@jind86,
Act I think it's possible. There is a setting somewhere that you can configure whereby when U press the red [x] it will not minimise the app but to close it [except right now i'm in a meeting so i can't go through all the settings]

Alternatively, Y don't u just use Command-Q

OS X is document based, not application based. You can close the last open document and still have the app open, which for things like Photoshop, Word, Excel, etc. is a good thing.

applications that only have one window e.g. iPhoto, System Preferences Toast, most of the Utilities will quit when the close window button is pressed.

closing a window will lose all the info or data without saving it but minimize will only hide the current window in ur dock, n u dont have to save it.

Its better to leave it on.
If you switch on and off, it will reduce the number of battery life cycles...

hahha yeah. 7hours can b achieved only if everything is at the lowest setting. tongue.gif should have read the small prints before being convinced that it lasts for 7hours. gave me hell the last time i decided not to bring the charger.haha.

when you close the window, you totally close the content of that window.. when you minimize, it goes down to your dock where you're able to bring it back out again.. btw for snow leopard, there's a new setting which allows the window to be minimized into the application icon on the dock (instead of the right side of the dock which is default).. goto dock settings, and tick on "minimize windows into application icon"..

yes i am currently using command-q, but im kinda used to clicking the red button and then i'll remember that it didnt close the program therefore i'd have to then click command-q after.. as i realize there are certain programs which closes right away when the red button is clicked, and there are others (most) which dont, so im wondering whether there's some sort of settings i could do as i feel it would be much convenient for me..

there is a default warranty deadline that ur macbook will start with, maybe a couple of months after it leaves the factory.

you can check your serial number online to find it out, and if u didn't register, apple will use that date or apple will update with a new date if you submit ur proof of purchase.

eg. i bought my mbp on earlier this sept, but when i check the warranty online, it stated that my macbook warranty ends at 31july 2010, which means it starts at 31 jul 2009.

after i register it, the warranty is adjusted/corrected to the day i register for the first time.
