Not very sure, the DMB-T receiver not helpful. Only show a progress bar and how many channels it finds. Plus, you must be in Kota Damansara area to receive (actually, I'm not very sure of exact coverage, last I checked Giant Kota Kemuning can receive, and KLCC in the convention center can receive). I'm currently in Kota Kemuning and can only find RTM1 and 2.

Idk leh, my mom brought this back from China. Maybe can look in eBay?

Methinks Malaysia will end up like Korea. Korea currently using both ATSC and DMB. Although according to what I read, gomen is thinking of using DMB-T for radio. The fact that DMB-T can use for TV as well is an added bonus to them.

Agreed. Plus, wikipedia sat they test for two years first. No guarantee that they're going to continue beyond 2012.

Btw, I made mistake earlier. I said Giant Kota Kemuning. I meant Giant Kota Damansara. Kota Kemuning no Giant tongue.gif

RM20, not RM30. for people with HDTV and Learning, Sports or Movie package, it's worth it. But for people without any of the mentioned packages... better wait for more channels to show up first lah. shakehead.gif

OTOH, some people, myself included, can get all 5 HD channels for free until they start charging for HD in April. And hopefully by April they will have at least one HD channel in their roster that's in the compulsory family package.

Kota Kemuning can get RTM1 and 2 and RTM radio stations only. Nothing else. So yeah. Kota Kemuning can get. But not TV3.

Hi TVSPY & Spike2596,

So what's your advise? HD is in 16:9, SD is in 4:3 , are you suggesting to set two different setup/cables on my TV, i.e HD - via HDMI (16:9); SD - via component (4:3)?

Or should i just leave with the black vertical bars?

1080i

if you set 720p or lower, you can easily spot resizing artifacts on the fonts... it will have slightly jagged edges and with the previous picture post and info from a forumer here, it has been confirmed all hd channels broadcasted are in 1080i, so yeah stick to the native resolution to get the sharpest picture =)

My Astro Byond installed 2 nights ago. The installer told me that ODU 65 was running out of stock currently, thus he brought the old type ODU 60 for my installation. I called the CS and they confirmed that ODU 65 is out of stock.

I complained that in the T&C, it was mention I will be given ODU 65 and she mentioned it was the same and ODU 60 can be use also bla bla bla.. in the end, when I insisted I should get an ODU 65, she say it's either I proceed with the installation with ODU 60 or my installation will be put KIV till new stock for ODU 65 arrived. The CS say if I proceed with the installation with ODU 60, I can always check back if ODU 65 stock available and can request for a replacement FOC.

In the end, I agreed with the installer to proceed. I didn't even change the ODU and the installer says just wait for the ODU 65 to arrive and he will replace it for me. I didn't replace RG 6 cable also as it was concealed during house construction. Signal was only 185 using entry point # 1 but now I can get ~ 220 after I changed it to point # 18.

So far so good. Not much to complain except the remote/decoder respond too sensitive. My mum was unable to get the channel she wanted as she's a bit slow with the remote.

well mine is the other way round...cable used for 7-8 years already, but the installer said still ok to use and he said if theres prob i can call him to change cable foc....and yeah hes coming tmr... but because my cable is concealed...now im wondering where he should poke the hole in... =__=

extra:
the minimum signal level is 170 to get good pic quality... i've notice it when it was raining, the moment it touch 169...pic quality goes 20% (pixellated, breaking picture etc)

and when i told the installer, he was told it was 150...then he reconfirmed with me its 170...so those who get 185....the moment u get light rain, can be easily distorted....just like my case

so can i conclude that Byond decoders are more sensitive (requires higher signal strength to operate) than the previous one?
