My Astro Byond installed 2 nights ago. The installer told me that ODU 65 was running out of stock currently, thus he brought the old type ODU 60 for my installation. I called the CS and they confirmed that ODU 65 is out of stock.
I complained that in the T&C, it was mention I will be given ODU 65 and she mentioned it was the same and ODU 60 can be use also bla bla bla.. in the end, when I insisted I should get an ODU 65, she say it's either I proceed with the installation with ODU 60 or my installation will be put KIV till new stock for ODU 65 arrived. The CS say if I proceed with the installation with ODU 60, I can always check back if ODU 65 stock available and can request for a replacement FOC.
In the end, I agreed with the installer to proceed. I didn't even change the ODU and the installer says just wait for the ODU 65 to arrive and he will replace it for me. I didn't replace RG 6 cable also as it was concealed during house construction. Signal was only 185 using entry point # 1 but now I can get ~ 220 after I changed it to point # 18.
So far so good. Not much to complain except the remote/decoder respond too sensitive. My mum was unable to get the channel she wanted as she's a bit slow with the remote.

I also didn't get the free 'preview' of HBO HD till April this year. Anyway, that's expected as I only have the learning and sports package.. Added on January 9, 2010, 12:56 pmQUOTE(bryanyeo @ Jan 9 2010, 01:53 PM) I heard some ppl say sometimes astro no more new dish, they will give old dish which 'ngam ngam' support hd, just wanna know is it true? My place here in Sarawak now mostly installation with ODU 60 (old type) as ODU 65 running out of stock. As per CS, can always request to change later when ODU 65 got stock. QUOTE(pirateguy @ Jan 9 2010, 02:01 PM) From Sarawak here, they gave me the 60cm one, then I file a complaint while showing signal strength to be below average. Few days later they change mine to 65cm. Make an effort to chase Astro CS till they give you the new dish. I called the CS and complained why I was not given the ODU 60 when the installer came. I was told by CS that ODU 65 was out of stock. Will check back next week if ODU 65 was available. If yes, then definitely will ask for a replacement at their cost as my 'new' wasn't even installed yet as the installer came around 7p.m and I don't want him to risk a fall from my house roof.

QUOTE(sciguy @ Jan 10 2010, 12:55 AM) talking bout the ESPN HD, there was a PANASONIC mobile road show in citymall, kk, sabah. They were showing off their 103" LCD TV, (YES, 103" i'm not talking bullsh*t) with HD recorded football match, watching distance is no more than 10 feet together with 5.1 surround sound, it's really like you are on the field, and it makes me stands up and imagine you are one of the player!!!! So, i'm now saving up, i can't afford the 103" lcd tv which cost RM299,999.00!!!! But i might be able to save up for a true HD 24P projector which only cost around RM15k. Guys, once you have a chance to look on it, i'm sure u'll be poison like me. DANG It's actually their 103" Plasma TV. Just read in the newspaper few days back that Panasonic is coming out with 150" 3D Plasma TV.

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Jan 10 2010, 06:20 PM) Added on January 10, 2010, 5:27 pmAnd other questions, for the coaxial digital cable, it's that I still can use my older white-red RCA stereo audio cable... it is because i see that the socket are same with digital coaxial... or maybe need special cable for it... I planned to get the home theatre... but just a basic one lah... Philips.. price about RM1300 something... it has 2 digital input... Optical and coaxial... You can use the RCA cable as the coaxial cable. I'm doing so with my DVD player to my old AVR... Added on January 10, 2010, 6:10 pmQUOTE(qqmeng @ Jan 10 2010, 06:54 PM) yay! just got my B'yond installed yesterday. superb!! RM20/mth is def worth the money. but i hv one Question... why the remote (astro) cant control the volume no more? It was mentioned many times before in previous post that the volume control only for the analogue, e.g the white and red connector cable. If you connect using HDMI or coaxial digital out(to AVR), then no control unless you set the remote to control your TV volume if your TV connected via HDMI. Refer Byond manual. QUOTE(spikey2506 @ Jan 11 2010, 08:56 PM) Bro, when did u get yours installed? Everything changed? I'm at Kidurong area. Still waiting for installer to contact. I got mine installed on 6 Jan wherby my colleague got his installed on 31 Dec 2009. My Byond decoder came with ODU 60 (old type dish). So, I requested the installer not to install it and I use back my old dish. Called the installer this afternoon and according to him, there's new set arrived today with ODU 65 but it's allocated to some others subscriber. QUOTE(spikey2506 @ Jan 12 2010, 10:49 AM) This morning, I just noticed the DMT collection form under my door. Apparently the installer came yesterday when I was at work, and left the form there with his phone number. I just noticed the form today, and called him immediately. He's coming in half an hour. The installer is Mr Hii. Written on the form are both my old and new DMT and smartcard serial number. Good that you get yours as well. Bintulu as far as I know have 4 Astro installer and 2 of them with the surname Hii. So, not sure your installer is the one driving Hilux or the one driving old van. Have you check if your outdoor unit was a darker colour than previous or it's the same old type?

QUOTE(spikey2506 @ Jan 12 2010, 05:37 PM) I did not notice his vehicle, but he came alone. No assistant. Astro gave wrong number to him, that's why he did not contact me yesterday. It was a correct dish, the darker ODU 65. He was a nice chap. Activated my account over speakerphone, so that I can listen to the IVR. About three minutes after the call ended, I can start viewing already. The should be Mr. Hii that's driving the van. If you do notice he do the installation, then he should be using a satelite finder for his adjustment right? Mr. Hii that install Byond for me use the oldest Astro decoder to check the satelite signal. Good that you get the correct ODU 65 for your installation. by the way, do PM me the contact number of your installer if it's ok for you. Thanks!

QUOTE(low98944 @ Jan 12 2010, 09:32 PM) Last time I asked Astro CS their said got 65cm with old grey colour? The signal also 225 at #1 and 255 at #18... My installer already inform me in advance that mine was ODU 60 as ODU 65 out of stock when he came on 6 Jan. CS confirmed that it's out of stock but to my surprise, members here still got ODU 65 for the past few days. So, I called to request for a replacement yesterday. Now waiting for them to arrange the installer.

QUOTE(yonggoh @ Jan 13 2010, 09:15 AM) Added on January 13, 2010, 8:48 amOK so a friend is awaiting b.yond installation at his residence... His current setup is such that the old astro cable is built in-wall and installation of a new wire would require hacking... Am just wondering of the possibilities of using the old cable with the new box and new dish? anyone has experience on this? Mine currently installed using cable with old cable which was 8 years old and still using ODU 60. Signal at point #1 was 185 ans point # 18 was 218. Get the installer to check the signal quality before decide to change the cable or mot. Added on January 13, 2010, 10:00 amQUOTE(eezone @ Jan 13 2010, 10:35 AM) got mine yesterday but seems cannot control the astro volume..control from tv only..why ar? It was mention many many time in this thread that the volume control button only for the analogue audio out, e.g the red and white cable. If coaxial out, then you can't control. If you connect to TV via HDMI, then refer to Byond manual to pair your TV so that you can use your Byond remote to control TV volume. This post has been edited by willkso: Jan 13 2010, 10:00 AM

boleh ke bro guna kable komposit je dan bukan component kabel..im nOOb Boleh tu... Just to ensure the connection is correct, e.g red connect to red, blue to blue. The separate cable for component is to transfer the RGB signal idividually to the TV. Of course a better quality component will ensure no signal lost during the analogue signal transfer.

QUOTE(HM_Apfelbomb @ Jan 13 2010, 01:24 PM) wrong..i'm using HDMI and have not issue controlling TV voume using Astro remote control...u need to teach it,,,it is mentioned in the guide.. bacalah sikit manual tu,,, If you cannot understand my sentence, then you're forgiven!! Check back what's my original reply to the original question from eezone here. eezone mention Astro volume and not TV volume. Did I mislead that he/she cannot use his Astro Byond remote to control his TV volume? I did ask to refer to Byond manual to pair the Byond remote with TV right? I do mention he/she cannot control the volume if it's connected via coaxial as there's no way you can control volume via a digital signal out from Byond decoder. Be an expert only if you're a really one. Thanks!!

Check your sound setting in the Byond decoder. It should be stereo out and not surround. Surround only if your TV able to decode DD.

QUOTE(mitodna @ Jan 14 2010, 12:55 AM) Hi, just wondering how you guys confirm to #18? I got locked signal, but no button to confirm. Firmware Dec 2009, is it firmware related? Or ODU related. Thanks. If you have a check sign on your entry point # 18, that mean entry point 18 was selected. If you want to change to point # 1, then highlight it and press 'OK' followed by 'YES' to confirm.
