard length, no matter which brands.
Do you have a lot of T4 to replace?

Those cree in alibaba is using the cree LED component. Not the whole downlight. They buy the LED component and design the housing and driver themself.

Cree did manufacturing downlight itself. but don't think sale in alibaba. Their famous reliable CR6 downlight model is popular in western country.

does Cree have downlights? As far as I know, they only manufacture chips, and they leave the full products to other OEMs. yup, they have the best LED chips around, and many China lamps manufacturers use their chips. but dun know if they really use Cree or not :-(. do you have the US link for Cree where they manufacture downlights?

just search for Cree.

They have few model of downlight. The most famous model is cr6 with 576lumens, 10.5w. Consider very bright compare the same class. this model not selling in others country. And only In 120v. Those 240v selling in Hk and aus are overprice.

Just order 1 from us.

Hi Ozak,

so how are you planning to install the 120v here ?

Will use some sort of convertor ? I think it wouldn't work without somekind of modification right?

I tried contacting cree sales rep and even their CEO (Chuck_Swoboda-at-crxx) last time and it seems that they don't have plans for a 220v version.

they only have lr6 which is on the expensive side..

at least cr6 is a bit reasonable especially the rebadge homedepot

If they offered the cr6 in 220v version at a similar price, I would have bought a few ..

hopefully they would change their minds for our market if there's a lot of demand ..

Yes, their lr6 220v is overprice. But this model have a 1000 lumens. The brightness so far.

I try get 1 and modify the driver. I intend to run it on DC voltage. Just try and error.

Thanks for your answer. What lengths do they come in?
I guess T5 much more convenient ho cause no need for ballast and can daisy chain together?
