i posted in this thread in january, when i first got my i3gs.

I'm happy so far to say that based on constant vigilance + prudent use, I have never exceeded 200 mb per month (on a 500mb package). I use wifi at home and work. 3G coverage when I'm outside is limited to fb and twitter (and sometimes email). I find that the battery tends to die faster than I can use the data anyway. But I was strict - i told maxis from day one to set my billing period to the 28th. i did not rock out and use the iphone from day 1.

*
good to know that you've never been charge excess for overuse. i think i will be similar to your usage, as all i use will be Facebook, Twitter, emailing, chatting & web-browsing. and since i'm consciously aware of usage of 3G data services on the impact of battery life, i will not be browsing too much. i won't have too much time to browse when i'm working anyways.

hmm.... maybe than 2GB will be more than sufficient for my needs if i go for the iValue 2 plan.

thanks for your feedback smile.gif

thanks Gary for sharing a sample of ur bill. is this the same latest iValue 2 plan from Maxis with the iPhone 4?

i know both SMS, MMS & data for 3G services & internet is grouped under "Data". what i am puzzled is..... how come they don't deduct/rebate the 3G internet data from ur bill?

if i am to understand how the bill works:

Domestic Charges:
- Data : RM47.85 = RM20.00 (SMS rebate) + RM0.25 (MMS rebate) + RM27.60 (??? 3G data)

.... then, how come they don't offer u rebate of RM27.60 as well in ur bill?

Hi guys, just wanted to share my case with u all..

when i got my 3gs beginning of this year, i seldom use the data so i just turn on the normal gprs data when i use it for facebook and some net surfing. bill was ok, around rm150-including my voice n sms around rm100..so i decided to just keep it that way for few months..then i thought since i'm not using data that much i subscribe to the 100mb data plan for rm18.

for the 1st month i subscribe to the data 100mb data, i just use it like how i normally use it,then when i check my un-billed account i was quite shock that it's already rm150+ after 1 week, so i called maxis to clarify with them, the cs ppl told me 'ooh it's normal to have that amount based because it;s not the end of the month yet so at the end of the month maxis will give u the rebate so u can just use it like normal coz if now the unbilled says it's 150 it doesnt mean it will be 150,after the rebate u might even get a cheaper bill..

so i just continued my normal activities..when the bill came out end of the month, i was shocked that it was RM300+ my data was around RM1600(around 160mb+)and they charge me maximum RM250..i thought i over-used so i just paid it thinking i might use it too much..so ok

then when i went n paid my bill in maxis ttdi, i spoke to the cs officer, she advise me to change my plan to 250mb, so i changed the plan as she recommended me then i use it for a week, i still remember i check the unbilled amount last week it was RM40+ then i watch a video on youtube, a low quality 5 minutes video and then i check the unbilled the next day it was already RM230+..that's like the most expensive video i ever watched, now my line is barred, i'm planning to wait for the bill next week then pay them and change to digi unlimited, for safety

n btw, the mtweeter i don't even know what is that, they already charged me like that for 4 months, even after i complain in maxis ttdi about 3-4 times..the last time i went the cs officer, a lady , she terminated for me then it's ok already

That's is accumulated amount for a few month.

I don't think Maxis will able heard what we are saying.. Please do email SKMM and report all the problem. Suggest them to make it illegal for operator to auto change the rate without the user have control.

I give them a few suggestion, if you do email please also do so. My suggestion was

1. Once finish quota allocation auto disable data access. Consumer can use USSD/SMS to purchase another block just like prepaid broadband.

2. Charges for after quota allocation should reasonable. not 100 times more than bundled one.

I think you are can add others.

youtube takes up alot of data usage? i occasionally watch youtube posted in FB biggrin.gif

1 Q is, we OFF cellular and 3g, then we run on Wifi, will it somehow reconnect using cellular data? Does Off-ing cellular data can prevent data roaming (roaming OFF i assume) but wifi ON, will get bill shock? probably will go overboard for awhile soon, dowan happy happy go and back shock mati tongue.gif

youtube doesnt take up alot of data usage. for me 500mb is more than enough monthly for me. i do facebook, web browsing, you tube & chatting as well no problem. never exceed my 500mb data limit. just remember to connect to WIFI whenever you have a chance.

Depends on the video quality..if you watch HD youtube clips then yes alot data (dont ask me which youtube clip is HD) coz i dont know laugh.gif

OFF Cellular DATA and 3G and run on WiFi = Run on WiFi ONLY will not try to connect to Cellular DATA because if its set to OFF, its OFF definitely

Same turning off CELLULAR DATA will prevent DATA ROAMING. and if you turn on WiFi only during roaming say when you're overseas. No BILL SHOCK cause it uses the Internet Connection at the location youre in and not your roaming.

Tried and tested when i was in Amsterdam and Bangkok laugh.gif never got any bill shock for data. Only bill shock was for my calls and SMS laugh.gif lucky company pay!

btw, if ON 3g and OFF cellular, data still running? logically by jz off cellular should have block every leakage no? hmm.gif
