i know, while most people who usually post on these data usage forums vent their anger and complaints re: excessive data charges, i would like to hear from the users who don't get them.

is it because u stick to your monthly data credits/limits? if so, what is your surfing pattern like? is it mainly Facebook, emailing, MSN/chatting, real-time notification?

i finding it very odd, that most users can use over 1GB per month on their phones, when i'm assuming they all have wired/wireless broadband at home as well, or even nowadays, at most eateries/coffee shops have free Wifi. is it that dire, that one must use so much data on their phones?

reason why i'm asking is, i'm still deciding whether to move over to Digi or stick with Maxis, mostly based on data usage, as it will make or break my bills.

also another reason is, when i was away for 2 months, i used my Celcom broadband device 5GB, and for the month, with minor downloads & gaming as well, i just used 2GB for the month.

so my only assumption is ppl over use data bcoz they are constantly using it whilst at work, and also streaming videos alot.

note: based on my monthly usage/itemized bills, i've calculated if i stuck to Maxis, over 12 months, it will still work out CHEAPER than Digi, with the cost of the phone included of course.

i would like to find out why does ur bill come up to an excess of RM250 monthly. is the bulk of the remaining RM100 from over use of data?

i posted in this thread in january, when i first got my i3gs.

I'm happy so far to say that based on constant vigilance + prudent use, I have never exceeded 200 mb per month (on a 500mb package). I use wifi at home and work. 3G coverage when I'm outside is limited to fb and twitter (and sometimes email). I find that the battery tends to die faster than I can use the data anyway. But I was strict - i told maxis from day one to set my billing period to the 28th. i did not rock out and use the iphone from day 1.

good to know that you've never been charge excess for overuse. i think i will be similar to your usage, as all i use will be Facebook, Twitter, emailing, chatting & web-browsing. and since i'm consciously aware of usage of 3G data services on the impact of battery life, i will not be browsing too much. i won't have too much time to browse when i'm working anyways.

hmm.... maybe than 2GB will be more than sufficient for my needs if i go for the iValue 2 plan.

thanks for your feedback smile.gif

sample of my bill for your review....this month got RM190 ++ after you deduct the roaming charges...

thanks Gary for sharing a sample of ur bill. is this the same latest iValue 2 plan from Maxis with the iPhone 4?

i know both SMS, MMS & data for 3G services & internet is grouped under "Data". what i am puzzled is..... how come they don't deduct/rebate the 3G internet data from ur bill?

if i am to understand how the bill works:

Domestic Charges:
- Data : RM47.85 = RM20.00 (SMS rebate) + RM0.25 (MMS rebate) + RM27.60 (??? 3G data)

.... then, how come they don't offer u rebate of RM27.60 as well in ur bill?
