I think i'll wait a couple of years for 4Mbps's price to come to 1Mbps. Its gonna happen and I cannot wait.

hey, i keep reading that its possible to ask tm to rewire the wiring from hse to pole.

do they charge for this service?

and usually is there a noticeable improvement in line quality?

thanks. =)

Yes its possible to ask them. They will charge for the service, but its not that expensive. There will be improvement if your current line is unstable since most of the wires are old, a new one would definitely show improvement. However if your looking to improve your line quality, an in-house wiring should be consider since that would definitely show an increase in line quality (if its an old house, new house no need).

Also there are times where the phone socket could cause unstable line (e.g. mine, changed it and significant line improvement), figures since it got lightning'd so changing it would help. If you don't mind spending a couple of bucks and currently your line is unstable, why not do a bit of maintenance.

My attainable rate shows 10Mbps and yet TMPoint people says that my application cant be processed because the system shows that my house is not near the exchange point or whatnot. should i try another tmpoint?

Because chances are 4Mbps is running on a different port (which is mostly Adsl2+) hence even if you get 10Mbps currently you still won't be able to upgrade since the port your on isn't equipped for 4Mbps.

Good luck trying to ask TM for more port, ain't gonna happen unless there's 10+ people just like you. Same s*** everywhere so don't worry, its not new smile.gif

looks like 1 out of 10 people are not affected... or maybe not affected yet.

this problem seems to have gotten worse with the launch of unifi.

unifark la.

The cap seems to be ip-based. I've tested before using speedtest.net for 115 and 175 ip range. Result is 115 being capped and 175 uncapped. I'm guessing thats how TM manages their capping and definitely would answer why cooperate/business/unifi/4Mbps and some 1Mbps user (since they sometimes does share the same ip range) are not getting capped.

Now i'm not saying that the whole 175 ip range is uncapped, but for my particular 175 ip range, it seems to be. A few days back I got a different 175 ip range and it too got capped so i'm just as suprise as to what the hell's going on.

Guess we are talking about TM and thus there's always going to be temporary "fixes" for certain people with certain problems and these "fixes" might explain why they are not affected. Maybe TM technician got bored and tired of the same rant and decided to move normal home users to certain cooperate/business ip range? And when TM decided to do the massive capping they didn't thought about this? (as usual, half-ass work from TM. Same with unifi capping at the beginning.)

Just my 2 cents.

it's a trap! oh wait nvm laugh.gif

Contact your 4Mbps installer and tell him to check it out. You have 2 weeks guarantee from them (installer personal guarantee). If they say wait 2 weeks then tell them stop bsing and come here or you'll report his ass smile.gif

OIC, thanks! I understand what you mean now.  smile.gif
If it is real, then 1.2TB is definitely enough for me.
I'm occasionally a little BitTorrent, but not much...  biggrin.gif

Read again, that's not the quota, thats the "data" (*cough* bullshit *cough*) that TM came out with (on the monthly basis). The quota is not yet set and you'll definitely piss your pants when they do.
