Are you using M2U direct debit service or their debit card ? These two things are different.

Not quite so. Yes. Both deduct from your savings account but if you charge directly to your debit card, you'll be awarded 1 Treatpoint for every RM3 charged and GSC will have to pay x% merchant fee to the card issuer's bank. For direct debit such as standing instruction or payment channeled through www.maybank2u.com.my, you do not get Treatpoint and GSC doesn't have to pay anyone merchant fee. So it is actually different. This is the reason why KHOdin said debit card can't be used for GSC online e-payment.

I've done this before in 2008. Just go to any Public Bank branch and tell them you'd like to cancel your VISA Electron. They will give you a form to fill. That's it. You may or may not surrender the card to the officer in charge. I did not return mine. I told them i lost the card  laugh.gif  If you have internet banking access to this account, you can see if the card is still active. When the card has been canceled, you should get your RM25 deposit back too. You might need to wait for days or weeks though. Mine was only canceled in about two weeks. Just like credit card, the cancellation will be done by their credit card HQ in Menara Public Bank in KL.

think my visa electron is up for annual renewal on Oct 8.
So even if I go tomorrow to the bank, they may not be able to cancel in time to avoid the RM24 annual fee. doh.gif
and these last few days i am quite busy with other stuff cool.gif

Why need to cancel?
PBe Visa Electron is one of the best Debit Card I've.
Actually the more you spent with the card, the lest you pay the annual fees.

Actually, if you swipe it once a month within 1 year its free

But you could always call up and request a waiver.

=)

case to case basis though

What about those online stores that state Visa/Mastercard credit card(paybox) without mentioning debit? Will debit card usually be accepted?

Also, why do they usually ask 'Expiry date' after Credit Card number?

What's paybox anyway?

Added on July 8, 2010, 11:47 pmoh one more ques, maybank visa debit card is most widely accepted for foreign transactions on purchase that ship to malaysia right? Some websites don't accept Paypal.

may i ask where is the money now? since maybank already charge me RMXXX,means they take that amount of money out of my account already. However the seller/merchant bank wouldn't request for the money from my debit card. the money should be in some place right?. sad.gif sad.gif or the money just become frozen in my account for 1 month before maybank assure no1 wil claim it?

p/s:1st time use debit card. icon_question.gif
