Wao two months, why they took so long? But at least they approve and plus additonal 2K credit limit, not bad at all.
So when they told you to collect the card?

Stupid CIMB cheque deposit machine cannot make payment for my DA VI, but had no problems for my World (I wrote 2 separate cheques). Call up DA and they confirmed they having problems with VI and asked me to make payment under my World MC account and they will transfer the funds into my VI account.

I guess the applications for the Gold AMEX CC must be good as the processing seems to be slow. When I applied during the lauch, it took less than 10 days for my application to be approved. Those who say AMEX is not accepted by most merchants are losing out by not getting the AMEX Gold CC because when one does the calculation for 5X rewards, it is equivalent to minimum 2.5% cash back.

Just made my first payment for my AMEX Gold CC at MBB cheque deposit machine.

Guys, may i ask, what is the difference between

1) American Express® Gold Credit Card
2) Maybankard American Express Classic
3) Maybankard American Express Gold

All are by Maybank =.=. Very confusing.

Correct me if im wrong, the first one is in Membership Rewards points by AMEX, while the other 2 are in Treatpoints? And, the first one cannot do EzyPayment?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

When picking up my card, I asked why my friend who applied a week before Treatsfair has not gotten his card, the guy said that applications through branches are normally slower as MBB Cardcentre applications have higher priority in the system.

For those who are convenient with any MBB Cardcentres, it doesn't hurt to drop by and resubmit. Existing MBB CC customers do not need to submit any documents, just filling up about half the form is enough.

Your understanding of the points system used is correct. Both are not interchangeable, however during Treatsfair you can use either system to redeem items. Amex has their own easy payment scheme while in theory MBB Amex does allow EzyPayment, I've not seen any merchant offer it, they only accept MBB Visa/Master for it.

Thanks for your reply smile.gif. If thats the case then the first one is better cause it has 5x points for petrol and selected retail. Altho if you ask me, the treatpoints has better vouchers for exchange (petronas and jusco).

Anyway, may i know, what is the easy payment scheme for amex like? Exactly like ezypayment?

Do you know if my current account is held in HSBC Kota Kinabalu, can i just drop off the cheque for AMEX in any one of the Maybank branch here in Kota Kinabalu without my cheque being treated as outstation cheque so i do not have to foot the extra charges ? I assume if they clear the cheque in Maybank Kota Kinabalu my HSBC Kota Kinabalu issued cheque is considered as local cheque ?

How do you work out that 2.5% calculation? Do they actually give you cash back? Or in lieu of some over-priced goods?

based on 200 MR points = RM1 for pay with points here
RM40 (5x points = 200) can get RM1 back, so it's 2.5%

of course you can redeem for RM50 vouchers which require less than 10k MR points
i don't see why anyone wants to redeem RM50 vouchers which require more than 10k though sweat.gif

I went to the website you pointed. It says:
1. Every RM1 you spend on the Card earns you TWO Membership Rewards point
2. Every 200 MR points = RM1

Assuming you spend RM5000.
1. It gives you 10,000 points.
2. 10,000 points give you RM50 or a net cash back of 1%. This is less than Alliance bank's 1.36% for same amount of money.

So where does it say RM1 = 5 points and is this for only a limited period? I am always interested in money so like to know more.

Its over here http://www.maybank2u.com.my/WebBank/5xprtnAMEXG070709.pdf and it did not mention time limited.

This means, ~2.5% rebate for all petrol, certain groceries (major ones including giant, tesco, carrefour), bookshops and telcos, while 1% is for everything else.

And this is not tiered like Alliance, meaning you still get the same amount if you spend less. And you still get the same amount if you spend over RM5k, unlike alliance which you will get no rebate at all after RM5k.

hmm according to the CS. The card is suspended due to "technical reasons" apparently the issue is that there are still some terminals that cannot read the Just1 card. Since i'm an existing Just1 holder i did ask if they were going to send new cards to replace the old ones but the CS doesn't know.
*
Do terminals overseas have this problem? I'm going travelling soon and SCB JO is one of the major cards I'll be using.

Ya, agree with you, the 5x don't have time limit, even i spend RM 10 at Carrefour, i still get 50 point. Petrol and groceries can't be avoid in our life, the AMEX Gold CC gives all the purchase at there 5x point, other bank didn't offer such good promotion. Other than that 2x point also can mean 1.0% cash rebate, Optiplex330 can u find a bank offer a normal cash rebate rate more than 1.0% (no expire time)?

Regarding Telekom, does it include normal house telephone and Streamyx? If yes, does TM got any auto-debit facility charging to AMEX?

As for annual fee, it is only free for 3 yrs and then it is RM238 so that will take some wind out of this card. And I hate having to ask for exemption because it felt like begging.

AFAIK, Alliance has no expire date. But as mentioned, the rebate are tiered and only up to RM5000 (1.36% all in).
