civic and city cant be compared ler. but somehow, u can try to compare the current E variant city with toyota altis 1.6. if u have children, u might need bigger space, so u go for altis 1.6 but of course the drawback is lesser power, no 5 speed, no paddle shift etc, if u are younger age u probably will take city i guess hehe...

Eh, don't quote me lah. I didn't compare them what.

Hi guys. was wondering.. is the Civic worth getting compared with the new City in terms of overall performance, feel and looks?

The extra $$ worth the upgrade?

Gong Xi Fat Chai!

Do also bear in mind that there'll be a new facelifted Civic in a couple of months. Was informed of this by my SA... They also expect the price to go up in the range of RM3-5k, based on previous experience.

Ya.. 3M Crystalline 70 for all windows... The 3M mat I will take photo and show tomolo.. Kinda tired now
*
Thanks, no problem. Whenever you are free, just post them up.
Btw.. are the Crystalline 60 legal by the standards of JPJ? I thought the rule of thumb is VLT 70, but is the 60 alright?
At this point in time, still shopping around for the best deals. Thinking for the time being, PPS or the 3M Scotchgard for the front bumper and lights to avoid stone chips and scratches.

Noted. Based on what I've seen like on FB, ppl complain of floating at 140km/h .. so does adding the modulo spoilers and increasing tyre size help?

Coz it looks like there's quite a few complaints here and there, so dunno if they are really justified. Furthermore, by looking at this forum, I believe a potential city owner would need to pick the E spec (paddle shifting for smoother acceleration0, have wider tyres (205 for stability) and tinting (otherwise too hot on hands) as a must addon in order of mitigate some of initial complaints. So with all this top up... a bit more dough can get a Civic with possibly less problems?

Currently driving a 2002 Proton Wira 1.5L AT.
*
IMHO, the spoilers and bodykit will only give you marginally help.. it's more psychological more than anything.
Rim size, unless you're going to get 17" lightweight japanese rims.. I suggest the standard 16" is more than sufficient.
The car was designed to use 16" rims at this optimum performance, anything bigger or small might cause some strain to the EPS.
Your speedometer might not be reading accurately also.

In terms of the "top up", it's actually quite alot.
City E-Spec >> RM89,980
Civic 1.8S >> RM113,800

Difference >> RM23,820 <----- That's not a little "top up"

Even if you spend like RM10,000 on accessories on your City E-Spec, that's still RM13,820 top up.
Unless you have that much money to spend.. you might need to re-think which car you want to buy.
Both cars will seat 5 passengers comfortably. But in terms of performance, of course the Civic is better.. but is it worth it? that's up to you to decide.

Not the bodykit (ie. front skirting) at the bumper right..so u are referring to the Modulo grille?
Well..tat has not been launched in Malaysia, unfortunately.
Thought wait a while..a couple of months, and those accessories shop will start selling those Modulo bodykits and the grille too

Yup. If bought 3together from a same SA, he/she should give more discounts or benefits. Try to get tinting discounts and full tank of petrol for 3cars. He still earn alot of selling 3cars together and maybe hit his/her monthly target.

Yeah baby, squeeze!! squeeze!! biggrin.gif

I believe one forummer was offered a huge discount to the tune of 8.5k for the new Altis 1.6E. If you ask me, that's a fantastic deal and I would definitely take the Altis over the City anytime. Otherwise, both car are at different price leagues.

All the drawbacks you mentioned for the Altis aren't much of an issue:

1. Less power - but both City and Altis 1.6E only hit peak at 6k RPM , at that speed, you're travelling around 180km/hr or so. So it's true, the City has a higher top speed, but at that speed both cars wouldn't be stable to drive either way. Torque is rated to be the same for both cars but the advantage still goes to the City because it's a lighter car.

2. No paddle shift - I have sequential shift in the 1.8G version and I don't even use it. Nice to have but otherwise, doesn't really add much overall value. Still, it's nice to find it on an entry level car like the City, so Honda should be commended.

3. No 5 speed AT - Doesn't matter, the car has really good FC - after driving 530km on both City and Highway setting, there's at least 8 to 10L left of petrol in the tank. Getting 600km doesn't pose a problem either.

What kind of tinting did your SA offer to you?
It won't be the spray type..that's not even tinting..hehe!
I think the most important thing is not how much tinting discount he can offer you, but what is the amount that you have to pay at the end of the day? Cos you know, they can jack up the price astronomically..but in actual fact..the 'real' price is lower..
eg.
V-Kool : RM2,000 - RM1,000 (Discount) : RM1,000 (Good deal)
V-Kool : RM2,800 (Jacked-up price) - RM1,000 (Discount) : RM1,800 (Rip off)

I think RM2,400 for leather seats is okay.
But I won't put that.. IMHO, the black water repellent seats are good, wasted if you don't use it
