QUOTE(Matrix @ Jan 18 2006, 12:27 PM) And here's a funny product... http://www.benq.us/Products/LCDTV/index.cf...=specificationsTake note: 1920 x 1080 NATIVE RESOLUTION. yet, only support up to 1080i. It seems like another one of those "1080p panels that don't accept 1080p signals"!!! yeah... even Haier's 37" LCD had the same spec, 1920x1080 panel but cant accept 1080p (max. 1366x768).

Any real progressive CRT beyond 21" would be too costly. That's why u could hardly find any.

Actually most PC games do support widescreen format, in fact i've played Neverwinter Nights on a resolution of 2048x768 before, and that was years back. You could check what tweaks needed to support widescreen gamine format from the Widescreen Gaming Forums. Also there's several Geforce cards bundled with HDTV component video output as well, but most of 'em are the high end series.

QUOTE(Lord_Ashe @ Feb 21 2006, 08:20 PM) Actually the short answer is NO. DVD media does not output HD images, so even if you have the V-series, unless you have a special BluRay or HDDVD player you'll get images at 480p, which is EDTV, but not HDTV. So assuming you buy a HDDVD/bluray player, YES you'll be able to view gorgeous HDTV images, but not thru component cables, rather DVI or HDMI. err.... u can still get HDTV images using component cables but limited to 720p and 1080i. For 1080p then only u'd need DVI or HDMI.

QUOTE(Lord_Ashe @ May 26 2006, 02:27 PM) I'm witchu. Screw DRM! Screw Broadcast Flag! Screw HDCP! the good news is HDCP implementation in HD-DVD/Blu-Ray movies is delayed until 2012.

QUOTE(xxboxx @ Jun 8 2006, 06:50 PM) does this 2 model support 60Hz? or only 50Hz? if you live in Australia or Europe with PAL console that would be fine. but if in malaysia, most of the thing is NTSC, which need tv capable of 60Hz. i've read thru the tech spec listed in the manual book for the SlimFit TV and it listed 1080i support only for 50Hz. For 60Hz, it's only 480p. Weird huh? Such a waste...

QUOTE(psp _BOY @ Jul 30 2006, 10:47 AM) is it me or are we just far behind?? I mean, americans and Britons as well as some other parts of the world are getting CRT TV's from Toshiba and Samsung with HDMI! As well as native 1080i Resolution. Samsung SlimfitToshiba CRT Cinema??This would be nice if it was sold in malaysia. Erm, not really. If u checkout our local shops, there's a new Samsung Slimfit widescreen crt model which is the, WS-32Z40HN. Comes with HDMI, usb port and finally support for 720p/1080i in NTSC, priced at RM2988. QUOTE(mzaidi @ Jul 30 2006, 02:47 PM) Samsung, IINM causes lag in games because of it's DNIe Technology. Refer to post #566 for more info. Unless you're sure you can turn off the DNIe (old model can't turn off, not sure about new model) then better avoid Samsung. Yes i know that, so do take note on this quote. QUOTE As we mentioned earlier, some HDTVs are better at scaling and generating lag-free videogaming than others. While there can't be any hard and fast rules, HD-CRTs are generally credited with producing the least amount of lag, while DLP-based HDTVs (Samsungs in particular thanks to DNIe image enhancement) are often considered the worst. Of course, we've read a number of reports of laggy LCDs and plasma displays as well, which means that no HDTV technology is truly safe. Safest bet to avoid the lag if the image enhancement can't be turned off is to just use the display's native resolution, in this case, for CRTs, use 1080i.

QUOTE(uturn @ Sep 6 2006, 10:21 AM) 3. Samsung CS29Z30MQ - it's PQ is quite impressive but found out in this forum that ssung might hv problems. I think this is the latest model so i still can't find the specs. Currently priced @ RM1,730.
The latest model for Samsung Slimfit is the Z40 series where they now supports 720p/1080i in NTSC, and includes HDMI port for the widescreen model. Previously they only support hdtv res in PAL format.

QUOTE(xxboxx @ Oct 9 2006, 11:15 PM) half the speed, but at same screen size. try to compare video of 540p and 1080i at tv 40" or bigger, which one would look nicer? if count bit by bit sure it's bigger, but by just looking at it, it look 50% bigger only. how do you measure 50% by just looking at it? I take it u meant the width and length instead of square area? Also we can't exactly call 1080i as 540p since the resulting image is not 1920x540, but should still be 1920x1080 (broadcast 1080i is usually 1440x1080i instead), only the rendering method is different. 1080p renders full frames while 1080i in alternating lines. Do take note that for games, a progressive scan is always recommended. This post has been edited by redbull_y2k: Oct 9 2006, 11:45 PM

QUOTE(iv'N @ Dec 29 2006, 06:07 PM) noob questions. Dell 2407WFP can display 1080p on xbox360 via VGA input only right? How come we're not able to get 1080p through composite? I dont understand. How bout for PS3? Coz the built-in scaler for component input on Dell 2407WFP doesn't support 1080p input, that's all. For PS3, u'd need a HDMI-DVI adapter cable then hook it up to the DVI port to enjoy 1080p. Otherwise u'd still stuck with 1080i/720p over component input.
