They are few tips getting 4.0 Mbps to your house, ask the technician to come to your house and check ur line capability ( Sometimes TM.Nut won't entertain this ) But i managed to fix 4.0 Mbps even though my house is not in their System for 4.0 Mbps. This will take a lot of effort for them to do it. Do remember u mess be less than 2km from DSLAM to support 4.0 Mbps otherwise it won't work. They will check your ADSL status latency to confirm your line support or not.

<To repeat my post from v3, in case the closing means no one saw it>

Just need a quick comment, tech came yesterday and installed a 512kbps line although I applied for 4 mbps (usual TM cock-up!).

Anyway, I asked him to check the line. The modem says SNR is 25db and attenuation is 35db. He is saying the SNR is good, but the attenuation is marginal, that I shouldn't go for 4 mbps as the attenuation will go up, and the line will be unstable. So he recommended for me to upgrade to only 2 mbps.

Any comments/advice?

Not recommended to go for 4mbps. You'll get faster speed, sure, but most likely you'll face a lot of disconnection issues. Your attenuation is too high. What is the rest of the statistic (specifically Rate(kbps))?

your line is capped at 4Mbps already... it's your username/password that determines your capped speed now which is around 2Mbps. I recommend you to stay with your 1Mbps for now. smile.gif
