I am just asking for HDMI out for my TV and just normal connectors out support at the same time for my PC. I understand that it wouldn't work with hD channels cause my tuner does not do HD. Thats fine with me , I just want recording for SD shows only !

i have a new question from ur replied, is it we still can watch HD channel by composite or component output?

QUOTE(neb @ Dec 16 2009, 05:28 PM)
composite and component video are available, but no s-video

You can't watch HD through composite, period.

1) SSJBen already said you can't. When you connect its going to work unless ASTRO smartly downgrades it. But I doubt they do that , cause lets face it if you wanna record something - you would rather record it in SD channels !

I am still waiting for an answer here about using HDMI + Composite out together.

Only component can view HD. Composite is impossible.

Look you can revert back to RCA , that way it always works. Sure its not the best quality but if you're recording and wanna view back later its okay. Its not like you want to record every fine detail. For me , when i record drama/sit-com or some important event , i just wanna watch. I dont care much about the quality anyway

Yea.
RCA always work. If not double check to see your recorder has component or not.

Me too received their 2nd call yesterday. According to the guy over the phone, the 10 days period (reduced from 14 days previously) is for the technician to call you for appointment, so possible that the installation might be done after 10 days if they call you on the 10th day  hmm.gif
*
Hmm... based on my previous experience when i subscribing astro max, astro promised for the installer to install it within 14 working days...
one week (less i think, just 4-5 days) after i order, suddenly the installer called me ONE DAY before he came to my house and install it...
but for byond... i don't sure lah... since the order for this things was so HOT! So many orders... (yeah..maybe because it was "free" item.. not like Max that we need to pay hundreds of ringgit to get it) cry.gif

Agreed. I watched Blu ray using 3plug RCA and SQ and PQ was really good though no Hi Def.
And you can't record HD content coz of the HDCP protocol, hope you know that. Make it simple, watch in HD, record is SD.

Sound like it. I think this must have something to do with copyright issue than technology itself. Component can go up to 1080p but no movie studio would allowed that without some kind of copy protection.

I'm aware of it , my HTPC is HDCP compliant and yes I've bought few HD stuff from iTunes it has to be HDCP compliant PC. Its not an issue

For me , I am alrighty with SD recording !

The TV is full-HD.
So yea.... 720p shown on screen will still need to be upscaled anyways, thus the blurriness.

I don't think Astro will be willing to shell out for 1080p signals just yet.

But so far the response for Astro B.yond is good, I hope they add more channels quickly starting next year.

no one show 1080p before la...it's just too big
1080p is best if u watch it on BD....not satellite TV

Older HDTV has component and from what i read component is no lesser then HDMI. Your tv can recieve the analog signal thru component and it does the conversions or rather it knows what to do so lets just wait and see dont give up hope yet ! icon_rolleyes.gif

ecam , i guess you do work for ASTRO.

Nevertheless , I want to ask you. Is it a must to replace the coax cables , i mean its the same RB6 cables right ?

Secondly I want to ask you this. Can it support 2 simultaneous  output like my current Nokia Setupbox whereby I can output S-video to my TV and feed rca cables to my computer. I've my HTPC setup to automatically record certain programmes or if i am browising the net via my HTPC and If i want to tune into astro without the need of switching channels or getting the remote

Please do answer that
*
Yes the cable needs to be replaced... but Im not sure what cables, perhaps a better type..diff material to avoid interference of other signals since hd involves high data rate.

I have a feeling it will support 2 simultaneous outputs.

Har? are you sure? Why in hell would they use component output then? They might as well just use back composite lol... If they really do that, they will lose out to those customers who owns old hdtv sets without hdmi input

Im very sure component cable could only go up to 1080i not p.... my lecturer told me that... and when I went to buy the component cable, I've seen so many brands but all of them support at most 1080i....

CompoNENT cables (IE the one with 3 connectors on each end) DOES support 1080p. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Component_cable

1080p requires a huge bandwidth compared to 1080i/720p , think of an economist's point of view instead of an engineer's point of view - it would be pretty expensive to get the cables , equipment and other stuff. Its just a matter of time , in the world currently the preferred broadcast is 720p for sports and 1080i for other shows and stuff

The good news is that SPORTS channel is finally getting progressive scan. Meaning that motion should rapid and it should be pretty good ;P
