Bro, no worries ... the forum wont die ... these few days everyone busy with CNY activities and long holidays ma, so expected to have little activities here  nod.gif

I think after people getting their cars, they will have more to share on FC, any potential issues, and needless to say MODS!!! biggrin.gif ... In order to really enjoy my Forte, i am doing one mod at a time ... slowly and enjoy the process ... just to share with you guys my mods in the pipeline for the next 6 months:

1. Sharkfin Antenna
2. Change SX emblem to SLi emblem to complete my exterior mod to original Korean version
3. DIY front door courtesy light
4. Apply 303 Aerospace Protectant on the dashboard, 3rd break light panel, head and tail lights, bumpers (grey plastic area), the rubber trim for windows and doors and lastly the tires & rims.
5. K&N Air Filter

Not to mention the huge discounts that the SA give to Spectra buyers over the years. That dragged the price even lower. So that's why there will be no more discounts for Naza Kia cars, to protect the buyers.

I've been "on & off" checking this thread since end Jan 2010.

I've checked out this Forte baby @ Naza, Shah Alam. It's sleek & fabulous.
So, all the Forte on the road now are 1.6 EX or SX only?
2.0 still no sign....how come? Is there any problem with our government or Kia/Naza?

Now, I am considering of getting one, but before hand, would like to know, beside the low resell value, is there any other flaws - quality issue, problem in electrical stuffs & others?
*
Resale value is dependent on the demand. Over here in Australia the resale value for Forte (and other Korean cars with the exception of i30) is appalling. I've only seen 3 other Fortes, 1 Koup, and 2 Souls on the roads so far. Civics and 3s are all over the roads and it's little wonder that they don't depreciate as much; a 3 year old Civic VTi can still fetch 18-19KAUD easily while a 1 year old Forte will cost the same or even less.

Quality wise, it seems that Malaysian and Singaporean Fortes tend to suffer from headlamp condensation problems. I have no such issues with Cera after 2 months with distances of 80km daily. The only issue I have is an occasional but pretty frequent "tick-tick-tick" rattle which occurs when going through rough surfaces. After searching around various forums it seems that it could be (1) gap between the glovebox lid and the dash (2) air con compressor. I tried driving with the glovebox open and it still persists, hence it's likely to be (2). It's not really a major problem as most of the time the rattle is overwhelmed by my music's bass biggrin.gif

Calculated FC again for the past week... Same 8L/100km with RON91. Don't think I will try "Premium" RON95 as it costs 20 cents more i.e. an extra 7 bucks weekly which will exceed what I save from a theoretical lower FC.

Collected my Forte SX (Titanium Silver) on CNY eve and balik kampung! Buatan: NAZA Tahun: 2010. Have been enjoying the ride since then ... SUPERB! Btw, is our Forte equipped with "Seat Belt Warning"? I don't see the warning light .....

natural history of naza.........

naza has always discounted their old stocks when sales drop after a couple of years......that's their business model......in the days when cars are launched as kia, and gets nazarised later, that discount is HUGE........

with the possible exception of suria/picanto........even then, before the facelift, it is easy to get a few k off too, but it is a low cost car, so the discounts cannot be much.........

in 2 years, when sales drop, expect significant discounts.........which will automatically devalue you old cars by a similar margin.........

it is best that all buying forte now have the full expectation that the car WILL get 'nazarised' a few years later.......keep the car at least 8-10 years and you will be okay......... smile.gif

Well, that's the way it used to be I guess. But I heard this from my SA from Naza World. She said nowadays, if an SA is caught giving discount to customers, they will get sacked. So, it's quite difficult for them to give discounts with that kind of incentive. And this Forte is already "nazarized" from day 1, coz it's launched as Naza Forte, not Kia Forte. So i guess the price couldn't get lower than that right? And I believe the management have taken a change for the better, as they couldn't be so stupid to not learn from their past mistakes.

I have faith in them, as all the moves that they made nowadays with the Peugeot and Kia brand, I believe they will go a long way from the "old" Naza. I mean, give credit where it's due man. Which car company in Malaysia can sell good cars such as the Forte and Peugeot 308 Turbo at the current price tag? At the very least, they give us another option to ponder upon, other than Toyota, Honda and Nissan (and the national car makers as well). smile.gif

lesson in history..........

about 10+ years ago, nazakia brought in a 2.5l mpv called the carnival as cbu from korea, and sold it for rm170k........a few years later, they 'localised' the car, ckd in msia with some local parts, and was given 'local car' status, with cheaper duties.........and relaunched the mpv as the ria priced at 90k.........

overnight, people who bought carnival finds the second hand value of their car dropped by 70k...........

this has been repeated several times since.........

this is called nazarisation.........
