I also didn't get the free 'preview' of HBO HD till April this year. sad.gif
Anyway, that's expected as I only have the learning and sports package..

My place here in Sarawak now mostly installation with ODU 60 (old type) as ODU 65 running out of stock. As per CS, can always request to change later when ODU 65 got stock.

From Sarawak here, they gave me the 60cm one, then I file a complaint while showing signal strength to be below average. Few days later they change mine to 65cm.

Make an effort to chase Astro CS till they give you the new dish.

I called the CS and complained why I was not given the ODU 60 when the installer came. I was told by CS that ODU 65 was out of stock. Will check back next week if ODU 65 was available. If yes, then definitely will ask for a replacement at their cost as my 'new' wasn't even installed yet as the installer came around 7p.m and I don't want him to risk a fall from my house roof.

B-yond deoder finally installed last evening after more than 3 weeks from registration.

Registered on 17 dec
T&c confirmation on 23 dec.

Installer is very helpful and I am very satisfied with his overall service. Replaced my ODU dish with new 65cm dish and the old cabling.

All in, took him less than 30 mins to install. He commented that Signal reading at 244 is ver good.

All in my family is enjoying the programmes from the new decoder.

Actually, it depends. Some really old movies are even converted to a proper HDTV format (but Indiana Jones was great).

You see The Naked Gun / Footloose and compare it with some of the more modern movies and the difference is obvious.

I believe the non-HD movies are really SD at 4:3.

hello peeps,

anyone of u still having the component output distorted issue? i'm still having it and it really annoys the hell out of me.

If you guys havent know, you can boot the setup box to initiate auto update to happen by pressing the on/off, channel down, and channel up button one by one (front panel of the STB, not through remote) or to put it simple, press all 3 buttons from left to right one by one...the STB will off by itself, and boot while checking if there is a need to auto update.

During that period, it will display a banner saying "setting up STB", through component it looks fine, the moment it shows the tv guide banner with the video...the picture starts to get distorted... geez still a little annoyed with this problem.

Any idea how to solve this component output mess?

7th afternoon T&C ppl called
8th installer called and confirm 9th 11am

OK, as confirmed, they come in today 9th 11:30am
installation took around 30 minutes, change everything, dish, cables, decoder and remote control. Then the installer contact CS to activate my new sim, just 2-4 minutes CS called back n everything is done.

I am having the same problem as what you described but with the HDMI output. Mine is not watchable so I connect using component output which work very well. Cannot set HD with component output.

So I pay extra to watch Astro Byond Standard Definition for now. The only consolation is that the PQ on component output is better than the S video with the previous decoder.

Firstly, is your HDMI option on B.yond turned on? If not, call Astro and get them to turn it on. Yes, it has to be Astro that can turn it on.

Secondly, if it is already turned on but you still can't get picture, there can be a variety of problems.
1) Bad HDMI port. Could be on B.yond or on your TV. So change the HDMI input to see if it works.
2) Could be a bad HDMI cable. IF you have a spare HDMI cable, use that to see if it improves.
3) The most expensive problem. Your HDTV is not HDCP capable.

I think your third answer is most probable cause. When updating firmware (under low res) it work fine but blank screen with normal program. My plasma is about 4 years old, so it could be not compatible with astro HDCP. I have been using it with PS3 playing Bluray without any problem.

You see, buy too early pay the price for "bleeding edge technology" loll
