QUOTE(tarvalslain87 @ Apr 30 2010, 11:37 PM) Some of the problem that Apple Malaysia can't decide, they will pass it to Apple Enterprise, which could be at USA. I was put to the American due to the RAID battery replacement. |

If you call the AppleCare, the work following the time of day .. if you're calling them early in the morning, your call might get picked up by Oz (or Malaysian working at Oz call centre, as I've experienced before). If you're calling them later in the afternoon, you'll get someone who seems to speak American or British English .. but pressed further, you can hear they're not American, neither British ..

QUOTE(Ryoga @ May 3 2010, 01:18 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « wei, was wondering this actually works --------------- About the call, they will reroute to whichever is available. No fix "who gets who" kinda thing. What who fancy talking to the American? I'm glad if they get it done on first call, hate call waitings. So long they help me on what I want, thats it. It can be anyone. This post has been edited by wei: May 3 2010, 06:43 PM |

I have some problem with my battery (I think) today. Before this it was perfectly fine until i see battery indication on top of the screen showing (Not Charging). I didnt bother at 1st until i brought it to uni this morning and realise i couldnt wake mbp up. Have to wait till i get back home and use back the charger then only can use mbp again. Is it the battery problem? My mbp is late 2009 one. Still under warranty.

If the problem repeat again, don't wait, call up AppleCare if you are not in town, or visit Service Center if you can reach them.

Oh no... 2 or 3 days back I heard a 'kraak' sound coming from my MBP. I suspected it's coming from my WD Scorpio Blue 500GB. So I rebooted to DVD to run Disk Util and checked my HD for errors and there, got errors! I've heard the sound a few times so far. Now everyday I need to do a time machine backup and check for drive integrity. However, I haven't heard the sound for the past more than 24 hrs already and everything still checks out fine. Red alert now.
EDIT: I just heard it. the sound is a different sound... so I'm not hearing it wrong... This post has been edited by MetalZone: May 15 2010, 12:10 PM |

You can always mute the speaker and eject any disc. Move your laptop to somewhere quiet and pay attention as you start App or copy files.
A dying HDD often produce a clicking/kicking sound as if the drive spin up upon power on, but it will repeat itself in couple times. |

My HDD produces this (constant) 'kraak' sound whenever I'm loading one or more application or when my Macbook is busy. Does it mean it's giving warning that it's gonna fail/spoil?

It's hard to say but if you have backups, you should not fear much.
The sound are abnormal from the usual read/write sound, as if the drive is working extra hard, the sound get louder as it move closer to EOL. But this is only one of the many symptom from a dying drive. Some drive died never produce abnormal noise. |

Found the culprit. It is indeed the chatbox of our new flashaholic forum... i get that sound when it fails to update the chatbox due to non-connection.
What a false alarm. Thing is, at low volumes it sounds like it came from the hard disk considering that I wasn't using external speakers or headphones. btw, I did mute the sound wondering if the sound came from my speakers. And I didn't hear it during that time. In my almost 2 decades of using computers, I've had two hard disks die on me... silently. One of them had just started clicking and clicking the moment I started it and it was already dead by then. So absolutely no pre-warning. QUOTE(lilko @ May 15 2010, 03:26 PM) Hi~ I think, the first thing you do if you run into ANY problem is NOT to resort to the Windows methodology to reformat and reinstall the OS. Crashes / hardware failure sometimes do get logged and there are ways to check these logs even tho you cant boot into OSX. Reformating = lost of logs.Actually.. Can help? I reboot my mac and done a clean installation using the dvd as a result of my mac not being able to proceed to the desktop.. It keep stopping at blue screen and fail to load.. I have done a clean install.. But, when I shut it dwn and start it again...The same thing happens... For your info, I am not sure whether its cuz of this or not.. I have dwnloaded steam program and things just turn bad for my mac... And may I ask.. When u have done clean installation... Will the Mac hdd that you name before the clean install still remain the same? Will doing an installation for first time mac option be of any difference? Shall I try that? Or isit my HDD got problem? Please help. Thanks... My mac is a white... It is highly unlikely caused by Steam either, because millions of us are using it without it causing OS X to die. If you did a clean install and it still doesn't boot, means its a hardware problem most likely. OS X is not Windows XP. Step 1. Call Applecare (if on warranty) Step 2. Follow their instructions, they will teach you how to diagnose If not on warranty (white mac = macbook?), you can call one of the local Apple Repair centers, Sapura or VR tech. Describe the problem to them and maybe ask for a quotation (how much to diagnose + repair + parts etc). This post has been edited by frega: May 15 2010, 07:23 PM |

Hi to all.
I was referred to this link to post my Macbook problem. Hopefully some sifu out here can assist me. For the past 6 months. My Macbook's USB ports have been experiencing cut-off when I plug in my mouse and external HDD. The USB ports have loosen/widen to an extent that by merely touching the USB cables, it will cause the connection to cut off. I have asked the local Mac distributor to quote for the repair of the USB ports. The quoted price is way too expensive. RM 1800++ (with exchange of faulty logic board). RM 4000++ (without exchange of faulty logic board). I was informed that the USB connector are built in together on the logic board. I have also tried fiddling with the USB connectors inerts, the spring like plate that (in my opinion) secures the USB inserts in place. It seems to help but after a while, everything loosens up again. Can anyone advise if I can get this repaired or service at any computer shops in KL? Thank you. |
