QUOTE(b48753 @ May 26 2010, 02:16 AM) wei, have u ever installed FB-DIMM which not brought from Apple?n is it void any of the ACPP warranty if installing FB-DIMM brought from outside? No issue, same apply to other Mac. Since they (Apple) say RAM is user installable, then it's ok to do so. But like Eithanius mentioned, it's not always the case, i have a pair of FB-DIMM, when installed, the Mac Pro won't restart. But other than that it works fine. If I were to send the Mac Pro in for warranty, they might blame me for not using Apple RAM.

QUOTE(xaw5126 @ May 26 2010, 04:10 PM) eh? is that name Axis? that's managed by Sapura... long time ago, it was registered as Sapura too... so the older members, we still call it Sapura I can't recall the name but Axis could well be it. Anyway, will make my way to the address stated. Thanks again, mate. It is just that I hope my issue falls under the ambit of the warranty otherwise it would be a futile trip.

QUOTE(Eithanius @ May 26 2010, 11:41 AM) I did... And it will not void your ACPP warranty, unless under certain circumstances, which I think it's best for brother wei to explain... I bought mine from Kingston and OWC... Btw, if you happen to have MacPro1,1 or 2,1 running DDR2-667 FB-DIMM, let me know, I have those 1GB modules (4 of them), wanna sell them off cheap... http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1109079&hl=I see..If Kingston there's a seller local, but the max RAM module is only 2GB, no 4GB..

@leeseng1990 please click your drive & press cmd+i ... look for the line : Format : ...
if it says NTFS ... you need to install NTFS 3G

What WD HDD do you have? Is it the mac version? Why did your WD hard disk workable without any formatting and 3rd party app installation but your hitachi cant work... All HDD are mostly NTFS formatted unless it is the mac version.

@leeseng1990 If its not the mac version then it should be NTFS formatted and how did a NTFS formatted WD HDD can work on a Mac? Unless you are telling me its FAT32 formatted which I doubt it is...

Get the DVD that say "Mac OS X Installation" that came with your Mac. Or retail Snow Leopard disc. Put in and boot from it. Once you selected language. The go to the Utilities menu choose Disk Utility and do a Repair on your hard drive.

The go to the Utilities menu choose Disk Utility and do a Repair on your hard drive. That is in terms of software. If hardware, use the Application DVD and run a EXTENDED test. It detected my MBP's HDD defect. Currently my MBP is with VR tech, pray that they can sort things out.
