anyone knows how to clean dirt under keyboards and trackpad. I spilled champagne on my keyboard 3 weeks ago and some keys and the trackpad became really uncomfortable to type. It feels like something is stuck under the keys. I suspect it's the crystalized sugar. Has anything like that happened to anyone? i plan to try my luck at apple and pretend i don't know anything.

i'm sure the immersion sensor is triggered too.. and apple tech will check for that first

i was reading through apple support website and various websites regarding issues with the sata150 and 1.7 efi update which causes random pauses/slowness/beachballness with the june09 macbook pro range

anybody applied the efi 1.7 update and lived to tell?

mmm surely there's a reason for them to do so? it's lk limiting the potential of their own machines. :T and it's quite a bad thing to do when win 7 is jz around the corner
*
umm.. just like limiting the hdd interface to sata 150 in the new macbook pros?

i think those are due to negligence

no.. its due to the nature of aluminum

although unibody macbooks are sturdy and strong, its also at the same time delicate

so u mean wen i bought it its ok, then i leave it alone there, wihtout touching, but due to its nature, it will jadi like the picture?
*
its more on how you hold it or carry it, as u know.. aluminum does not usually react well under pressure, it does not flex like plastic or other composites does and returns to normal.. when it bends it bends, it cannot unbend back

even a simple act like putting into sleeve and taking it out can also cause warping

well for me i didnt feel the keyboard protector was so important as the keypads itself are black in color (for the aluminim MBP), so i dont think they will be stained easily, plus i clean my MBP everyday.. the keyboard protector will make the keypads feel different when using, so i didn't really like it..
*
there is small gaps under each of the keys, i'm worried things may go under and accumulate and thus make the keyboard no syok typing

at first i was like you. wanted to buy heaps of protection. but i ended up not getting anything. well accept for a laptop sleeve and i good bag for it. and im quite happy that the macbook seems alright. the only complaint i have is the oil stains on my keyboard. cos i didnt clean it everyday after use in the beginning so now there is certain areas of the keys thats 'shiny'. think that is caused by the oil. think new users shud clean it everyday with iklear rather than buyer a keyboard protector as this well effect the heat ventilation right?
and a trackpad protector is recommended too.  blush.gif

there are keyboard protector which have micro vent holes on the top 2-3 rows of the keys

Mac os or XP mode?

I still figuring how to make my machine wake up in XP mode without Restart the XP after few hours of Idle.

I had set Hibernate. But not sure issit the right way to do it. I am guessing is the Overheat in XP make the machine auto-shut down for protection.

I want my XP to be fast awake from sleep/standby mode like in Mac OS X.

one thing have to be remembered is that macos is tailor made for mac hardwares and fully functions best together

windows are designed to run on different types of system/hardwares and it works correctly/best with properly supported devices/drivers.

to expect windows to work like macos in a mac hardware is... what should i put it as.. umm.. (put ur term here)

i believe i read somewhere.. battery life on macos is much better than in windows when running in macbook

is there a need to register our mbp in order to be covered under warranty ?
*
there is a default warranty deadline that ur macbook will start with, maybe a couple of months after it leaves the factory.

you can check your serial number online to find it out, and if u didn't register, apple will use that date or apple will update with a new date if you submit ur proof of purchase.

eg. i bought my mbp on earlier this sept, but when i check the warranty online, it stated that my macbook warranty ends at 31july 2010, which means it starts at 31 jul 2009.

after i register it, the warranty is adjusted/corrected to the day i register for the first time.

i thought if it ends on 31st july 2010, it started on 1st august 2009?
*
aiya.. u get the point lah.. its

so basically i'm short 1 month warranty..

but after i register, viola.. the warranty dateline is corrected to sept 2010

yeah i wanna ask this too, i think i asked bfore but wasn't such a convincing answer..

so if we put our notebook to sleep while battery is max and leave the adapter on, would it have any effects to the macbook or battery?

what about these reports?

sata II problems? ):

i want to get a mac but this is kinda freaking me out.
*
i think it effects certain batch/small amount of MBPs

i believe most MBP (mid09) have their HDD upgraded with 3rd party drives.. and no issue what soever so far, knock wood

hi can I ask some advice on macbook white and macbook pro? I'm planning to get my first mac next week. I was aiming for the 13' Macbook pro but the macbook white is quite tempting. What's the advantages that the macbook white has over the macbook pro? Does polycarbonate body get discolored very fast?
*
other than faster processor / aluminum unibody / backlit keyboard.. i guess that's it for abt additional RM800

but i read there will be a refresh or imac and macbook white in the coming weeks and its going to be cheaper.. y dun u wait and see first?

Yes enough. Even if you use photoshop still okay. But when you start to multitask with memory heavy programs, having more RAM makes a lot of difference.

Like I usually run a Windows XP virtual machine in Parallels, with iTunes, Adium, Safari, iCal, Excel or Aperture, things really start to crawl when I had 2GB. Upgrading to 4GB made a lot of difference for me.

i agree

another indicator you can use as guide is the swap out readings in activity monitor..

when swap out occurs, means there is not enough memory so pages had to be swap out to hdd

faster processor, longer battery life, there's another "pro" word under the screen, additional SD card reader and FW800 and the audio in out port combine into 2 in 1. kensington lock moved to sit with dvd slot.
