Guys, I would like to know something regarding to Direct Access. How's the cash back procedure works? Is it direct deduct from the amount or carry forward to deduct in next month (like Citibank Shell cc)?

Just to make sure, DA doesn't count any reward points right?

Thanks.

Regarding Telekom, does it include normal house telephone and Streamyx? If yes, does TM got any auto-debit facility charging to AMEX?

As for annual fee, it is only free for 3 yrs and then it is RM238 so that will take some wind out of this card. And I hate having to ask for exemption because it felt like begging.

AFAIK, Alliance has no expire date. But as mentioned, the rebate are tiered and only up to RM5000 (1.36% all in).

there's no AF for AMEX Gold CC, it's free for life with no conditions attached

the one with AF is AMEX Gold charge card

Yes, normal house telephone and Streamyx can be direct auto debit by using Express Pay, they will reward you 5x point for subscribing it.

For the annual fee, the Free for 3 Year is for AMEX Gold Charge Card, now the latest AMEX Gold Credit Card is free for life and the 5x reward is given by without any condition, no need to phone call them to activate the service and waive the annual fee.

Indeed there still some disadvantage on AMEX (merchant not that popular as VISA and MC) but it is a great potential card that gives you a lots of rewards.

Thanks for correcting my oversight. I was looking at the charge card instead.

I don't have any MB card because I did hear a few horror stories before, basically billing mistakes. So how are their service nowadays?

How do you work out that 2.5% calculation? Do they actually give you cash back? Or in lieu of some over-priced goods?
*
alexwsk have showed you the calculation below and the was pointing out the cash back of RM1 for every 200 MR. As for the 5X rewards daijoubu have given you the link or simply goto AMEX Home page and Click on AMEX Gold CC.

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Aug 25 2009, 09:04 AM)
based on 200 MR points = RM1 for pay with points RM40 (5x points = 200) can get RM1 back, so it's 2.5%

of course you can redeem for RM50 vouchers which require less than 10k MR points
i don't see why anyone wants to redeem RM50 vouchers which require more than 10k though sweat.gif
*
alexwsk, yah you are right, better to get cash back instead of RM50 vouchers requiring more than 10K MR.

Optiplex, there are several people having problem with auto debit with AMEX Gold CC, but I believe this will be sorted out soon.

And as aeronlim mentioned AMEX Gold CC, it is free for life smile.gif I guess it might be kind of confusing as there are too many type of AMEX cards nowadays. we are all referring to AMEX Gold Credit Card without the MBB logo. AMEX even have Tol Free CS line for Gold cards where as most other CC cards don't have and it is truly 24 hours service.

I also have Alliance and do think the card is pretty good in terms of cash back for Visa/MC in general. Also my Alliance Plat gives me reward points which is compettive with other Visa/MC for voucher redemption on top of cash back. It is the only card that does not charge Admin Fees for overseas transactions plus giving you 2X reward points rclxms.gif . But the CS sucks big time and unfortunately there aren't many discount/offers for Alliance at places I do spend my money.

QUOTE(santaclaus @ Aug 25 2009, 10:16 AM)
does citibank platinum card stil gif us 2x points when spend overseas???

i had scb justone mastercard , hsbc amanah visa platinum , citibank visa platinum .... which of these charge a lower/better currency conversion rate?
*
winner did post about 2 weeks back a comparison for Justone and another card and Justone rate was high. Go search winner post in this thread. For overseas transaction fees, read first post of this thread and if you do have overseas transactions including for online transactions, better you get Alliance card and save some money on those stupid Admin Fees.

So how do you pay AMEX (not MBB AMEX)? Sending checks through the post isn't exactly a attractive option.

As for overseas transaction. How does AMEX's exchange rate compares with MC/VISA? And how's the administration charges?

U can pay it using M2U, just like the normal MBB cc
as for the overseas charges, it's definitely higher than master and visa, 2.5% or above if not mistaken

For my DA VI, the cash back for 2% or 5% for Giant and TESCO, 0.5% for local trasactions and 1% for overseas transactions are reflected in total in my monthly statement where I just got the first one this month.

AMEX operations in Malaysia have been taken over by MBB few years back and since then I have been paying my AMEX Charged Card bills (drop into "box" only) and yesterday for first time AMEX Gold CC (use Electronic Cheque Deposit Machine where a copy of the cheque is printed out in the receipt) at MBB branches.

For overseas transactions not wise to use AMEX's AMEX as the Admin fees is high at 2.5% (not sure on MBB's and HLB's AMEX card rate). But recently I did use AMEX at Universal Studios LA as AMEX members get up to 10% discount for their photo package and USD5 off for every USD35 at their stores (which works out to be up to 14%).

I have been calling AMEX Tol Free line for AMEX Gold Card (Charged and Credit same number 24 hours) and I can't remember putting on hold for long time. And when I call the Tol Free line behind my MBB Petronas Platinum Card last Friday at about 11am to activate it, the call was picked up immediately.

Talked to the HSBC staff who handled my application for their credit card pledged by time deposit. Was told there is NO legal fee need to be paid. And i also received a call from HSBC credit card centre this morning that the card's ready and i shall get it the latest by Friday rclxms.gif

Petrol rebate is deducted on the statement date.
Hypermarket and MPH rebate after 10th of the next month.

Shell-Citibank sucks by carry forward and deduct after accumulating RM20....

Thanks for all the answer. It made me clearer. Yes, Citibank tactic is a type of $$ vampire. They left us to wait for 'every next month' deduction. smile.gif

i want to know about Extended Payment Plan like provided by hong leong cc. Is this an automatic included plan when u apply the card or else?
"payment tenure with our 0% interest installment plan for 6-month and 12-month"
does the above mean that i have interest free for 6 or 12 month for any item purchased?

I've got rebates at ISETAN, Guardian, KFC using my CIMB Mastercard. I've got bonus points too. Maybe it's different for Direct Access only ? If so better just use CIMB Mastercard.
