Guys, if I were to modify my room's normal lighting point to a 4 down light points, Will the electrician charge rm50x4 =rm 200 ? If this is the case, it's too expensive.. I thought he will just need to loop the lighting points and it should be cheaper, about rm20-30 per loop? Any idea?

The alternative is use CFL.

at the moment, there is no guarantee for LED. how long they can last is anyone's guess. Even the Osram LED bulb, it is written 3years guarantee, but when you check the website, it says only warranty in Europe. why? Europe's current is more stable, here, variance can be big. so LED can rosak.

LED now have wide range in prices. Cheap ones may not necessary rosak faster, but the lumens drop, i.e. gets dimmer as times flies. Find out more info in the net, then u can get a clearer picture.

Hi, I would like to seek opinions from the experts here...
My ceiling height is only 100" and planning to use 4" downlight without glass..
what is the suggestive distance of each downlight?
I prefer bright environment

If you're using 4" downlights and want a bright environment, I would say at least 4-5 feet distance.

I just would like to know if there is a wiring problem for the downlights (plastered ceiling), will it cause the energy saving bulbs lifespan to be much shorter than expected?

Hope to hear some advice. Thank you.

Wiring won't cause problem to your bulbs. Wiring problem cause your power trip and short.

Bulb problem is from quality of the bulb and the over voltage problem.

What is your bulb lifespan now?

To some people one year is short, for me one year is consider ok for bulb without ballast when install at place need to switch on and off frequent.

What bulbs are you using? With our without ballast? Without ballast energy saving bulb won't last long especially on off too frequent.

Thanks for the replies... i only found out that there is a dimmer connected to the energy saving lights. I suspect without me knowing it may cause the voltage not being stable... and causes flickering that i did not notice. That's why the light bulb goes off fast.
By the way, if i'm not mistaken the bulbs are only 2-3months old that's why it is a bit odd.

Need to remove the dimmer connection... and monitor this senario.

Thanks again.
