Read from yesterday's the Star In-Tech that it'll launch before end of the year
the HD content can support up to 1080i and even comes with surround sound
wonder how's the price like and the video bitrate that it delivers hmm.gif

I still have no idea about 720p vs 1080i.Yes, P stands for progressive while I is interlaced but what are they really? If not mistaken, progressive is always better than interlaced. So now should we get a 1080p tv or a 720p? hmm.gif hmm.gif

A friend of mine who works in Astro will be getting her Astro HD decoder in 2 weeks time, and it's free for them. :-D

She also mentioned the actual date of Astro HD launching to the consumers is on 18th Dec.

It's very likely that we have to pay for the decoder and the satellite dish upgrade. The exceptional one could be those pioneer subscribers decade ago.

Anyway, previously I heard the Astro HD will be in 720p, but looking at this aritcle again, it is "corrected" to 1080i. :-D

Hopefully we can 'trade-in' our existing decoder and dish. If not i start dish recyling business. LOL

I think content matters followed by transmission quality. Currently i dont find any excitement at all in their program. Apologies for my bluntness..

I hope to watch Astro on Demand TVB series in HD and widescreen, just like how it was shown in HK.
