QUOTE(b48753 @ May 26 2010, 02:16 AM) wei, have u ever installed FB-DIMM which not brought from Apple?n is it void any of the ACPP warranty if installing FB-DIMM brought from outside? I did... And it will not void your ACPP warranty, unless under certain circumstances, which I think it's best for brother wei to explain...I bought mine from Kingston and OWC... Btw, if you happen to have MacPro1,1 or 2,1 running DDR2-667 FB-DIMM, let me know, I have those 1GB modules (4 of them), wanna sell them off cheap... http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1109079&hl= |

QUOTE(b48753 @ Jul 20 2010, 05:18 PM) Yesterday I did called Apple Care due to my mighty mouse scrool down doesn't work.. Then They teach a technique to rub the scroll ball on the paper, while the mouse bottom facing up..and it works !! So next time if you have problem with the scrool ball just apply this method.. Normally I would recommend this providing the warranty does not cover, but if it's still covered, just send it in for a replacement...Added on July 20, 2010, 5:20 pm But for me the best ASP is still VR Tech..so far has no 'side effect' problems when dealing with them. |

Just want to chip in on my rather unpleasant encounter while performing offline updates on my freshly-installed Snow Leopard on my Mac after ditching el-crippo Lion. Encountered errors upon installing Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo using offline installers:
As it turns out the culprit was an expired software update certificate. Apparently it plagued all offline updaters with certs signed to expire on March 24th 2012: Remedies are to redownload all old offline installers, now signed to expired on October 25th, 2019, a good 7 years to keep if you're still running 2012 OSes by then. Faster alternative for me was to back-date my Mac to the day before the cert expiry to continue my reinstallation of Snow Leopard (I hate leaving my work unfinished), while download new offline installers overnight for archiving. |

QUOTE(wei @ Mar 26 2012, 02:25 PM) Yes Apple knows the issues...Unfortunately 10.6.8 Combo update precedes this Software Installer Update, and I believe this only applies to updates via Apple Software Updates, not offline installers...? Sides this applies only for Snow Leopard, and I read somewhere that the cert issue extends all the way to Lion 10.7.2 Combo Update... Anyhow, I never get to try this since I usually apply combo updates immediately after fresh installs of OSes before those smaller updates like this one... EDIT: Tried reinstalling one of those cert expired update and it bypasses the error entirely. This post has been edited by Eithanius: Mar 26 2012, 08:10 PM |
