I've successfully swiped my Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card a few times at Jaya Jusco supermarket in Mid-Valley Megamall.

Can't be. I last time swiped only RM18+ (just about 2-3 weeks ago) at Jusco Supermarket Mid-Valley and the transaction went through. The credit card processing terminal belongs to Maybank and the cashier will have to select either "debit" or "credit" before the transaction can go through.

By the way, always make sure they select "credit". If you choose "debit", you will have to enter your ATM PIN number and you get no cash back for your purchase.

There are some ignorant merchants think debit visa / mastercard is only a bank card used for ATM. I encounter a Malaysian online shop that offer multiple payment methods, I asked on their facebook whether they accept debit visa / mastercard or not, they replied and tell me I can use my debit visa / mastercard by choosing the direct debit (means MEPS on their site) as payment option. Really....

You are wrong. byronong is right. He should know what he talks about as he works for Public Bank and is involved in the development of Public Bank debit cards.

Anyway, i used to have their Basic Savings Account and this account can only be issued with the regular blue ATM card. The free conversion is applicable only to eligible accounts and Basic Savings & Basic Current account are not eligible.

Huh ? Public Bank's minimum age requirement for debit card has always been set at 12.
