Have any of you encountered this situation before? You turned your mac off, start cleaning it back and front, basically everywhere, flipping it on its back and front and then suddenly you cant turn it ON?

I experienced it before, called up a technician friend of mine and he said maybe my Logicboard gone, but i said noo-lah and asked him whether the keyboard ribbon is the culprit? he said its worth a shot, so i decided to take out the screws,oh btw im using a late 2006 white MB with no warranty, heres a guide for the fainthearted.

I was right, the ribbon was loose, this thing here:

I decided to send to Machines instead of calling Apple Care. I thought it would take a shorter time this way instea of having to arrange for pickup etc..I'll give a call to Machines and demand they not clear my drive then. Or not I prefer to take it back and at least backup first.
*
Masamune, take a chill pill first and asses the situation you are in carefully. Computers Mac or Windows need to be backup-ed all the time because Data Loss is a serious problem, and before sending anything for service, its best to keep your data backed up to the latest version possible through Time Machine or other means, and it doenst make any difference if you send it to VR Tech, Sapura or Machines, doesnt matter how good or bad they are its never wrong to be extra safe.

Having said that you were given false information by b48753, Applecare doesnt provide free pickups from your house that is only for desktops as in Mac Pros and iMacs which still have Applecare coverage and within a 60KM radius of the service center, Apple is not like Dell with its Service, although i hope it was as comprehensive as Dell.

Again, i doubt they'd erase your data since you clearly indicated that its a battery issue, unless its something related to OS then they'd erase your stuff off the HDD, and do a backup of it, this is standard service by all the service centers but they'd inform you first before attempting anything, feel free to call them and tell them not to erase your stuff just to be sure, and take this as reminder, always always back up, HDD failures are not platform specific it does happen.

And you jumped the gun and judged them so fast for what tongue.gif dont put to much emotion in to what people say in forums, judge anything for yourself, good for you on the battery exchange smile.gif oh and if the reseller gave you good service do remember to give a positive feedback aight?

Thanks, Wei!

I wish Apple had updated the support site on apple.com so I could've saved half an hour.

no its the resellers initiative to inform apple,

@wei: Sapura still operates corporate sales with Taylor's and other Unis, and retains service center.

Anyone have had experience with the yellow tint on iMacs? What usually happens if we're unfortunate enough to receive one of these?

Do they deliver you a replacement iMac (and take the old one back) or do you send it to service centers to get it replaced?

US people usually get replacements. Would like to hear your experience. It's probably a little different if you purchase from online store vs retailer (since you can take it back to them), would like to hear from both.

DHL picks it up from you, and after awhile a new one is sent back, if its well within the 14 day DOA policy

Guys, I need some pointers from all... A DVD disc stucked in my slot-in Macbook A1278 Unibody 13". Attempts to take the disc out is no-go. So, I am thinking of getting a new replacement drive for my Macbook... Anyone can help me getting it by not visiting the Service Center? Thanks...
*
why do you need to do that? just take out your old drive by disassembling it and remove the disc gently, that'll do the trick.

hello apple people...

where can i reinstall my OS? how much they charge? n where can i fint the adobe CS4 creative CD for mac..actually im newbie for mac.. thanks
*
why ask someone else to do it when there are plenty of guides by just googling? You cant find CS4 anywhere since its replaced by CS5, can get it from any apple reseller, prices ranges from 1499 to 9599.
