Guys, talk is always easy. I am one of the victims when I first come to Melbourne. If I received this service then, I would have save myself heaps of money and time and effort.
I had no one here when I first arrived. I did meet a few friendly Melbournians, who guide me on directions to move around city. But I had been through terrible time to familiar myself with this city. Melbourne is a city designed in gird, but the directional signage and public transports are too confusing for me as well as a lot of my friends.
There are a few of my Juniors are coming over to Australia, if people like 'alwayshappy' and 'KVReninem' can kindly invested your time and effort to help them and accommodate them temporary (I can't take day off because most of them arrive on weekday, and my room is too small), that will be very much appreciated. Free of Charge of cause.
If any of you can kindly provide these services for free, can you please leave me a message and that actually prove that we do not need this Melbourne International Student Service.
Also, my advise too all new international students: Due to the economic cirsis spreading to melbourne now, a lot of people actually selling their house and rent. Besides, there are more and more migrant from China and India, it is really hard to find cheap renting without knowing people. Guys, before you comment on settlement in Australia is such a stress free process, you better watch up what you said. You may end up getting new students in trouble.

1st of all, I'm a new student going to Melbourne this coming february, i found tht ur service is juz spoonfeeding new students like me. I did my visa everything myself, and i didnt even go find any education agents like IDP or ASA, I look up everything online, through lowyat forum and google of course.

2nd, its a shame to hear tht u went there alone and was a victim by spending time adapting there urself, n u actually find the route in melbourne confusing. I never went there yet, but looking at the maps i dled from major map websites, I think the route there is way much better than the routes in Penang or KL. To me, wut u actually nid are some surviving skills. Maybe u r raised as a kids tht thinks study is the major skill tht is needed to go through different parts of lifes, no it isnt. I'm no scout or ranger, but i learn those skills by mixing wif different ppl. I hav many frens studying in Melbourne, and thus i try to talk to them, getting many valuable infos from them.

3rdly, if i'm correct its hard to get into homestay for ppl above 18 years old, i got tht info from Housing brochure university of Melbourne sent me. If they r wrong, maybe u can rectify them by telling them their mistakes. But in my case, I prefer to look for everything myself, so tht i get to know more ppl. To me, experience is important.

4th, Its too easy to notice tht u r using 2 accounts to promote ur business here, nice try though.

"Desperate Need To Recover Important Items Left In A Taxi Combine Cab in Sydney.

On the morning of 27 January 2009, my family and I (comprising my parents, another sister and brother and I) arrived into Sydney from Kuala Lumpur. We, the children, were going to start school within the next 2 days. At about 11.00 am we took a Tarago cab (one of those with facility for wheel chair) with Taxis Combine painted on the cab body from the Sydney airport to Distillery Drive in Pyrmont where we live. We cannot remember the taxi number nor did we take note of the driver's name. During the journey, from my father’s conversation with the cab driver, we know him to be of Pakistani origin. He studied engineering in his young days and has lived in Sydney for 21 years. He has been driving a cab for the last 16 years and he lives in Bankstown. He has 5 children and seems quite proud that another is on the way. In appearance, he is heavily bearded, looks about 50 years old or so and is fairly well built.

On arrival and after my father helped the driver to unload our bags from the Tarago cab’s boot, he forgot to retrieve his hand carry bag from the floor of the cab’s passenger seat. In his bag are his and my brother’s Malaysian passports, 5 air tickets, my father’s computer external hard disk, some books, some blank cheques and about A$4000 in Japanese Yen and Singapore dollars

My father tried calling the "Lost Property" service of Taxi Combine and my mum has been calling that service several times too but until now the service has not heard from that cab driver. My father is in desperate need to recover his external hard disk which has all our family’s personal records covering a period of over 20 years. Some of the records are very important to him and to us as school going children. However the information in the external hard disk even if accessed by whoever found his bag is of no use to that person. But to my father and his children the information is important. And my father and brother need to get back their passports too.

My father has asked me to post this on Facebook in the event that the person who found his bag also uses Facebook. My father would be most grateful to this person if he would be so kind as to return him his computer external disk and the passports. And he will also reward the finder for this act of kindness. My father is only interested in recovering the external hard disk and passports and no question will be asked. Alternatively, my father would like to get in touch with the cab driver to help him find his bag.

If you are the finder and are reading this posting for help, please email my father at datoypk1@yahoo.com and list 5 personal folders from his hard disk to him as proof and he will make contact with you by giving you his mobile number.

Even if it does ... It's not easy for one . The campus is big and a lot of students . Not only you will apply for it ... Maybe a few hundreds or thousands will apply for it . The best one will get the offer .

Will they overwork students like me ? xD ... in bluehippo , Usually those big stores only put one ... Like small chinese res , ice cream shop ... They won't bother putting there ... Advertise on newspaper perhaps ?

I don't mind a small pay but just don't overwork me ... Hahaha ... I guess I will go and have a walk-in interview when i see some shops then . Still deciding on what to do though
