I did that before. Call up DA, say you want to upgrade from Gold to Plat. CS will fax you the form. Fill it up, tick both Plat (you may write on top "request upgrade from gold to plat" ), fax in IC, EA Form and/or 3 mths salary slip.

I received the cards by courier in less than 5 working days after fax in complete docs. Fastest ever to me.

Anybody heard of Hong Leong Bank Essential Card? I am wondering about the AF waiver stuffs. The bank folks told me 24 swipes are needed to get it waived or spend 8k in that year?

I tried to use SCB online banking to make payment for IWK, MBSA and MBSJ, in order to enjoy 5% rebate on Friday. However, all the transactions couldn't go through. I called SCB CS, the CS staff informed that SCB online banking only works before 8pm, Malaysian local time. So inefficient! rclxub.gif

Alliance Bank You:nique

Has anyone got any experience with this card? It attracts me because:

1. It gives rebate continuously all year around without time limit (instead of for certain promotional period only for other cards) of up to 2%
2. Free annual fee if used 12 times.
3. Same for supplementary cards and can have different preset limit for each individual supplementary cards (good to give to children or free spending spouse)
4. No overseas transaction charges.

So I applied for one and last night, when I called their center to make some inquiries, they do not take calls after 8pm except for lost card report. I thought all cards' phone service is 24/7. And no weekends and holiday. So now I am having doubt about their customer service. Anybody having any 1st hand experience with them and care to share?

Bu I just managed to get hold of the card [HLB Visa Essential] yesterday.. Would like to confirm whether the 1% cash back still applies for all transaction [except those petrol transactions and some others which I can't recall]

I am holding Younique card. Let me share my experience.

The CS only operates during office hours, Monday to Friday. This is considered a major disadvantage.

Cash rebate is based on tier system, subject to a max cash back of RM68.25 or 1.365% per month. It is not 2% as what people normally think.

On the good side, cash rebate applies to all types of purchases, including transactions at petrol stations. On top of that, you will also get 1x point on your purchases (excluding petrol). I can swipe the card anytime, anywhere, don't need to remember when, what and where to buy all days long!

So far I am happy using the card, until I obtain SCB Just1 cc recently. However, I'll change my Younique to Alliance Plat, as Alliance Plat give 2x points for overseas transactions compared to Younique x1 point. Cash rebate for its Plat is slightly higher only.

Yah, Alliance Bank's benefits are not too bad but thier claim of 24/7 CS is misleading. Once I also made a call (to so called Platinum CS number) after 8pm to make an enquiry on cash back and was told the same thing. I did mentioned this earlier in one of my post on Cons of Alliance Card is that operator knows next to nuts after 8pm. Anyway, I email them to complain that thier claim on 24/7 was misleading, next day 2 people called me up (a friendly officer attending to my query and then a supervisor to check if officer attended my complain).

Email address below:

1) info@alliancebg.com.my
2) businessinfo@alliancebg.com.my

Just to add, besides the benefit you mentioned above, Alliance card that gives up to 2% cash rebate is based on tiers up to RM5K where maximum cash back is about RM68 per statement circle. In addition to cash, back, you will also get rewards point RM1= 1 point so pretty good.

1351 - 2550 0.9%
2551 - 5000 2%

Hasn't used my card yet but so far, the only thing I don't like is this no working after 8pm and weekend/holidays.

In my limited experience, the best CS is from DA Platinum. Call were answered very fast. And you get to IMMEDIATELY talk to a REAL person instead of some answering machine with layers upon layers of menu. Press this, press that. Hold etc.

And they are available 24/7. 365 days a year.

0.5% - max RM2.50
0.7% - max 5.95
0.9% - max 10.80
2% - max 49.00

The total max cash rebate is RM68.25.
68.25/5000 = 1.365%

DA pretty good except I have to think a bit when they ask like what is your favourite (this or that) and the character of your password biggrin.gif Answered my favourite questions wrong a fine times doh.gif

HLB Plat also good, call tol free Plat number and key in card number and because they have CLIP and I use my same moblie phone, sometimes for general questions non relating to account statement they don't even ask me questions for verification.

Worse is RHB, like you mentioned, layers upon layers of menu when calling CS general line.

Mind posting up a pic of the HLB Visa Essential? Far as we know, that particular range of card offers 1% rebate across the board with no capping. Withdrawn by HLB many years back. Would be good if it makes a come back though rclxms.gif

HLB relaunched it a few months ago, with very limited numbers of cards provided. All cards were taken up within a short period due to overwhelming response. HLB may issue the cc again in the near future, who knows. smile.gif
