If you're referring to LA26R71B, i can roughly estimate its around 3.4-3.6k
*

the other option is LA27S71B from Samsung, at a lil over RM3K

The HDMI cable is rather over priced. Fret not, if you are buying upscaling capable DVD palyer, it does normally come with a 1m HDMI cable in it.

QUOTE(Hiiryu @ Dec 21 2006, 03:45 AM)
Hey guys, it's actually my first time posting here, but I've been lurking for a while, hehe.
Anyway, I'm getting a LCD tv soon, so I've been checking around and have narrowed down my choices to 3 brands/models.

1) Samsung
LA40N71B

2) Sony - Bravia
KLV40V200A

3) Sharp - Aquos
LC37BX5M

My questions:

1) Which one of these models do you recommend? To me, Samsung has the best looks but from what I read from this thread, it seems that the Aquos it the better choice. Keep in mind that for now I would be mainly using the tv to watch Astro and play my Ps2. No Ps3 yet, but I should be getting it sometime next year.

2) Does the Sharp support 720p and 1080i? I'm pretty sure that both the Samsung and Sony does, but I can't find any info on the Sharp(I even have the brochure with me but it doesn't say anything about it, just the resolution - 1,366 x 769 x 3 dots(?)

3) How bad does Astro perform with these tv's? I really don't want to resort to watching football at the mamaks if the quality is too bad...

Thanks in advance happy.gif

The Samsung is brand new model. So, it's rather difficult to comment abt it.

The problem does not lies in LCD TV. Astro is the main culprit for its poor PQ.

All LCD TV supports the min 720p or 1080i unless u r talking abt unknown brands.

Initially, SED TV was set to be launched in early 2007. However, due to some issue, it was delayed. Expect premium price for it

it's difficult to say at the moment. Even we are lacking 720p sources esp HDTV, we have abundant of LCD TVs and plasma TVs to choose from. And I can safely say that most of it are not being used to watch HD materials. In this case, I can guess it is for Astro.

I think other competitors will not sit and wait since Sony has already launched 1080p LCD TVs. It would only just a matter of time. I think we might be seeing more of it to hit our shore in this year itself. But, at premium price tag again. *sigh*

Now, I am waiting for the full details of it before doing a bulk. Should be by this weekend. Then again, the price will be lower as quoted. smile.gif
