whoa u guys talking abt 2nd hand price when the car model still so new in the market. maybe u can restart this topic in another 2 years or so when the cars have aged and the reliability and durability tests start showing up?

imho i think the forte will do well with the younger generation. dun mention it to yr parents, they will always think korean made cars dun return good value haha

Well..My teory is like this..Korea car u pay less $$ to buy it and u get less resale value when u sell it. For Jap call u pay more $$ (overvalue) to buy it,then u get more when u sell it..So u just get back what u have pay extra(overvalue)

Eg.Rondo 2.0 RM 84,888 vs Innova RM 100k+
If u compare, both car almost have weight, width & same CC
5 years down the road,if u tell me Innova resale value is more then 20k+ compare to Rondo..Well that is not suprise at all, because u pay extra 20k+ to bought it that time..If u want to count more in details, include the bank Interest.Innova owner is lossing $$ at the end..

QUOTE(limeuu @ Feb 17 2010, 11:40 PM)
the 2nd generation sportage was introduced in 2004, but launched in msia in mid 2007...........and discounted in 2nd half 2009..........

so i wouldn't call it 'ancient'.........

the fact remains, when forte gets 'ancient', guess what naza will do........and what will happen to your 2nd hand value........... biggrin.gif

of course you can always believe it's a 'new' nazakia nowadays, and they will not nazarise forte.......if it makes people feel better.......

me, i face the facts........

Added on February 17, 2010, 11:46 pm

nazakia does 2 things to prices of cars........

one is, they rebadge kia cars as 'local' naza brand with a significant drop in import duty, and a dramatic drop in the price of cars new, dragging existing owners down with it.......

the other is, they do heavy discounts once the car is a bit old, stocks build up, and demand drops........again heavily impacting on the 2nd hand price of existing owners.......

both has the effect of depressing 2nd hand prices of their cars.........

that's what i mean by nazarise..............you WILL suffer greater drop in 2nd hand value over natural depreciation because people can buy NEW ones at a cheaper price than what you paid for.........

generally, other manufacturers do not do this, well not this much anyway, which is why toyotas (caveat:maybe not anymore  smile.gif ) and hondas keep their value well..........you cannot buy NEW vios at heavily discounted prices......even when they are introducing new models, the discount for the old generation is minimal.........

Added on February 18, 2010, 12:01 ami will give you my personal example........

bought a 1st gen sportage in 2000 at 90+k.........

sold it in 2005.........they stop selling new sportage in 2002, and sold off old stock at 70+K........by natural depreciation (even for koreans), i should be able to get 40+k at least........

but all i could get from the private sale was 33k...........dealers want below 30k.........because they calculate based on 70+k new............

Sportage is an ancient model. Whoever bought sportage last year for example? With the Rondo and Sorento being a much better choice, only an idiot would buy it. And dude.. you're thinking too much. Just because the second hand price of your Sportage bite you in the ass, doesn't mean that all naza cars will do that to it's owners. Why don't you keep your speculation in like, 5 years time, and you create a Naza thread here. Then we'll can see wether your theory is proven or not. Maybe Toyota and Honda (currently) keep their price well, but they're overpriced to begin with, so it's nothing to shout about.

The forte has already been rebadged.. In case you don't know.. smile.gif

yo bro there's many forte owners in puchong area! actually i feel its mostly in puchong... maybe gotto do with puchong ppl seeing the Naza showroom everyday to & back from work so more willing to give them a try since so many yrs later the center still standing and more Naza cars on the road. it also helped that Rondo paved the way for Forte to have better sales...

wah, few days didnt lepak here then everybody talk about 2nd hand value..

For me, car is really a liability. it's also a personal favourite. i wont think of selling by the time of buying as long as u r comfortable with ur choice. and choice always drive by 70~80% of emotion... hahahaha!!
I bought tis car mainly for its feature, stability, safety! All these points are way better than my previous city! exp the two later points r the priority for me.. my family.. laugh.gif

NO REGRET!!! thumbup.gif

For your info,

Pls take note of the different classes of vehicles:-

SORENTO = LARGE/MID SIZE SUV
SPORTAGE = COMPACT SUV ( same class as honda CRV)
RONDO = MID-SIZE MPV
CITRA = COMPACT MPV
RIA = LARGE MPV

As u can see in Naza-Kia website, sportage is still on sale...it is a continuous model.

no way to save lar other than driving smoothly. use ron95 to really save money with ahpek driving style.
ron97 expensive even the extra kms are offset by the higher price so not much savings.
the car is running fine with ron95 worst fc is with shell. try others with eazy access in your area.
*
It depends on the driving style but engine also makes a lot of difference.

I tested with my previous new saga, Ron95 get more mileage than Ron97 with the same roads and same style. Whereby, Honda City, with Ron97 I can get more mileage than Ron95.

I usually pump RM40, so with City, it means I get less litres for Ron97 but it gives me more distance/power compare to Ron95. If Forte can do the same, I would love to pump Ron97 instead of 95, right?

I'll test it and report it back here to share with you guys. By the way, I use Petronas, Shell tend to gives a louder engine noise to me.

second that. shell is super lousy these days.
dont be fool with their marketing gimmick.

the only good about them is many stations available like petronas.

i've only test once for ron97. better mileage i can get.
but prefer use them on highway. if 100% city drive i guess will not make much differences

anyone can suggest a suitable alarm for forte ?

i get in here:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1295613

QUOTE
Dear bro,

Did you all already install the alarm system for your kia forte?

One kia service workshop had quoted me the alarm system as below:-

Product name: K-secure OEM remote alarm system
product code: KS-1
Price: RM 490
-2 remote control to arm/disarm alarm
-panic button
-lock door when brake
-code hopping remote control

glass break snesor
product : KS-s-2
security upgrade to detect instrusion from glass break
Rm125

product movement sensor
product: KS-S-3
Price: RM 225
security upgrade to detect interior instrusion

Any commend on this?

Note: installation of third party accessories other that naza kia sdn bhd may void new vechicle manufacturer warranty.
its mean for 1.6 SX ... we need to add KS-s-2 and KS-S-3 right ?

Looking forward for your report. If RON 97 petronas is proven more economical, gives more mileage/power etc..
we shall go for RON97. nod.gif

I'd prefer integrated remote meaning one remote for all if any.

stockyard tyre pressure = 350kpa
recommended tyre pressure = 220kpa

just put the pump and it will release/adjust the air pressure accordingly
