Well, guess i choose sony coz easier to find.I got two model in mind and both have the same price and also HD ready but i dunno which one to get.Can you help me with the spec, which one is better?

KV-DB29M61

or KV-DZ29M61

you're giving both link to DZ29 model. looks like DB29 is better coz it have DRC, which enhance 480i signal. but on the other hand, DZ29 looks like newer model, never notice DZ model before this.

or you want to wait for LCD tv?

Yeah, I hadn't heard of the DZ model either. The DRC does make a difference though. I suggest you compare both specs carefully.

To all sifus especially Lord_Ashe...  biggrin.gif

I'm looking for 29 inch CRT tv and since this is my first time, quite confuse which model (brand) to get. I've checked the price and seem that the price for various manufactures almost same.Around RM1.5K for HD ready tv.

My usage is for Astro,DVD and PS2.

Thanks in advance  notworthy.gif

I got my Philips 34PT8845 last Saturday. Also purchase S-Video cable to connect with Astro.

The result is great. Really value for money.

However I noticed sometimes the screen would turn blue for a moment and then revert back to normal.

The Active Control feature is really cool. And it is so easy to setup. It dynamically auto optimise the picture settings, which is really cool stuff.

The picture quality is good. I noticed that if the subject is moving rapidly I see some rough pixelisation. Is this caused by the source or by the TV?

And during dark scenes, I see my reflection on the screen. Any idea how to reduce that?

Turn blue? When does that happen? Is it when you're switching channels or switching sources (ie from Astro to DVD?).

The rough pixelisation is caused in part by the Pixel Plus. Philips improved on it in the Pixel Plus 2 sets (which I have).

As for the reflection, that may just mean that your set doesn't have an anti glare/reflection coating. Better check with the manual or documentation.

I will recommend either the Sony or Philips, if you can get it at that price. These two manufacturers have the best picture quality of the CRT bunch, IMO. Not only that, they also are generous with connections. You'll want S-video for Astro, Component for PS2 and DVD.

I would stay away from the Samsung Slimfits, are the picture quality is so-so. Hope this helps!

But slimfit the only widescreen crt cry.gif with HDMI also. I only afraid of Dnie in samsung cause heard people say will cause lag when playing games. Will sony DRC cause lag in games also ? hmm.gif

DRC only kick in when your signal is 480i. you can activate Game Mode (will turn off DRC) if you feel lag or the graphic look worse on ps2.

Did some search on the internet and found this :

1080i vs 1080p

So it's true, unless the screen size is BIG, you wont see much difference. And they have to concentrate to see the differences.

One more thing i dont understand is this : click here

Can someone explain the 2nd part ?

Yes. The link have been mentioned before, and we do get the point. Since 1080p displays are not going cheap anytime soon, i believe it's an invalid comparison from the cost point of view.

Hey guys, it's actually my first time posting here, but I've been lurking for a while, hehe.
Anyway, I'm getting a LCD tv soon, so I've been checking around and have narrowed down my choices to 3 brands/models.

1) Samsung
LA40N71B

2) Sony - Bravia
KLV40V200A

3) Sharp - Aquos
LC37BX5M

My questions:

1) Which one of these models do you recommend? To me, Samsung has the best looks but from what I read from this thread, it seems that the Aquos it the better choice. Keep in mind that for now I would be mainly using the tv to watch Astro and play my Ps2. No Ps3 yet, but I should be getting it sometime next year.

2) Does the Sharp support 720p and 1080i? I'm pretty sure that both the Samsung and Sony does, but I can't find any info on the Sharp(I even have the brochure with me but it doesn't say anything about it, just the resolution - 1,366 x 769 x 3 dots(?)

3) How bad does Astro perform with these tv's? I really don't want to resort to watching football at the mamaks if the quality is too bad...

Thanks in advance happy.gif

Oi go to sleep whistling.gif

JK.

First of all, Hope you have a pleasant stay here in Lowyat and please make sure to stay out of trouble.

1. The Samsung N-Series is part of the mosel series. They are the flagship of Samsung's LCD TVs and offer a better picture then their R and S-Series. It offers 2 HDMI inputs like the Sharp. It has multiple card slots to view all your pictures and vids. Printer input and USB inputs are a nice touch. Picture quality is comparable to the other two. But it's features make it a better buy. It also has looks to match. Samsung's LCD TVs look great anywhere in your home.

2. Yes. It does.

3. They all look more or less the same. The quality is watchable, it doesn't go to the extend where you want to kill yourself, no. It's pretty decent actually.

All in all i think you should go to a shop to compare these three.

I'd take the samsung since it's fine with gaming, the price is right, and there are many features. This TV is for the casual gamer who sits back, relax, and appreciates what he sees in the telly. Go for it.

It's a very good TV both for gaming and astro purposes. Many people in the world aren't complaining bout this HDTV. Arj is using this one. I have a slightly older model, but still my games on ps2 and 360 look marvellous. DNIe doesn't kacau as much as older model so yopu shouldn't worry.
