Thank you for the advice. I somehow inclined towards Sydney because of the available accomodation. I might be able to settle within Sydney. I don't know much about Australia but I heard the living expenses is quite expensive in Sydney? Subjectively asking, will it be cheaper for me to afford education in other province + acco + living expenses compared to Sydney's just education + living expenses only?

Anyone can give me some insight in this matter?

Highly appreciated. Thanks!

sydney is quoted to be one of the most expensive cities in aussie, but if you DO have acco there then id say it IS a cheaper option.

regardless of the place, if you just go about with comfort about 500 a month would suit perfectly. now this includes nights out and all the bull crap that you get about. if you cook religiously it can go down to 300 bucks, ive stayed in melbourne for a month, perth for a year and brissy for half a year now. the price of food are all generally quite similar, the price of accomodation however......

but if you can get it free why not?

anyone knows if oshc covers er orthopedic treatment?

i just made an appointment next month, i know i should bring this up to them but jsut asking for fun

Normally what airline do you guys choose? I am going to Brisbane

I have surveyed AA, SIA and MAS, AA provide uo tp 30kg baggage allowance but SIA & MAS only up to 20KG, the only problem with AA is it land on Coolongatta Airport but not Brisbane International Airport.

Any advise?

I saw someone posted about SIA provide 40kg baggage allowance but have to buy the ticket in SIA office, I try calling them so many times, but always line busy. :S

I would rather speak up or call the insurance you are in, cos they have special price for such specialized medical condition.

QUT does not fetch students from Cooloongatta. You'll have to make your way to Brisbane yourself.

Brunei Air also flies KUL-BWN-BNE. You and your luggage would be checked through. They're reasonable at RM1800 one way, through not much less that MH at that time of the year.

While I cannot stop people flying D7 on their first time to Australia, having felt both D7 and BI, I would say BI is more comfortable than D7. Considering that D7 2702 is a overnight flight, it is a bit of a disaster being in their A330's that don't recline.

Actually, D7 is about RM1200 one you throw in meals and 30KG of luggage. Qamtas will do SIN-BNE for RM1700, and it comes with their excellent VOD system. Eithad (ooh!) will do SIN-BNE for S$560 (RM1300). When you paying A$11,000/semester (RM33,000) in fees for a B.IT, whats a few tenners?

Then go for the available accommodation in Sydney and use the money that are supposed to be the money for accommodation for something else. FEES wise are not that big in a different . You may be able to consider part time as well to help you and put you more into a comfortable place ( Financial Wise )

clarinase is more suitable for hay fever / allergies? Don't think it has decongestant ingredient inside =/ So maybe they had their own reasons not selling it to you. Besides, its not like malaysia where you can go "Oh I want this this this that this that medicine" and WALAH! you get them all. xD

Clarinase does have decongestant... pseudoephredrine. biggrin.gif
The one that doesn't have decongestant is Claratyne.

The best answer you could get is from OSHC themselves as you mentioned, but what happened to my friend was that apparently OSHC doesn't cover pre-existing chronic conditions that require specialist treatments. So if they find out your knee problem existed way before you got OSHC cover, chances are they will not compensate for that, or maybe just cover a little bit or merely public cover.

Insurance policies are sometimes difficult to understand and may even vary from person to person under different circumstances. Again, best to speak to them and fingers crossed that they will at least provide you with some support. Public waiting list is absurdly long while private health will probably nuke your wallet.

I'm planning to study in Australia and most probably within Sydney. I'm completely new in doing research for education in Australia. I glanced through the universities listed in Sydney especially the fees but I'm still rather clueless.

What could be the most affordable University in Sydney for business degree (finance, econs) yet wouldn't compromise its quality? Recommendation? So far, I suppose it's University of Western Sydney, if I'm not wrong? Is it hard to enter? Idea? Thanks
*
Hmm if you are planning to pursue your tertiary education as a full fee international student, I would recommend you entering one of the more reputable universities, assuming you meet the requirements for them. And for your case, USyd, UNSW, Macq U and UTS are the 4 top universities in the state. Obviously the first two are the top unis here in Sydney, so if you are able to get into one of them and fees is not too much of an issue, it'd be a good idea to do so. I don't know what restriction or limitation you have in terms of financial matter, but if you can afford to pay that extra few grand, I would say go for the better ranked/more reputable ones.

Where would your accommodation be in Sydney? If you live too far away from uni, your weekly transportation cost will form a significant portion of your weekly expenses. Generally, Sydney is prolly the most expensive city in Australia, but if you eat in for most of your meals and don't go out much, it is still pretty affordable as difference in grocery prices aren't that significant compared to the other cities. I'm not too sure how much does accommodation cost in other cities, but if you can save on accommodation here in Sydney, I reckon that itself would be quite a big amount.

Hello guys.

A question, has anybody here studied art & design in the following unis:

-RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology)
-ACU (Australian Catholic University)
-QUT (Queensland University of Technology)

I'm planning to further my studies in Australia (I have a diploma in graphic design) probably next year,
and although I'm currently doing a research on different Aus unis, but I think its best to ask people who have studied/currently studying there.

So I need to ask you guys about the study environment; facilities; the people; where did you stay; what tools do you use, like do you a mouse instead of a graphic tablet; etc...
And as for the degree course choice, I think I'll be taking either graphic design, illustration or multimedia... haven't really decided yet.

Any advice is much appreciated, so reply me k? smile.gif

And I apologize if this question has been asked before... rarely paid a visit to this forum, hehe.
Thanks a bunch!

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask regarding OSHC refund matter.

I previously accepted an offer in UNSW and paid the deposit money and the OSHC cover for six years. However, a few weeks later, I decided to switch to Monash and need to pay deposit AND another OSHC cover.

UNSW has already refunded the deposit money and I was told that for the OSHC, I have to request the refund from the provider directly, however, I seem to have trouble doing it as the website doesnt really work.

Can anybody tell me how do I go about it? Or, can I do it when I reach melbourne?
