Hmmm. So far the PS3 can let you play 1080i video via component but needs HDMI to play 1080p. Check online resources or your manual to see if your TV has HDCP with its HDMI input.

Did you get an error saying "Copy Protection Failed" over a blank screen, or just a pure black screen? If latter most likely your TV not compatible with 1080i res. Try 720p. Because if HDCP fail got error message over a black screen.

It's a known problem. People who complained to Astro was told to contact HBO directly. So do that.

Eh, that style of censorship already literally last decade. Astro used it up until 2006-2007. After that they changed it to 10 second delay. According to Astro it's HBO that's delaying the transmission by one hour, and we must complain to them to make them stop. Besides, no point delaying one hour on HD when on SD the show time is correct.

Not quite true on censorship. TRUE that any content gets censored first but viewing and censoring are done using BetaHD. It's very quick. Also to some degree, the tapes may contain clean language instead of the R-rated ones.

Once the tape passes the censors, it gets played on the BetaHD decks. The H.264 encoding is done online aka LIVE. The reason for live encoding is simple: the broadcaster is the one that sets the bitrate per channel. If it's pre-encoded, it may be encoded to too high a bitrate.

I don't like censorship but we have to live with it until the majority of Malaysians understand why censorship is not needed.

both HBO and HBO HD are delayed an hour for censorship, has nothing to do with encoding times. They are 2 separate channels with separate schedules, sometimes their programming is synced and sometimes they aren't.

talking bout the ESPN HD, there was a PANASONIC mobile road show in citymall, kk, sabah. They were showing off their 103" LCD TV, (YES, 103" i'm not talking bullsh*t) with HD recorded football match, watching distance is no more than 10 feet together with 5.1 surround sound, it's really like you are on the field, and it makes me stands up and imagine you are one of the player!!!!
So, i'm now saving up, i can't afford the 103" lcd tv which cost RM299,999.00!!!! But i might be able to save up for a true HD 24P projector which only cost around RM15k. Guys, once you have a chance to look on it, i'm sure u'll be poison like me. DANG
