I'm Not Using Monster HD Cable but when i use my 24k gold plated hdmi cable.....the sd channels become much more clearer......and the hd channels have also some slight improvement..........Dark Knight on HBO HD really got diff......Can see the jokers paint very detail.... biggrin.gif .....also if i use the astro hdmi cable....the picture will be slightly blurred when there are too much action....but with my other cable...picture is more smoother... biggrin.gif

Gold plated HDMI vs Astro HDMI cable will have no difference considering the signal of both source are digital.

If you notice any difference, its probably the placebo effect.

No it will not make any difference. I challenge you to find an article that supports gold plated HDMI improves picture quality.

add me in pls. in kuching, sarawak. got byond install this morning. need to upgrade my LCD coz no HDMI. currently using component cables. tv shows 576i. however no happy coz they use and install dish same as old model. installer said new dish out of stock but can use old dish. is this correct?
*
I'm in the same boat as you do. Using old dish instead of new ones. Maybe I'll be more demanding once signal starts to degrade. For now I can still watch HD.

hi, I am curious, did they change the LNB on your old dish? thanks
*
Yes, I should mention I am using the new dish, but its basically the same dish as the old Astro decoder (60cm instead of 65cm).

No. Monster brand won't make any difference from any other HDMI cable with Astro Byond.

Previously my Byond was installed with the old type Astro dish and I got a signal of 195.

After making complaints via Astro website, the installer came to my house and replace it with the correct dish.

Now I really feel satisfied.

My astro signal only 190-193. Should I complaint? Or probably location can cause the low signal.

Because previously, with my old dish, I only get 60-70 signal only. Any one from kuantan here? What you signal?
*
Location? I'm from Sarawak but now can get signal that is just as good as the people in KL.

But you might want to check your dish. I get 193-195 when I was using the old dish (left). Changed it today with the new dish (right) and my signal goes up to 222 !

I doubt the satellite signal strength will affect the PQ, as long as the signal strength achieve the minimum, you can enjoy the same PQ say 195 vs 225 or 255. The only advantage of signal strength is to deal with bad weather, heavy downpour on the satellite reception, correct me if i am wrong.
*
Of course weather is what people most concern about when talking about signal strength. 220+ signal strength will ensure we get less interruption from bad weather.

Applied online 19-12
Called them 23-12
T&C 24-12
Installer called 4-1, 6-1 installed (Bukit Jalil)

Signal strength quite bad at 155. Anybody have lower then this?
He also checked signal strength before installation of new dish with the old dish and it was also around 150.
Installer says the concealed wiring is too long (3 storey house) and signal can only be improved by moving dish down.

But still looks great on TV and I love the 5.1  rclxms.gif

Will wait to see premier league before making decision. smile.gif
*
Wah...if 155 can still get, those of us with 220+ is sure to be weather proof. sweat.gif

thanks .......
none of those channel  in parent subscribed package .... so they just get con and pay extra 20 for nothing ....
*
They didn't get con, they just didn't know any better.

It has already been said that right now only 5 channels are available in HD (HBO HD, Natgeo HD, History HD, Supersport HD, and coming soon ESPN HD), and that is if you have movie/documentary/sports package.

People need to learn to read the FAQ before getting Byond. doh.gif

I think 720p can produce better framerates so maybe that is why it feels less jumpy?

From Sarawak here, they gave me the 60cm one, then I file a complaint while showing signal strength to be below average. Few days later they change mine to 65cm.

Make an effort to chase Astro CS till they give you the new dish.

everything is fine, and the ASSPHD, HHD, NGHD is awsome.... but the HBOHD is not as expected.
*
Actually, it depends. Some really old movies are even converted to a proper HDTV format (but Indiana Jones was great).

You see The Naked Gun / Footloose and compare it with some of the more modern movies and the difference is obvious.

I believe the non-HD movies are really SD at 4:3.
