wonder if can report to BNM that they misuse our privacy by selling to other departments within the same organisation for offering other services.

Instead, BNM should come out a guide or rule that allows consumers to choose not to be contacted for any promotion or offers.

this is merehsia.....i think they wouldn't too bother about privacy

GST is to pay government....so not possible to waive

annual fee MAYBE possible but usually they won't cause it cost them money to issue credit card

unless u spend alot on their card (they earn money) they will probably waive it to keep you as customer then you can cancel the card once they waive the anual fee

they do that so that they can keep your friend as customer....your friend probably spend alot on his/her card...they dont increase your credit limit if he/she don't use it

you didn't use the card...they don't have profit....they probably wont waive for you even you threaten to cancel the card

you are not much of a good customer to them

The chance of getting approved for high limits is to submit payslip that has change in base pay (increment for instance).

It is almost a sure thing that credit card annual fee can be easily waived nowadays. As a matter of fact, nobody is paying any credit card annual fee anymore.

Not really. There are many who do not use their cards frequently but still can easily get the annual fee waived.

Do understand GST need to pay gov. If consumers refuse to pay then who you think is paying ? It is the bank. Bank has to get back the RM50 somehow la ... so they assume customers will use their cards. And like any other commercial entity ... they need to recover this somehow. I am quite upset that many come in here and ask how to cancel this charge ... if you really hate this charge then don't use credit card. Gov will definitely not get any money from you. But let's be practical living in the new age - if you want it then be prepared to pay for it. Freebies means something is being compromised or someone else is paying for you.

No other bank want to follow UOB coz they practice better risk management policy to protect themselves from risky customers. Just look @ the number of forummers here who say they need to do BT or have huge cc debts. Part of the cause is high CL and don't know how to control spending habits.

Other banks don't want to follow UOB fine and they are smart not to be taken in by your friend's threat to cancel tactic.

Sigh ...

Totally agree..RM50 for me is nothing..just make it as service charge of using the card..nothing is free in this world..

Consumer privacy is never protected. Read the highlighted part and you will find Bank can do anything to your info rclxub.gif
Let's see what is written in Terms and Condition (Just an example, taken from CIMB website here):

Don't get the info twisted!!
At 1st you are saying your friend get GST offset by getting cash back for swiping "few times" in a month.
Then you said UOB waived GST? In which point the GST got WAIVED???

Please get the info right and don't confuse others by spreading your false sentence, getting cash back is not equal to waiving GST.
Think about who pay the GST and who pay your friend the cash back. doh.gif doh.gif

Do consider that a lot of people read this thread to get information. It doesn't help many post all sort of confusing statements which is not very accurate. Post something which is based on fact ... not heresay or you assume it is correct. Be responsible for the information that you post coz this involves personal finance.

It is not funny anymore if someone get burned by reading the wrong info here.

You may cancel but you still need to pay RM50... if you have point better use point to waive it before cancel...
