I just being approved AMEX MBB Ikhwan, haven't take the card yet from the branch. once I saw AMEX Gold card, i feel like want to own this card because its benefit is far more better than AMEX ikhwan. but not sure whether I got the chances to have this card since they already approved me AMEX Ikhwan

When Ikhwan AMEX was first introduced, they offer a conversion from conventional AMEX to Islamic Ikhwan AMEX.

Should be no problem as AMEX Ikhwan is issued by Maybank Islamic whereas the soon to be officially launched AMEX Gold Credit Card is issued by American Express itself. I've been holding an AMEX Gold Credit Card issued by Maybank (the very hideous designed AMEX Gold with the word Maybankard printed on it) for almost a year when i applied for another Green Personal Charge Card from AMEX and was approved in just 2 weeks.

Free conversion from the Maybank issued Classic and Gold AMEX Credit Card to be exact. Not the AMEX issued by AMEX itself.

By the way guys, the AMEX Gold credit card issued by American Express is now up on American Express Malaysia website - AMERICAN EXPRESS GOLD CREDIT CARD

To those holding the Citibank-Giant credit card, please be informed that the maximum rebate for the card in one year is capped at RM600. I didn't receive any rebate for my spending in the last few months due to this. So Sad!
*
Don't be sad, go get UOB One Card where you will also enjoy rebate 2% at Giant. Once you max out the rebate for your Citibank, switch to UOB or other cards that gives rebate.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 18 2009, 01:46 PM)
RM60k to spend @ Giant is indeed quite a bit but well, perhaps she changed all her electrical items?! On groceries alone it might not be so possible but with the many items Giant sells, it's not 100% impossible! tongue.gif
*
I don't think she said she spend RM60K at Giant. ronnie was saying in order to get RM600 rebate one needs to spend RM30K. Anyway it is common for people who are in the restaurant businesss to make their purchases at hypermarkets and as such not surprising if one spend more than few hundreds ringgit every few days.

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Jun 18 2009, 06:23 PM)
Erh, don't mean to be pouring cold water on you but RM30K for a plat card means UOB low balled you  sad.gif    FYI my OCBC Gold back in the early 90' already started out with RM30K already (almost 20 yrs ago)
*
In the early 90s there was no plat card if not mistaken so Gold Cards ( UOB started Midas in the 90s ) holders may have high credit limt. Nowadays gold card credit limit can even start lower than RM10K.

Anyway, as mentioned earlier, nowadays there is no status in having Plat as it is so common. In this early millenium, when I first got my first Plat and went to the phone shop to get buy a phone, the sales manager was like so impressed, nowadays who cares? Even youngters can have visa and mastercard eventhough it is a debit card.

QUOTE(jack2 @ Jun 18 2009, 06:09 PM)
Should not be the case since my UOB Preferred Platinum was approved 1 week later with 30k credit limit... SCB is kiasu.
*
Bro, congrats on your UOB Plat with credit limit of RM30K. Some Robinson Plat even lower credit limit. According to UOB website, their Plat has no preset limit.

UOB Preferred Platinum leads you to a road of endless opportunities ahead. With no pre-set spending limit*, your purchasing power adjusts with the use of your Card. It is possible for you to spend beyond your credit limit with the UOB Preferred Platinum Card

I just got my new UOB Plat card as the previous one expiring next month. I like the card with Matt finish compared to my other cards which are kind of "glossy" or "smooth" finnished.

ah ..hem ...... not that senior lah blush.gif It was my first card really. But a recap on some history, OCBC was very generous then with a min starting limit of RM15K for classic & RM30K for gold. When the first plat cards were introduced, the min limit was RM100K fyi

Ladies and gentlement, it's not that I spend so much in Giant, I use the card for bills and other purchases with 0.5% rebate. It's just that I have reach my limit, and I didn't notice that the rebate stopped 2 months ago until the recent statement, which is quite confusing. The cash rebate can only exchange Giant voucher which they send about RM 240 about 4 months ago and until now, the balance of RM 360 I still didn't receive, as far as I know they are supposed to send out the voucher once you hit a RM 20 rebate.

Nowadays, I realise that many cards got hidden terms & condition and fees which is quite disturbing as once you sign up and approve and start using the card, you may suddenly realise that you may not be able to fulfill the t&c, for example, I have UOB lady card which is free for life - unless you swipe 12 times a year (minimum once a month or else there will be a penalty of RM8 per month), EON Matta also the same 12 times a year and hassle too as you can view and redeem points online only. Then, you got to watch out not to go over the approved credit limit, I have RHB Platinum with RM 21k limit, if I use exceed the limit by 1 ringgit, they will charge you RM50 penalty, then everytime need to call for waiver. Shouldn't the bank decline the transaction to go through, instead they charge the customer using the term 'excess limit fee'. Even with all these, we still can't live without the magnetic attraction of using the plastic card and the self gratification to let others know your card colour.

You:nique card 9% option

Your finance charge is only 9% p.a. for the first 12 months, and thereafter it is subject to your payment behavior in accordance with Bank Negara tier interest guidelines. If you consistently make minimum payment every month, the finance charge remains at 9% throughout the tenure of the card.

From above, after the 1st year, it says if you consistently make minimum payment then you enjoy the 9% interest. What if you pay more than the minimum payment?

Rule No.1, do not have outstanding balance.
Rule No.2. see Rule No.1

You:nique card 2X rewards

Means you get twice the reward points as compared to the cash rebate option. If you ask me, just forget about this option and take the cash rebate option where you get cash back and reward points.

You:nique cash rebate

Please note that the cash rebate is based on tiers and up tp 2%. If you have read previous post in this thread, the max cash rebate is something like max RM68 where no cash rebate is given if you spend more than RM5K for each statement period.

Click here to read more on my comments on You:nique

Direct Access Card - if you are a graduate or member of some profesiional board you will get free for life annual fees without any conditions attached.

Since you spend so much, may i suggest that you get an AMEX Gold Charged Card (because Plat Charged Card hard to get AF waiver) where you won't technically have a credit limit and at the same time they do have pretty good offers (presently 8X rewards points for petrol and groceries) and the "cash back" in terms of redemption is 1.5% if you sign up for 3X Turbo irregardless of how much you spend.

if no outstanding balance every month means no finance charge...
if no finance charge why border about the interest of 9%p.a or even if it's 100%p.a....

i think it need only consistent minimum payment every month is good enough to keep the card finance charge rate at 9% p.a throughout the tenure of the card... bank also want to make money la....

That is true that not everyshop accept AMEX but based on your spending power I see no harm getting AMEX where they do waive annual fees for their Gold Card if you request for it. Most established and chain shops in the malls do accept AMEX including hypermarkets like TESCO, JJ Supermarket, GIANT, etc. and even Air Asia. Anyway it is just a suggestion.
