Hi,
I'm a newcomer to this forum and yes a NHC user. Just got the baby E-SPEC PMM colored last week, now already clocked more than 1400km, with driving 70% highway, 30% city/rural. My findings: 1. Suspension is quite hard/stiff & at rear can feel quite bumpy. 2. The highest FC I got as in the VID is 18.5km/l, the lowest is around 11km/l, with max speed 120-130km/hr. 3. The range info which tell u how far more the can go before the tank emptied is quite misleading. I had my fuel indicator light appeared at the range around 80km. In the manual, it stated that when the fuel indicator appear, you shall have around 6-7 litres left in the tank. When the range goes down to 30km, my 5km trip to the petrol station saw the range figure drop from 30km to 10km. And when refuel, it takes me around 33 liters to full it up. Very confusing. Sure gonna ask at 1st service (yes, belum service lagi....) 4. FC i think quite good. After a distance of 497km, it takes me RM58 @ 32.3ltr to refill back the tank. Mind you if the tank truly of 42ltr max, then I still have at least 9 liters left before refuel. So I think 600km for a full tank is not impossible. 5. 95% I stay in D mode. Once in a while in highway I downshift (but still in D mode) to overtake. When you you downshift, there is delay around 1 sec before you feel the changes. Haven't done my 1st service due to CNY leave. But has confirmed with my SA that it's OK as they are not gonna do any part replacement (oil/filter etc) at 1st service. Just inspection only. As for now, I'm quite happy this new car.... |

QUOTE(D'stalker @ Jan 28 2009, 09:21 PM) Hi, Yeah, with regards to point no 3., I experienced the same just this evening. When I drove my car to work this morning and parked my car the range was approx 53km... But when I left for lunch this afternoon, the range reading was only about 27km when i started the engine... The 3M is compatible with Smart Tag and GPS as I used my dad's Smart Tag and Garmin Nuvi for testing.
About the FC, I've got 15 average/L... But my brother ruined it into 12.1 by revving it to 3K RPM... Overall, none of you should worry about the gear box, as after 2nd gear there is an O/D... Take notice after 2nd gear the RPM drops even if you step harder. And bear in mind, to run in your engine you must not rev over 3K and advisable not over 100km/h... And not to let go lightly and the engine will become "lazy" and "powerless" in future. After the engine run in, the FC and power will be good. My friend in Singapore had 4.5K mileage and his City getting 650-690km on 34 liter average. |

QUOTE(D'stalker @ Jan 28 2009, 09:21 PM) Hi, Good info/review here. I agree with the FC which is possible to reach 600kms. 400-450kms for full tank is almost similar to my Wira 1.5A which is quite unlikely considering the much newer engine used & the 5AT gearbox. To "soften" the engine noise, is installing sound dampening material at the car's firewall or the engine compartment sufficient? I think so far my major concerns are on the aircond coolness & loud engine noise only. I believe other QC issues can be fixed by service centres except probably the floating feeling. I sat in the previous CVT City before, it feels much more bumpy than current City which I test drive ..I'm a newcomer to this forum and yes a NHC user. Happy Chinese New Year guys~
well, spend nearly half an hour to read back all the posts, reading there are so many problems happened on the NHC! gosh~~ engine noise, air cond, rubber lining and quality, unstable rpm, lagging of gear, bumpy ride due to hard suspension etc etc.... how come will these be? Our HM does not care for the production QC? My friend just got his new 60k Waja a month ago and he has no complaints and quality problems...yet~ =.='' My NHC is coming on March. Maybe consider as 2nd or 3rd batch already but i guess sure these problems still there. Is there anyway we can pass the problems that the NHC facing now to our HM? |

IMHO, I think alot of people are experiencing this sort of problem 'cos they 'expect' the car to be perfect. I noticed the NVH for both the Honda City and Jazz using the L15A engine to be a little harsh. In terms of gear change, since we are so used to the CVT box.. now that you can 'feel' the change, alot of ppl say that's no good. I do agree that there are still a little niggle and bumps (ie. peeling rubber strips, door padding got gap etc).. but I guess no car's perfect. The 8G Civic has sh|t loads of problems initially, but still heaps load of ppl have bought it. The same will go with this City. At the end of the day, there will still be grievances...but I think we'll be able to live with it.

Can. You can service your car anywhere, even in Langkawi, Sabah & Sarawak too! Just remember to bring your service book along. They said want to call their SA is because they know their SA and easier to communicate as well as their SA will keep a look for them. so, everything is not rosy indeed for the new honda city, is it?
me also getting nervous on these little shortcomings. the QC is done over batches, ite? meaning, done 1 batch then do QC for one off the entire batch is it? hopefully mine is all perfect. finger crossed. |
