Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread, but whoever's thinking about signing up for a 4 mbps package at the TM authorized reseller at One Utama, don't. They are gonna take your application and store it somewhere in their drawers for dust collecting. I called up TM today and they said my application had not even been processed. I trust the TM guy because he seemed pretty trustworthy. I also asked the guy at OU 3 days ago about the status of my application and he said he'd call TM and get back to me, but he didn't. I even left him my handphone number instead of my house, so there's no excuse. Honestly I don't even know why he works there. doh.gif

Yup. Just a warning so you guys don't waste your time.

hey, i keep reading that its possible to ask tm to rewire the wiring from hse to pole.

do they charge for this service?

and usually is there a noticeable improvement in line quality?

thanks. =)

Yes its possible to ask them. They will charge for the service, but its not that expensive. There will be improvement if your current line is unstable since most of the wires are old, a new one would definitely show improvement. However if your looking to improve your line quality, an in-house wiring should be consider since that would definitely show an increase in line quality (if its an old house, new house no need).

Also there are times where the phone socket could cause unstable line (e.g. mine, changed it and significant line improvement), figures since it got lightning'd so changing it would help. If you don't mind spending a couple of bucks and currently your line is unstable, why not do a bit of maintenance.

I got them to replace the line from the pole to my house when I complained that my phone has too much static (crackling sound). If your phone sounds fine, just tell them it happens intermittently esp when the weather's bad. Do not complain that your streamyx connection sucks. Streamyx and phone line are 2 different departments under Telekom. Big difference in streamyx stability after line changed!

You need to storm TMPOINT branch in Uptown. I get immediate results.

Don't waste time with resellers, they only know how to take commission only.

Hmm, that's pretty nearby. I'm from BU 10. biggrin.gif

And I did check with TMPoint in Uptown today on the availability of 4 meg in my area, but the receptionist told me that BU 10 isn't covered. I found that a little odd considering I checked this year on the status page of my modem and it read "4096/512". If I'm not mistaken, that means 4 meg is supported, right? It used to read "1024/256". Also, my mum called in earlier this year to ask about the package and the workers at TM told her that 4 meg was available here, but to hold back because they were upgrading the cables.

Thing is, I've tried to upgrade once, and that was last year when 4 meg wasn't available here. I have a feeling they might just be checking my old records and concluding that my area isn't supported. I told her to check again but she kept insisting she was right. It also kinda seemed as if she and a trainee were trying to sell me Unifi, so I don't know; I might just be paranoid. rclxub.gif

Sorry if my post isn't related. Just asking about the 4meg.

I applied for this Uni students pack thingy and they asked me to get a new line because what sort of cooling period to clear old data packets thingy need 1 month, so 1 month without internet.

So they come and fix a new line for me which can be used for iTalk. Pole to my house by the way.

Now I am waiting for their appointment for streamyx account activation, how do I fasten the process? Head down to TMPoint?

One more question, what is the requirement to "support" 4 meg?

They told me my area might not be supported.

I just went to TM Point Ampang upgrade my current 4 Mbps RM 160 to new blockbuster packages RM 140

Just to take note that this upgrade does not entitle new free DECT Phone given due to my existing package RM 160

TM Installer will send a new modem to your house in 3 days to 7 days from the date of upgrade

Please insist on the MIPS Upgrade Printed Order no before you leave TM Point as proof of upgrade already key in their system

Please ask for the pro rate date of ur billing of new bills because if u made calls before the pro rate u will be charged by TM

Attached Image

Total saving per year RM 20 x 12 = RM 240 per year
