Basically it'd be the best if we use digi plans cuz they dont have exceeding charges, just reduce the speed to normal 128kbps would be sufficient eh

p.s
I used the first package before too with my iphone 3G lol,the usage was excessive, and i was still stuck with the contract
then i terminated the package with 5 more months + penalty lols

Dear All,

I would like to share my case here.  smile.gif

I am facing the same problem now with MAXIS!!!  vmad.gif

Ok. I try to make it short.  hmm.gif

I got my iphone4 on the 24th Sept 10 and my bill captured until 27th Sept 10.

Maxis charged me usage of 363mb (which is equivalent to RM18++ in the bill (from 24-27th Sept 10) but my iphone shows total data usage of 353mb as at today, 2 Oct 2010.

I went to Maxis Center TTDI and i was poorly served by a fellow called AzXXXX.
He cant explain why my phone shows only 353mb but they charged me 363mb and mentioned sth funny:

1) Although i hv a 2gb/mth data plan (ivalue2), it doesnt mean that i have approx. 66mb/day (2,000,000mb/30day)! WTF!  shakehead.gif

2) He said for Ivalue2, Maxis is actually charging me abt RM50/mth for the 2gb/mth data plan only, so i m not entitled to 66mb/day! So i told him it is Maxis' problem rather than my problem whether Maxis charged me RM15 or RM50 or RM1 for the 2gb/mth data plan, as long as i signed the 2gb/mth plan, i shld b entitled for the 2gb/mth or approx 66mb/day! He laughed at me and asked: WHY THIS IS MAXIS PROBLEM??  sweat.gif

3) I told him i surfed net via wifi in my house most of the time, so the data usage shldnt be so high. He said that WIFI usually is not stable and when it happens, 3g data will be used. (of cos i know whether the phone is connected to wifi or 3g bcoz u can easily see it at the screen!!!!)
The CS was really bad and lousy! When i asked for his name, he did not even look at me and tell me his name. He just point me to his name tag and look at somewhere else.  mad.gif

I was pissed off and headed straight to The Garden Maxis Centre.

I noticed that when Maxis overcharged, they will usually:
1) At first, insist that u hv over-used and make u think twice on the complaint.
2) When they know they couldnt changed ur mind, they will offer to waive 50% of the usage for u. They will then tell u that even if u want to lodge it as a case (which they will giv u a case no.), u MAY not even get a single cent rebate.
However, I insisted to lodge a complaint.

If this case cant be resolved happily, i am ready to pay for the penalty and go straight to Digi Centre!

I have warned all my frens who are getting the Data Plan from Maxis. I hope u guys take extra precaution especially on the 1st month of your data usage! Pls also be reminded that the 1st month of ur data usage will not come after 1 month, it depends on ur Billing Date. It may come right after 1 week!

I wonder if my phone connected to WIFI but with the Mobile Data switched ON, will i be charged for the 3g mobile data too althoght the screen shows connected to WIFI????  hmm.gif

I have been a MAXIS customer for more than 5years! I think it is the right time to make a change, for me!  laugh.gif

Sorry for long story!

Please do email MCMC and CMC forum.. Even I still waiting for 1st bill I already emailing than and raise a issues of unfair practice of Maxis.

What's really unfair for us is

1) you can't check how much you already use the data. This information suppose to be available to consumer when consumer ask for. Do you know it's wrong for a seller to sell a product without a price tag? This is even worse.

2) The charges for the over quota is really outrageous. If they can give you 1Gb for let's said RM 50 for ivalue 1 (RM50 goes to call + sms). It's about RM 0.0005 /10KB. How come they can charge 100 times (100000%) or 0.05/10KB for over the quota. That's really CUT THROAT.

No body ever got mad when there are over their bundle minutes right? Because the rate is about 10-30% higher compare to bundle minutes.

As for you issue, you did suppose to get 66MB/dayx4 days = 265MB. This is another problem with pro-rate. I believe if you ever make a scene they will waive it. The problem is, you will never know upfront how much you can use for the 1st Bill. of course you will be using a lot's for a few days coz of app installation, trying out, friend trying out and so on. Thinking you got 2GB of data. BUT you are not. Unless the give specifically your billing date + how much you can you then it's different story. They never mention about this pro-rate things. Unless you working in billing stuff you will never know this.

If the government can see the reasoning for 1 sen round up/down (1 to 2 sen extra = consumer gain, 3 - 4 sen = merchant gain). They should see about this pro rate allocation. They should be something like this

Billing within 1-14 days after register = 1 month no bill, brought to 2nd Bill. So you will paid 1.5x more in 2nd bill but you get your 1.5x allocation (still pro rate la).

Billing within 15-30 = like current practice. Pro-rate the 1st bill.

BTW still waiting for my 1st Bill.. Hopefully no ISHOCK.

Yes!

RM0.05 for every 10KB is damn expensive and doesnt make sense. It is ridiculous! vmad.gif

I am sure the majority of those who get their bill right after 1 week or so will be SURPRISED as they never inform u of ur entitlement. It is a TRAP!

I asked the fellow y Maxis charged me for 363mb data usage up to 27/09/10 but my phone shows only 353mb as at 02/10/10, he said Apple's record is incorrect. He said Maxis' record is 99% correct most of the time. As We do not really have our own record to check against Maxis', we have no chance to prove them wrong! Even if u have your own data usage record, they can prove u wrong too! shakehead.gif

I wonder is there anyone in the world tried to sue Apple or Maxis for the incorrect data usage record??? At the end it will be just a never ending story and end up we as a consumer, to bear all the cost! vmad.gif

Btw, can you please provide me the link to MCMC or CMC? hmm.gif

Thank you so much, bro. laugh.gif

i know, while most people who usually post on these data usage forums vent their anger and complaints re: excessive data charges, i would like to hear from the users who don't get them.

is it because u stick to your monthly data credits/limits? if so, what is your surfing pattern like? is it mainly Facebook, emailing, MSN/chatting, real-time notification?

i finding it very odd, that most users can use over 1GB per month on their phones, when i'm assuming they all have wired/wireless broadband at home as well, or even nowadays, at most eateries/coffee shops have free Wifi. is it that dire, that one must use so much data on their phones?

reason why i'm asking is, i'm still deciding whether to move over to Digi or stick with Maxis, mostly based on data usage, as it will make or break my bills.

also another reason is, when i was away for 2 months, i used my Celcom broadband device 5GB, and for the month, with minor downloads & gaming as well, i just used 2GB for the month.

so my only assumption is ppl over use data bcoz they are constantly using it whilst at work, and also streaming videos alot.

note: based on my monthly usage/itemized bills, i've calculated if i stuck to Maxis, over 12 months, it will still work out CHEAPER than Digi, with the cost of the phone included of course.

For me, 2gb per month is sufficient. It may be more than sufficient for me too! smile.gif

It depends on how much u rely on the 3g data. For me, i am not worried much on the monthly data usage.

The point i wanted to highlight to all forumers here is the FIRST BILL! You have to take extra precaution on the first bill.

I suspect Maxis will charge u for data usage if u do not turn off the mobile data while surfing via WIFI. I hv learnt the lession and from now on, i will turn it off whenever there is WIFI around.

So i expect everything will be fine for the next month. smile.gif

Hopefully there is no more bill shock for the next bill! wink.gif

I faced the same problem when I went to TTDI Maxis centre last week. The guy is not willing to help me to find out further and he said it may be caused by data usage and the charge might be reasonable. Asked me to pay if I want to use the line. I keep on asking him if anyone can advise why the unbilled running high coz I don't want to get the same msg again the next day even after I paid. He keep on saying don't know and if I really want to find out the reason, asked me go and get the number and wait together with those buying Iphone 4 and there is no guarantee for answer to my problem.

I seriously can't stand with his attitude. I proceed to Sunway Maxis Centre. At least there is a technical counter and he suggest to lodge the report. Most important is now the issue solved.

I will never visit TTDI Maxis Centre again though it's the nearest

Actually, how Maxis assign a billing cycle? I read it varies from 7, 14, 21, 28th etc...

Assuming registering on 27th September.

I am on 500mb plan on my iphone3g, then got once i used too much and i am scared that i over quota. So i call up maxis and say, can i check how much data i used already, they tell me cannot, and i have to wait for my bill

so yes, they are just trying to cheat you so that you over used. luckily i back off and stop using it. end of the month i see i use up 450mb++, almost over 500mb, and luckily, i din't.

so, just be cautious when using it. dont use it like nobody business. this type of thing complain complain also no use one, they already wanted to cheat you, so of course they will stand firm

if they don't want to cheat you, they should let you know that you overused, or at least let you know when you asked, or check online. Or well, just automatically upgrade you to the next level of plan!

This is Maxis!

They are supposed to tell us how much data we hv spent at least to those who purposely call them to check! Maybe they are too lazy to check for u. whistling.gif

I am sure they are able to tell as they printed my each n every data usage for me when i lodged a report at Maxis Centre TTDI yesterday(not police report though).

Mayb next time u guys can go to any maxis centre and ask for it. laugh.gif

I am using 3GS for a year now. Normal users will not be able to exhaust the 2GB data provided if your house has wifi....heavy download normally we use, wifi....even if you on 24/7 data during daytime, the palia iphone batt also cannot tahan...
I will also be switching to digi once my contract expires, cause ever since i enrol to ivalue 2, (RM155) the bill always come up to RM250++ ... fxxking cutthroat

i would like to find out why does ur bill come up to an excess of RM250 monthly. is the bulk of the remaining RM100 from over use of data?

i posted in this thread in january, when i first got my i3gs.

I'm happy so far to say that based on constant vigilance + prudent use, I have never exceeded 200 mb per month (on a 500mb package). I use wifi at home and work. 3G coverage when I'm outside is limited to fb and twitter (and sometimes email). I find that the battery tends to die faster than I can use the data anyway. But I was strict - i told maxis from day one to set my billing period to the 28th. i did not rock out and use the iphone from day 1.

Are they to be blamed? i think so to a certain extent. but noone put a gun to your head when you sign up for the contract. BE CAREFUL and AWARE as a user - this country is not known for being kind to consumers.

These bill shocks keep happening but seems like Maxis does not really care abt it.

Two weeks ago i convinced myself to sign a 2yrs contract with Maxis for the Iphone. I hv regretted, seriously. doh.gif

I will terminate the contract 5 mths later as soon as i hv recovered the prepayment of RM620.
