 iPhone Data Usage Issues (Maxis, Celcom, DIGI), Usage & Bill diff - High bill charges!

anyway.. maybe out of topic but its kinda related.. i found out that when im using the iOS 4.1 my phone battery drains soooo much faster.. (before sleep still got 50 percent.. wake up.. phone dead already.. wake up at 7 a.m.. haha) it acts like doing something while im sleeping.. luckily i turned off the data connection since im using wifi at home..

Now i going back to 4.0 and the battery issues gone already.. i wont discuss how u can rollback the iOS.. hehe

just downloaded dataman app to track my usage, app have to run in the background to work.. so it will drain a lil bit of juice

OS 4.1 manages battery and data usage better if u make sure to exit the apps after use. Otherwise, all your apps will be running in the background.

THIS IS IMPORTANT for all IOS 4.1 Users

To end / exit apps, double-press the HOME button to bring up the running apps menu. Tap and hold on one of the apps to bring up the "-" balloon on each apps icon. Tap on the "-" balloon to end the respective apps.

Just to be clear...the way Maxis counts data usage is both sent and received amount combined, right?? Sorry for the noob question, first time iPhone and Maxis plan user...

Its normal now....keep monitoring for a few days....and you're good to go....did u check with yor telco on the usage??

Dear All,

I would like to share my case here. smile.gif

I am facing the same problem now with MAXIS!!! vmad.gif

Ok. I try to make it short. hmm.gif

I got my iphone4 on the 24th Sept 10 and my bill captured until 27th Sept 10.

Maxis charged me usage of 363mb (which is equivalent to RM18++ in the bill (from 24-27th Sept 10) but my iphone shows total data usage of 353mb as at today, 2 Oct 2010.

I went to Maxis Center TTDI and i was poorly served by a fellow called AzXXXX.


He cant explain why my phone shows only 353mb but they charged me 363mb and mentioned sth funny:

1) Although i hv a 2gb/mth data plan (ivalue2), it doesnt mean that i have approx. 66mb/day (2,000,000mb/30day)! WTF! shakehead.gif

2) He said for Ivalue2, Maxis is actually charging me abt RM50/mth for the 2gb/mth data plan only, so i m not entitled to 66mb/day! So i told him it is Maxis' problem rather than my problem whether Maxis charged me RM15 or RM50 or RM1 for the 2gb/mth data plan, as long as i signed the 2gb/mth plan, i shld b entitled for the 2gb/mth or approx 66mb/day! He laughed at me and asked: WHY THIS IS MAXIS PROBLEM?? sweat.gif

3) I told him i surfed net via wifi in my house most of the time, so the data usage shldnt be so high. He said that WIFI usually is not stable and when it happens, 3g data will be used. (of cos i know whether the phone is connected to wifi or 3g bcoz u can easily see it at the screen!!!!)


The CS was really bad and lousy! When i asked for his name, he did not even look at me and tell me his name. He just point me to his name tag and look at somewhere else. mad.gif

I was pissed off and headed straight to The Garden Maxis Centre.

I noticed that when Maxis overcharged, they will usually:
1) At first, insist that u hv over-used and make u think twice on the complaint.
2) When they know they couldnt changed ur mind, they will offer to waive 50% of the usage for u. They will then tell u that even if u want to lodge it as a case (which they will giv u a case no.), u MAY not even get a single cent rebate.


However, I insisted to lodge a complaint.

If this case cant be resolved happily, i am ready to pay for the penalty and go straight to Digi Centre!

I have warned all my frens who are getting the Data Plan from Maxis. I hope u guys take extra precaution especially on the 1st month of your data usage! Pls also be reminded that the 1st month of ur data usage will not come after 1 month, it depends on ur Billing Date. It may come right after 1 week!

I wonder if my phone connected to WIFI but with the Mobile Data switched ON, will i be charged for the 3g mobile data too althoght the screen shows connected to WIFI???? hmm.gif

I have been a MAXIS customer for more than 5years! I think it is the right time to make a change, for me! laugh.gif

yeap , quite normal now , fingers crossed , to be honest I am very Happy with Digi CS , called up and rectify my problem immediately and assure me that the problem lies with the hardware , as in their data counter i wasn't even near 30mb that day , so i reset it and it's normal ...

i've got only 1 complain , 3G is slow in detecting , and at places reception can be terribad eg: at home ... haha

Always got this error:

"You have left this browser idle for more than 10 minutes.

previously im also facing this problem...
i think is ur browser have block the pop up from maxis....

add on: there some procedure need to be done in the pop up window like changing the temporary password and etc ...forgotten already ...

after that it will be no problem on login to maxis website...

Still ok ma , since i can monitor myself on data used ...i think wont be exceed 1gb for me cause now i only used 100mb for 1 week ...
but kinda troublesome cause only can check the detail on maxis centre ....
