about the free installation -> does it include pulling the cables from ceiling to the living room?
*
If it is too long, installer may charge u.

QUOTE(Ares187 @ Dec 15 2009, 07:57 PM)
hehehehe , maybe . We got to wait till they introduce more channel and see if they plan to charge us more
*
Ur current HD cost is in the package oredi. The rm20 is for the box.

QUOTE(skorpius @ Dec 15 2009, 10:33 PM)
what's the use of getting HD channels, if when it rains we can only see black screen?
*
IPTV next. No more rain fade

QUOTE(skorpius @ Dec 15 2009, 10:57 PM)
If they can spend so much in upgrading the infrastructure etc to offer the HD channels, why can't they spend to improve on this BIG problem that all of us Malaysians have been facing for years?

They better do something. We consumers are not that dumb to pay extra just to watch HD but don't see their service gets improved.
*
To improve they will have to broadcast in C-Band. And you will have to install 2m+ dish. Imagine that. Ku-band sit on high frequency that y easier to be absorbed. It is like AM and FM. AM signal is stronger because it has long wavelength.

QUOTE(peter32 @ Dec 16 2009, 09:22 AM)
read about the rain effect on the Astro channel.

I read somewhere, some bright sparks found that wrapping the Satellite Dish Centre Stalk (the thing that stick out in the centre of the dish) with plastic bag, can improve reception during rain.

Perhaps some of you can try that.
*
Nah, Myth. Can't see what it will improve. Do otherwise as the plastic reflect it aside.

I really doubted that the installation will be done within 10 working days since the order for this byond was so many to process.... rclxub.gif But hope it will be true and will get byond before new year

I just called astro. Seems that they won't charge the rm80 if we let them take back the old dish and decoder, and that the rm20/month only starts in april.

They called me 3rd time!

Now tell me I don't need to tell them my smart card ID to process my information. Such thing only applies to those having more than 1 smart card.

I think the operators must be newly hired staff to get ready for the Astro Byond requests.

I just read FAQ

"At an additional service fee of RM20 and a commitment of 12 months, customers can sign up for this new set-up and access to the HD service. New set-up installation fee will be waived in exchange for the existing box.
The high definition channels you receive through Astro B.yond are based on your current Astro (standard definition) packages.
For example
If you have the Sports Pack as part of your package, you will be able to watch Astro SuperSport HD and ESPN HD.
If you have the Sports and Movies Pack as part of your package, you will be able to watch Astro SuperSport HD, ESPN HD and HBO HD.
If you have the Sports, Movies and Documentary packages, you can enjoy all the 5 High-Definition channels, namely Astro SuperSport HD, ESPN HD, HBO HD, National Geographic Channel HD and HISTORY HD."

Lot of ppl done that in my area but their are done on their illegal 1 meter dish.  whistling.gif

Instead of plastic bag, their using cut plastic coca-cola (or whatever) bottle (1 little bottle).  whistling.gif
*
that is prime focus dish as oppose to astro offset dish, they use plastic cola bottle to keep the rain water out of LNB head, nothing to do with rain-fade

Me too received their 2nd call yesterday. According to the guy over the phone, the 10 days period (reduced from 14 days previously) is for the technician to call you for appointment, so possible that the installation might be done after 10 days if they call you on the 10th day hmm.gif
