Random! Been seeing a few new City's on the road, and damn I must say it's a handsome car. Park it next to a Vios and the Vios looks positively shite.

Those 3M mats have rubber dots down there, so it will not move easily. And 3M mats can trap the dust or sands upon you step your shoes on it, and you can just clean it by vacuum or just use a brush. Simple and easy. They cut to fit your car.

Clocked up about 800 km on my new baby already, and this is what I have to report on my car...
1. Fuel consumption - City driving = 11.2km/L... Highway driving = 15.3km/L. The best I could manage was 17.1km/L at one point. hehe.. 2. Ride is a little too bumpy for my liking, but car feels quite stable when taking sharp corners at speed. 3. The rubber lining outside the car at the top my front windscreen is coming off, i just noticed it a while ago. Managed to fiddle with it a little and tuck it back in. Will complain to my SA. 4. Engine seems is quite noisy, not sure if its because the engine hasn't "break in", or poor sound dampening. Engine is quite silent if u tap gently on your accelerator/at lower speeds, but when you try to overtake or when you climb steep hills, the engine sound becomes very obvious. 5. No complaints on the cooling of the air-conditioning - yes it still can't beat my old Wira in terms of cooling effect, but its good enough for me. And yes, as chris_x mentioned, yes, its a little loud at 3rd / 4th speed. 6. I'm not sure if my alarm is working. Will have to check with technician / SA. I've tried doing what tai kor andyjyneo suggested - i.e; sit in the car, activate alarm and start moving - I can't seem to hear anything... Or is it the alarm is too soft to be heard?!? 7. In D mode, gear response is pretty satisfactory. 8. In S mode, there seems to be a slight time lag when using the paddle shifters. It takes maybe 1-2 secs before u feel the gears change. 9. Agreed with tillerman - the rear and front driving view is hard to judge despite a week driving my car. 10. I went to quickly check my bumper after reading bro chris_x's comment on his slipped bumper - it's still pretty much in tact, thank god.! |

I got the sample tinting with me as they provided. mind sharing the spec of the 3M tint, esp the infra red rejection? at the same time, TS might want to add in some more reference http://asia.vtec.net/Engines/LSERIESG2/index.html (might give a rough idea how much new city's km/l) and some review http://asia.vtec.net/Reviews/3GCityFirst/index.html tillerman, thanks for the feedback! tint it could be the vkool installation was not really proper, causing the heat not rejected well or the tint is yet to be fully functional ? FC wise we should be looking at 18km/L, at least... (referring to TOV's technical review of L15A) |

Lol.. eventhough I'm a City owner, but I don't think the Vios it 'that' bad.The only thing that turned me off about the Vios was it fugly behind (the lights were atrocious) and the somewhat dated interior. Besides that, I have no qualms about it. Ok, maybe the 4AT too.. This post has been edited by sysh: Jan 27 2009, 11:08 PM |

Say, anyone planning on chaning their air filter element(but not the whole air box) soon? I'm researching to check whether the size is different from the previous city and current jazz.

QUOTE(yaliqiu @ Jan 27 2009, 02:41 PM) Seremban QUOTE(sysh @ Jan 27 2009, 05:02 PM) What kind of tinting did your SA offer to you? i dun know. they said some tinting like stick a screen protector on your screen right? but this type is look like the windscreen is "sprayed" with black/blue colour.. It won't be the spray type..that's not even tinting..hehe! I think the most important thing is not how much tinting discount he can offer you, but what is the amount that you have to pay at the end of the day? Cos you know, they can jack up the price astronomically..but in actual fact..the 'real' price is lower.. eg. V-Kool : RM2,000 - RM1,000 (Discount) : RM1,000 (Good deal) V-Kool : RM2,800 (Jacked-up price) - RM1,000 (Discount) : RM1,800 (Rip off) I think RM2,400 for leather seats is okay. But I won't put that.. IMHO, the black water repellent seats are good, wasted if you don't use it Added on January 27, 2009, 5:03 pm Wow.. 3 City, and I thought when my family bought 2..that was alot..hehe! Yea, should get more things from your SA.. for tinting, he said cost RM1K. the best discount .. for leather seats, i'm not going to get it. quite a waste of money. probably will change to leather after 3-4 years ... what should i request for some more? pls advise. going there on thursday QUOTE(anson81 @ Jan 27 2009, 08:04 PM) spray type??? can provide more info on this?? hey guys, i need to do a urgent decision within this few days on tinting my new babe, please give some summary on your info. thanks what i got here now is 2 offer, 1, ECOTINT (been told is korea paper by other accessories shop but SA told me is US paper)- Hybrid 6 with raybarrier in front and rear. means 6 mil thickness security film (i am not sure but he got show me the sample, he said sure will give that one and not like show this and give that) Warranty 8 years, Visible light reflected - 10%, ultraviolet rejection - 99.5%, infrared rejection - 90%, Total solar heat rejection is 56% [RM1.5k after all discount] 2. Powercool (not sure what paper but been told is US paper), 4mil thickness ( The accessories boss very keen to say ECOTINT 6 mil maybe not 6mil, because the shop owner said 6mil cannot fit the window, even 4mil already very hard to fit.) how many % rejection i got no idea as they do not provide sample, but the shop owner is one of my friend. [RM1k] if you got other suggestion, please help me...... thanks |

QUOTE(silverwave @ Jan 27 2009, 10:35 PM) Good review there tillerman. About the tint, my dad has the same tint and there was no dust or bubble from the first day. Anyway, give it 2 weeks to fully dry and if u see dust or trapped bubbles, go back to them. hmm, actually after changing all screen window still manage to get to spot out few minor dust. The most obvious is at front ant rear. I still feel that not satisfy. When you said look for them back, which v-kool service center you are refering to that your father car dun find such problem for v-kool tinting? I fixed mine at Jalan Meru Klang, Klang, Selangor. wonder how can I totally not get any problem like dust, bubble or soap spot that they did not fix this problem even after redo? QUOTE(tillerman @ Jan 27 2009, 10:17 PM) I experienced below: 1. Honda cars are tuned more towards sportier ride while Toyota is tuned towards comfort. That's why Honda cars usually have good handling but sacrifice on comfort while Toyota cars are good on comfort but not so great on handling.-NHC is a bumpy car, perhaps is an disadvantage but this car is good and stable when your make sharp corner compare to Vios which is not bumpy and doesn't seems as stable as NHC. Need to check with SA and technician about this, as bumpy make too much uncomfort feel!!! -Fuel consupmtion: So far the most is 14.9km/l average! Is this good? How far can you car go with full tank? So far 400KM and highest speed is 110km/l as I use to go in NKVE for a full tank pump max range. Should we wait till 5000KM or second service which it may have better FC? Will make some complains for my first service as even they said is it just checking and not changing anything. Vios E specs is 110KG ligther than NHC E spec -Viewing when driving: Rear and front is hard to judge, as I can't see anything, may be installing a front sensor which altis or good car have will help. 2. Your fuel consumption is good. You should be able to achieve 480km on a full tank easily. If it's on highway, I think hitting 600km also no problem. 3. The front parking sensor for the Altis isn't good but isn't as sensitive as I like it to be. If you want to get front sensors, I suggest u get 4 cell version as those will be more sensitive. |

How much is your one fuel tank pump? - Anyone have the best way to have highest FC? I was wondering that is NHC possible to beat to beat IDSI which make record of 26.9KM/L? If it isn't, it should at least make it to near 21km/l to 24km/l - Sharp corner is stable! - The rubber lining is peeling off too. I forgot to state this just now. Will complain to my SA too - Honda website and advertisement promises better aircond feature such as quietness and faster cooling compare to previous gen, but doesn't sound promising. No matter how will complain to my SA. - For the alarm you have to wait for a momeny till it be initiated 10 to 15 seconds, then you will find it working. No matter how soft it was when u stand outside of the car or sitting inside this car you will still hear it. - Wonder if anyone facing problem when driving up to hill when. When you stop your car up toward a hill, which your car is narrow up, in D mode gear, anyone car start dropping back? Heard from one of my friend having this problem. So far I just tested in normal hill not those Genting type. Heard that this is because NHC is too heavy 1140 for S spec and 1160kg for E spec. - S mode eat up a lot of fuel. Lagging for 1 seconds will take, may be this is because of DBW tech??? - Yes rear and front is really crazy man!! Possible if can get front sensor will be good : ) but still we have to wait till warranty is over. Added on January 28, 2009, 12:17 am QUOTE(zweimmk @ Jan 28 2009, 12:07 AM) 2. I believe that it involve a lot of wiring. Do you or anyone have any idea on pricing and information about this? Think after we pool all the niggles and minor problems that we have experienced with the City, we should write / type in to Honda Malaysia so that they can rectify this problem for the next batches..and in the mean time, repair the 1st batch. Anyhow these things are quite normal. The price you pay for being in the exclusive '1st batch'

QUOTE(chris_x @ Jan 27 2009, 05:41 PM) Back from outstation trip for CNY, drive my PMM City all the way. It's already 1k and ready for its first service. 1. The most i get was 12.2km/l only. As long as I stay on highways (with no jam) longer the FC is lesser. =(A few things I found after driving the car: 1. I only get around 11km/L in avg, maybe the engine is still new. 2. My trip was bumpy ride, and I feel the car is bumpy when I drive over 90km/hr. Get choked if you drink in the car. Perhaps due to the 16" rims and tyre. 3. Rear bumper 'slipped' down. I can see it's not intacted tightly now. I found this after reaching destination. Will need to ask my SA when I send it back for service. 4. Alarm will not sound if rear boot is opened. 5. The alarm sound is so wheeny, a baby's cry is even louder. 6. The air con is not fast cooling, my old wira is better. 3rd speed is so loud. Try to turn to fan speed 3, then turn on both leg and front cooling, it sounds like you got a hole somewhere in the pipe. Wira air con is much better in control. 7. During overtaking, good response in change of gear, but engine sound quite noisy...paddle shift is good in control. If you have the same experience, please share as well. 2. Unlike Toyota, Honda is made for better handling and therefore reduces comfort. 3. No problem with the bumpers but the double sided tape of my rear car plate is peeling off. Wondering if during service they can stick it again for me. 4. That's normal for the NHC. 5. Agree. Alarm is too soft. 6. No problem with a/c. Cools pretty fast but when turn to both leg and front cooling it is loud. 7. When "tekan" engine revs up to around 4k rpm and is loud (noisy). Got no paddle shift (Grade S) 8. Handbrake seems stiff but doesn't lock the tires hard enough. Need to do some adjustments during 1k service. 9. Quality of production in terms of workmanship is pretty poor. Nothing much can do about it I guess. Wanna ask you guys. If I am to do tinting and waxing, technically which 1 should I go for first? |

This thread is really useful as I'm considering the new City too. So far based on the info in this thread, below are common problems raised.1) Engine loud when press hard 2) Floating feeling 3) Aircond noise high or not cold fast enough 4) Alarm too soft / no panic alarm button Just curious. Before the new City, what car are you guys driving? For 42 litres petrol tank, I think 450-500 kms is not bad at all. I believe after the engine has run-in, hitting 600kms is possible? |

Before the new City, what car are you guys driving? For 42 litres petrol tank, I think 450-500 kms is not bad at all. I believe after the engine has run-in, hitting 600kms is possible? - Unstable RPM when going up hill - Recommendation of V-Kool as their authorized tinting is not a good idea, as I have face bad service and bad manner in talking to me and customers. Found dust and end result of tinting were not fine (even after redo the whole car), as there were bubble and soap stain in tinting film (Somemore it was at front screen, image this!) - Bumpy feeling. - Dangerous Wiper washing nozzle which shoot out soap to your front screen as it was sharp - plastic\ rubber at top is peeling off by itself. |
