Nope. Not many Malaysians have HSBC account if you compared to Maybank, CIMB and Public Bank and many of these people have a HSBC credit card.

hmm, wanna ask anyone know the reason for this?

My sis is currently holding citbank gold card, so i asked her to sub a standard card to me. but then after 2 weeks they say reject application.

i was like huh? first time know apply sub card also can reject one?

How old are you ? Do you have any other credit card that you're a principal cardholder yourself ? Did you have any credit card before ?

I am 25 this year and i am currently principal cardholder for a card from affin bank. so this is the cause of reject? because i already principal holder from another bank?

I have enrolled MBB Amex 8x promotions. But when I charge card into Tesco, the point act like normal. Just 2x. Anyone experience this?

Doubt it's cos you're principal holder from another bank. I have 2 principal cards and still managed to get a supp card from my dad

Ya, it is hard to apply for HSBC credit card, even i'm their savings account holder, also get rejected recently. Maybe will apply again after 6 month

For credit card minimum salary is RM1500.

Possibly skincladalien got some "unpleasant" financial history. The possibility of getting rejected for sub card is highly low unless something is very wrong.

the only loan i am aware of is my car loan which i paid on time every month. Anyway I just applied for the affin bank cc last month which i submit details like 3 month salary slip, EA form, bank statement, etc and got approved. so i dont think i got a bad record at CCRIS?

anyway my goal of getting a credit card is done, affin bank used 3 weeks to approve while citibank used about 5 weeks to reject. Initially i was afraid that the affin bank one wont approve so get a sub card cuz i heard its easier to get, now its totally opposite

Better go to Bank Negara to check your CCRIS record.


So you've been rejected for a credit card by Citibank very recently ? Hye is right. Usually people will have no problem applying for a supplementary card.

I think the issue is they do not allow a pricipal gold card holder to sub out a standard/classic card

Not really free membership for life. You need to make minimum transaction or spending per year.

No one will know the actual reason, except the related bank and staff dept. However, we can speculate here

My speculation is most likely due to your sister card spending and payment. Most likely not a good CC user rated by the bank.

Previously when I apply HSBC CC:
1) I have a PV a/c in HSBC
2) My co bank in my monthly salary
3) Clear credit risk, etc.

Rejected

Same condition, 6-months later, they call and offer me same card. Approved.
