- A short review by forumer "Steven2916":
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Okay, I have come back from viewing the new Honda City. I spent more than one hour looking and touching the car inside and outside. Before I go any further, I have good news to tell you all. Petrol price will go down by 10 sen per litre effective from 12.01 a.m. 16 December, less than 5 hours away. This means RON 97 petrol will only cost RM1.80 per litre, the lowest in 3 years. The new City is a real stunner. So sleek, sporty and stylish. Two cars were displayed, one Deep Lapis Blue Metallic S spec and one Crystal Black Pearl Black Metallic E spec. I checked out both cars. PART 1: First, I want to touch on the features which both specs have. The features are: 1. 5 speed Automatic with Shift Hold Control 2. Electric Power Assist Steering 3. Tilt and Telescopic steering 4. Front ventilated disc brakes 5. Rear solid disc brakes 6. Very big boot of 506 litres (bigger than Nissan Sylphy's boot). Sylphy's boot is 503 litres 7. Halogen headlights 8. Chrome door handles (Looks classy) 9. 4 reverse sensors (2 for the side and 2 for the rear) just like Mercedes. Yes! 4 reverse sensors! Can you believe it? A first for Honda City! 10. Vehicle Information Display which shows how many km can go before petrol tank is empty, odometer, km per litre (All in LCD) 11. Hood insulator under the bonnet and boot lid 12. Advanced Audio with CD player, USB and Auxilliary jack which can be used to connect iPOD, thumbdrive, MP3 player and all types of gizmos - seems this is the first of its kind in the world! 13. Accessory socket 14. Height adjustable driver's seat 15. Water repellent seats 16. Front seat back pockets 17. Vanity mirrors with lids 18. Rear view mirror with Day/Night change 19. 4 front cupholders 20. Power side mirrors 21. Map light and boot light 22. Foot rest 23. Front armrest 24. Dual front airbags 25. ABS, EBD and BA (Brake Assist) 26. G-CON (G-Force Control Technology)and ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body 27. Pinch free window for driver's side 28. Driver's seat knee bolster 29. Front seats pretensioner seatbelt with double load limiter 30. 3 point rear seatbelt 31. Front bumper beam and door beam 32. High mount stop light 33. Security alarm and immobilizer 34. Ultrasonic sensor 35. Wave Blade Keys
PART 2 Features which is only available for E spec: 1. Fog light 2. Door mirrors with turn lights 3. Exhaust pipe finisher 4. 16" alloy wheels (15" for S spec) 5. Paddle shift 6. Steering wheel audio control buttons 7. Lhather steering wheel 8. Leather gear knob 9. 6 speakers (one speaker for each door and 2 tweeters at the A pillar, no speakers at the rear) S spec - 4 speakers (one speaker for each door, no speakers at the rear) 10. Adjustable rear headrest (S spec rear headrest cannot be adjusted) 11. Electric foldable door mirrors (S spec - door mirrors can only be folded manually by hand) 12. Rear armrest with cupholder (none for S spec) 13. Rear 60:40 foldable seats (S spec fixed seats) 14. Rear reclining seats 15. Rear sear undertray (none for S spec)
PART 3 1. Interior seats and dashboard is black for both specs. This is better because won't get dirty so fast. 2. There is a special device under the bonnet which sucks in air from outside and cools the engine faster so engine is not so hot. 3. Engine is located in the centre of engine bay, far away from the condenser and compressor. 4. Air con vents can be found under back of front seats to make rear seat passengers cooler. Air-con cools car cabin fast so it is cooler inside. 5. Petrol tank lid is opened by just pressing it, turn the round cover and hook it beside the lid, after finish pumping petrol, screw back the round cover which is hooked and press the lid. When the car is locked, petrol tank lid cannot be opened even if you press it. This is something new and is a Honda innovation.. There is no lever beside the driver's seat to open the petrol tank lid. Very convenient to use.
PART 4 1. Yes, seat and upholstery material for both specs are black but E spec has nicer material. 2. Dashboard for both specs are black. 3. E spec has rear seat under tray to put shoes and umbrella, 4. I am very sure there are no speakers behind the rear seat for S and E spec and the tweeters for E spec are located at the A pillar (one at each A pillar). 4 speakers foor both specs with one each at each door panel. 5. I din't take anyu photos because all of you can view the car to your heart's content starting from today. 6. Nice colourful new Honda City booklet wil only be given out together with official price list starting from the official launching date this Thursday (18 December). SA has shown me the booklet but said he cannot give to me until 18 December. 7. I will test drive the new City this coming Saturday (20 December) and post a review of ther test drive on Sunday morning for the reading pleasure of all you Honda City fans in this forum. 8. You can download songs from the Internet into thumbdrive and link it to the supplied USB cable and play the songs on the advanced audio player which can play anything - radio, CD, iPOD, MP3, WMA whatever!

To those who have already collected their baby..I've got a question about the car alarm.. I wanted to know how my car alarm sounds like.. at least if it's sound, I would know... I tried:
1. Lock and arm the alarm. Opened boot with key --> Allowed, alarm disabled because opened with valid key. Nothing went off
2. Leave one door open and lock --> Not allowed as all doors need to be closed before the alarm can be armed and all doors locked
3. Leave the boot open and lock --> Alarm armed for all the doors (with 2 signal blinks, normally 3), leaving the boot open, alarm didn't go off
So.. how can I make the alarm go off (without force entry of course.. just for testing purposes)? hahaha

You're right. 2. Yes, not allowed because if doors are not closed tightly, it won't lock. So you've to be extra careful since there's no alarm sound whether you arm or disarm. 3. Same goes bonnet. It'll lock your car, but alarm is not on. For your last question, just sit inside the car and activate the alarm. Then start moving around because there're sensors detecting movement in your car. That way, the alarm will trigger.
