Personally I like the concept of Paypass/VisaWave, it's convenient. But yea, it's annoying when they don't seem to know how to operate it.

QUOTE(hye @ Apr 10 2009, 04:36 PM) Yeah ... HSBC should learn from SCB that card design does matters. The HSBC Premier card is ugly and so plain looking despite being the best card in their stable. For that I think the Platinum or the Classic HSBC card got a better design. QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Apr 10 2009, 05:52 PM) Haha yea, their classic looks real neat imo.On a different note, which cards do you ppl think offers good discounts at a good variety of merchants? (especially food). Pretty much what I'm looking for when applying my next card =p (yes I know it's also alot to do with preference, like what places one frequents, but just wanna get some opinions) This post has been edited by ellimist: Apr 10 2009, 10:02 PM |

QUOTE(hye @ Apr 14 2009, 03:53 PM) Should be the updated version coz in Page 2 (Finance Charges) it states the new interest rates for credit card to be effective 31 March 2009. I dunno about you but I'll take the B&W version to be the confirmed information, whatever the CS says. Hmm true. Thought they were the only free one around (based on our list in front). If it does indeed have the admin fee, it looks like the one with the lowest admin fee now is Maybank We could double confirm this via the monthly cc statement. It should be printed on the back. Anyone could check this out ? |

And UOB Vox has buy 3 free 1 at Cathay. (limited per month, so basically u gotta do this early of the month)QUOTE(CrOmer @ Apr 14 2009, 08:07 PM) hye everybody There's no best. Depends on what you look for in a card and what are your needs. But since you won't be swiping much, one of those free for life ones should suit you. (eg : Maybank Petronas, and a number of CIMB cards, including Direct Access.) Refer to the frontpage, think there's a list therei would like to have a cc but i do not know what is the best cc..b4 this i never use or have cc..i just want to use cc for urgent case like to repairing my car.. anyone can suggest? QUOTE(Maxieos @ Apr 17 2009, 07:52 PM) I really saw this news at newspaper few months ago. It's to stop people using future money. It even discuss before iirc. What newspaper, and what date?Last year december it mention before hand by someone at the news. Why on earth would the government want to stop people from spending? To further plunge the economy downwards? In times like this, we encourage spending. Hence the low FD rates |

QUOTE(David83 @ Apr 18 2009, 01:08 AM) Encourage spending? I don't understand why the government is issuing bond called Sukuk Simpanan Rakyat with guarantted return of 5% when they supposed to encourage spending in order to boost the economy. Yea,but it's limited. I know 2.5 bil (or maybe even 5 bil) sounds alot, but it's way lower compared to actually leaving FD rates up there. You can't just ditch the rakyat with crappy rates, ppl will whine =p |

QUOTE(bingozero @ Apr 22 2009, 06:39 PM) Hello, Today I just get my Maybank Petronas credit card, just for few question that I want to know. Thank you. QUOTE(bingozero @ Apr 22 2009, 07:18 PM) The Maybank staff link it for me, when ever I swap my credit card, it will direct deduct my amount from my saving account. Was about to say no, but didn't know they had linkages like that. Erm, go to an ATM and put in your CC. Go to balance enquiry and see whether you have the option between your cc account and your savings account, that way you'll know if it's linked properly. Be careful, you don't want to end up drawing cash advance Not sure whether I can use for ATM to withdraw money using my credit card. But on another note, I can see why the bank would link it up like that, reduces the risk of default for them And why would you want your money directly deducted anyways |

QUOTE(siutimtim @ Apr 26 2009, 09:45 PM) Can someone with experience advice. Now I got HSBC amanah approve and get card already but I want to change to normal HSBC and they say different company or management so can not change and I have apply as new for normal HSBC card again. My question is do I need to cancel the amanah first before I apply normal hsbc card? I scare later they see I already got amanah so they don't approve another normal card for me already. The CS said it is different management, different card and credit line. Anyone know what I need to best to get my normal card approve? Cancel amanah first or not? Personally I don't think you need to cancel the amanah. Don't see why they can't give HSBC can't give you a card, since they're of different management than the amanah side. Probably you could call up the customer service and verify this (HSBC side, not the amanah guys).Just out of curiousity, why want to move from Amanah to the regular? |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Apr 26 2009, 10:02 PM) Indeed HSBC MPower Credit Card-i is issued and governed by HSBC Berhad wholly owned subsidiary, HSBC Amanah Berhad. Ah ok, never knew the privileges were different between the 2. Just assumed they would be kinda the same (like CIMB and DA Most probably because of the perks offered. Many promotions and privileges do not apply to HSBC Amanah credit card. Shame ... Infact I don't think too many ppl would know this. My fren was saying HSBC have pretty good privileges and he wanted to apply for one. He got himself an amanah one since he knew someone there. |

QUOTE(CrOmer @ May 4 2009, 08:25 PM) today i get my petronas cimb cc..and this is my first card.. Should be from statement. From posting date doesn't make sense. If it were from posting date, your first few transactions will be hit by interest, since the statement is monthly, i.e roughly 30 days.i have read statement from website http://www.bankinginfo.com.my and its say that You will enjoy an interest free period, usually 20 days from the posting date of the transactions (only for purchases) if you do not have any unpaid repayments due from the previous month. Therefore, if you make partial or minimum payment of the amount due, you will be charged an interest charge for all purchases paid through your card from the day the transactions are posted to your card. but from brochure cimb cc, it say that 20 days after statement..which one is true exactly Anyways, on when you get your statement you'll see a "due date". This is the last date you must pay off the entire bill if you don't wanna be subject to interest. |

QUOTE(winner @ May 7 2009, 09:36 PM) Bad experience with DA. I had cancelled my both DA master & visa 2 months ago. They always charged late charges and interest even late payment of just 1 day. For example, the payment due date was 4th of each month. I paid by cheque at CIMB autopay machine on 1st of every month. Even it was a local cheque, they took at least 3 working days to clear it and the payment transaction always happened on 4th or 5th. I was so tired to call them asking for late charges and interest waiver every month. Erm, technically the cheque got in late, so system just computes interest, pretty normal right? Probably u could pay earlier or just go deposit it into the machine instead?Secondly, the bonus point expire every 3 yrs. They forefeited my 15000 pts when I was busy in overseas. Recently, I redeemed a voucher. I asked them to send it to my hse but they charged courier fee which was shown in the bill statement of the following mth! Well yea, they don't have evergreen points like HSBC or Citibank. You probably should have kept track and redeemed before you went. And although it's rather annoying that they charge courier fee for the vouchers, but it is stated in the member's privileges booklet. |

QUOTE(winner @ May 8 2009, 09:52 PM) I totally agree to what u said. I think only ppl like us who used other bank cards before would know DA and CIMB bad service. Not only HLB, I also own Citi Platinum and Alliance, when there's only 1 or 2 days late, there's no penalty charges. I'm not a fanboy or anything, but seriously, just coz u don't get 1 or 2 days extra grace that's bad service? You're already getting like 20 days interest free period for a credit card -.- Yea if liquidity is a problem and the couple of days help, use another card which allows that. Moreover, I don't know whether any of u have experienced this. When I showed DA card at purchase counter, some retailers had no idea on which financial institution it is and asked me, "which bank?" or "can it be used?"!!! I also found out that DA cards' swipes were much slower than other cards, impatient retailers might have to wait a bit longer for the slip to come out from swipe machine. My previous DA visa also got rejected when I used it in Thailand. And I don't think swiping speed has anything to do with the card. As for going overseas, I believe you have to notify them. It's definately not a fantastic card or anything, but it's free for life and CIMB generally has discounts at a number of places I like, so no qualms from me |

QUOTE(winner @ May 9 2009, 07:24 AM) Different cards suit different ppl. For those who r bearable with the bank's service, and hassle free to ask for annual free waiver, DA might be the card u want, especially for fresh degree holders. But I reckon it's more practical to use CIMA than DA, since both r under the same bank and have the same feature. Further, the former is more recognised widely. Well yea, DA is a decent card, but recognition can be a problem. I had this Toyota fella asking "Direct Acces boleh?" for some instalment plan, when I kept trying to tell him it was a CIMB card -.-For a frequent traveller like me, I opt for a globally recognised card like Citi. Holding Citi Platinum also gives me privilege in premium lounge at airport and philharmonic. p/s: I m not working with Citi. I have definitely informed all my bankers before I travelled overseas |
