It's a very good TV both for gaming and astro purposes. Many people in the world aren't complaining bout this HDTV. Arj is using this one. I have a slightly older model, but still my games on ps2 and 360 look marvellous. DNIe doesn't kacau as much as older model so yopu shouldn't worry.

Turn blue? When does that happen? Is it when you're switching channels or switching sources (ie from Astro to DVD?).

The rough pixelisation is caused in part by the Pixel Plus. Philips improved on it in the Pixel Plus 2 sets (which I have).

As for the reflection, that may just mean that your set doesn't have an anti glare/reflection coating. Better check with the manual or documentation.

It turned blue for 2 seconds during all astro programs. It happens randomly. Switching channels is ok, even switching sources is ok too.

Is there a spray that i can use to reduce glare?

I never come across a TV model that supports PP2. Only those LCD & Plasma would have PP2 and above.

I know. My model was an earlier one from the Matchline III series. PP2 built in. I think I got the last set in 2005 blink.gif

As for glare, most glare protectors are made for LCD monitors up to 21". It's going to be tough to look for one 29" size.

I'm a bit puzzled about the blue screen issue. Maybe you should give Philips a call?

Hey guys, it's actually my first time posting here, but I've been lurking for a while, hehe.
Anyway, I'm getting a LCD tv soon, so I've been checking around and have narrowed down my choices to 3 brands/models.

1) Samsung
LA40N71B

2) Sony - Bravia
KLV40V200A

3) Sharp - Aquos
LC37BX5M

My questions:

1) Which one of these models do you recommend? To me, Samsung has the best looks but from what I read from this thread, it seems that the Aquos it the better choice. Keep in mind that for now I would be mainly using the tv to watch Astro and play my Ps2. No Ps3 yet, but I should be getting it sometime next year.

Thanks in advance happy.gif

If just watching Astro and playing PS2, I would recommend using CRT TV. I am not sure if it just me. The moment I replace 21" CRT with 32" LCD and played PS2. I don't like it. Perphas I am not get use to sharpness, coloring, and contract of LCD yet.
But PS2 only outputs 480i/p you would get better graphics with CRT TV.

For me I will just stick my old 21" CRT for PS2. And LCD for xbox360 and DVD at the moment.

Harvey Norman is in the Ikano Power Centre, Mutiara Damansara. It is located next to the Curve. The brand in question is LG smile.gif

2) Does the Sharp support 720p and 1080i? I'm pretty sure that both the Samsung and Sony does, but I can't find any info on the Sharp(I even have the brochure with me but it doesn't say anything about it, just the resolution - 1,366 x 769 x 3 dots(?)

3) How bad does Astro perform with these tv's? I really don't want to resort to watching football at the mamaks if the quality is too bad...

Thanks in advance happy.gif

The Samsung is brand new model. So, it's rather difficult to comment abt it.

The problem does not lies in LCD TV. Astro is the main culprit for its poor PQ.

All LCD TV supports the min 720p or 1080i unless u r talking abt unknown brands.

Astro is still using analog signal. Once they start to use digital, we can expect better PQ

Astro may be can impliment that in the near future like in 5 years time. But RTM may take 10 or even longer. I still remember 12 years ago when every other tv stations in Malaysia are using Digital Beta and RTM are still using the ancient 1 inch tape.

noob questions.

Dell 2407WFP can display 1080p on xbox360 via VGA input only right? How come we're not able to get 1080p through component? I dont understand. Unless the monitor is a A03 revision?

How bout for PS3?

Coz the built-in scaler for component input on Dell 2407WFP doesn't support 1080p input, that's all. For PS3, u'd need a HDMI-DVI adapter cable then hook it up to the DVI port to enjoy 1080p. Otherwise u'd still stuck with 1080i/720p over component input. sweat.gif

If I'm gonna order the 24" Dell today, it would definately be the A03 revision?
