QUOTE(darkknight81 @ Dec 6 2008, 09:06 AM) When we know why probably will be too late already Today Saturday, a bit late into office. haha. Cherroy haven't wake up yet wait for him to creat version 19 QUOTE(darkknight81 @ Dec 6 2008, 09:10 AM) Not really think it is a good move to buy a company shares where its director is throwing it... Some thing is not right .... Whenever company directors or substantial shareholders selling stock into the market, 99% is advisable to stay out.Remember we don know what happened inside .....We must invest in a more transparent company. They knew and had the most inside details and how the company business situation. Nobody wants to sell their stocks if company's prospect is bright and going to have good earning and dividend unless some special circumstances. |

I am so listless already, Our stock market volume is so poor, no volume means lower chances of recovery. Worldwide, fund managers' cash are lacking, I don't think when global recovery takes place , they are going to invest here first, we will be one of the last, just like 2 years' ago's boom, KLSE was always playing catch up . So, this time when worldwide recovers, ours will catch up lagging behind 2 years. I need to prepare myself mentally to hold at least 5 years This post has been edited by sharesa: Dec 6 2008, 09:51 AM |

Shares has been dropping for the past 2 weeks. Hope to see a small rebound as I want to goreng my KNM stocks.... Edit : Would it be correct to say that comparing stocks to unit trust, stocks would be a better buy at the moment for the long-term? This post has been edited by kmarc: Dec 6 2008, 10:08 AM |

QUOTE(kmarc @ Dec 6 2008, 10:04 AM) I guess that's to be expected in this bear market. Some reports are saying the Asian stock markets will probably recover before the West..... late in and early out.... hope so as I don't want to wait to long to see some good news! Besides some counters like YTLPOWER, I think you didn't miss anything. Shares has been dropping for the past 2 weeks. Hope to see a small rebound as I want to goreng my KNM stocks.... Edit : Would it be correct to say that comparing stocks to unit trust, stocks would be a better buy at the moment for the long-term? Heard from my friend who has investment in Unit Trust that he has lost between 30% to 60% from different funds this year. This has more or less wipe out all the gains that has been building up over the years for him. I guess UT is for you if don't have time to monitor or want exposure to markets otherwise not avaliable (like those china funds) |

Last yr economic really boom b4 oct 07 when US mortgage n subprime crisis really struck their economic. KLSE rose to 1300+ PB mutual earn me 5K+. but right now if i sale I L b losing 7k+. If hoping UT need to wait for few yrs. anyway UT safe unlike stock company will goes privatize some already bust .....What I'm asking is, at this time, would it be correct to say that given a choice, shares would be a better pick rather than unit trust for maximum profitability in the long run? |

I need to prepare myself mentally to hold at least 5 years Some sort like you drop the least, you surge at last or lesser. Compared index to index, KLCI actually loss a bit lesser compared to other regional bourses. HSI drops from 32K to now 13K (60% loss), STI from 3.7K to 1.6k (56%), KLCI from 1500 to 800 (46%) QUOTE(kmarc @ Dec 6 2008, 10:31 AM) That's also true for stocks where they have dropped quite a lot. If compared to some fundamental good stocks, then stock outperform UT generally. What I'm asking is, at this time, would it be correct to say that given a choice, shares would be a better pick rather than unit trust for maximum profitability in the long run? As one major disadvantage of UT, is its management fee. If the stock you hold not rising, then you breakeven, but in UT, due to the management fee, you will lose 1.5% annually, so if the stock is not moving 10 years, then in stock, you breakeven, in UT, you lose 15% already, no including initial service charges of 5% compared to 1.5% commission of stock trading. UT portfolio is more diversified, so it will normalise both upside and downside. You holding 2 to 3 stocks in your hand, if those stocks surge 50%, then you gain 50%. But in UT, they have bunch of stock in their portfolio, 2 to 3 stocks surge 50%, won't able to result the fund gain 50%, as there might be other perform not so good or bad one, so other will normalise it which result fund only gain 20-30%. But on the downside, if your holding stocks drop 50%, then you loss 50%, but if the UT portfolio is diversifed enough to have some stocks that are still performing quite good, then the fund performance might loss only 20%. But currently, it is not the case in most funds, as recent stock market plunge is worldwide and across. Only a handful of stocks are able to offset in recent downturn, locally and typically like BAT, F&N etc, which one hand finger already enough to count. But the main problem and issue in stock & UT comparison is the stock pick, if you pick the wrong stock to invest then it could be a lot poorer than UT. So can't totally which one is better, stock pick is the key. Just my 2 cents. This post has been edited by cherroy: Dec 6 2008, 11:03 AM |

So can't totally which one is better, stock pick is the key. Just my 2 cents. I would conclude that UT are cushioned more as compared to stocks. I understand the dividends are also less i.e. less risk, less returns and high risk, high returns (and loss!!) Honestly, I do wished that good stocks drop a bit more than that so that I can buy them cheaper!! Including the ones you mentioned i.e. BAT & F&N, others are like public bank, BJTOTO, SIME, etc. I actually acquired SIME at RM5.00 (500 shares only) because it had a significant drop last week!!! My target price was below it's lowest price of RM5.50 but since it dropped so much, might as well stock up on it.... This post has been edited by kmarc: Dec 6 2008, 11:38 AM |

thx mr. cherroy good explaination,
u did mention about the disadvantages of UT is the management fee, so I m currently holding UT with SIP. in SIP although every month buy UT with discounted rate but still pay the management fee... so at this moment during economic recession it would b more more disadvantage is it? |

Here's a good read on our Malaysian's economy : http://www.malaysiafinance.blogspot.com/ (while you're there, can enjoy the pictures too!
Read the part on "Proverbial stuff hitting the fan" written on last Friday. He concluded by saying that our economy MIGHT just show the full impact 3-6 months AFTER the rest of the world markets does..... Hence, the conflicting reports (@ predictions) on how Malaysia's economy will perform.... some say we will not go into recession, some say "late in and early out" and some say poor economy for some time.... for me, I tend to believe the latter.... QUOTE(kb2005 @ Dec 8 2008, 10:02 AM) You can check your trading platform. It should provide all the financial summary for each company as it is available in my RHBInvest platform. If you don't have, maybe you can check in KLSE website. It should have. For since 2006, it doesn't pay dividend to shareholder. One of the reason maybe because it need capital for growth expansion(buy new plane, new route, etc..) or it have huge debts that need to settle first. Usually stable company like PBB, Maybank, TM, Tenaga which generate consistent income will provide dividend. This post has been edited by dreams_achiever: Dec 8 2008, 10:15 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Extreme green day across the region espeically HSI (up 1K points at time being) as well as expected from Europe opening even though US job data last Friday showed loss of 500K+ job over the October.
The market simply price in a lot of negative data already, anything is not that disastrous, is considered a good news. Added on December 8, 2008, 3:12 pmNext year is 'bull' year in Chinese calendar, so hopefully the bull will come out from the market. This post has been edited by cherroy: Dec 8 2008, 03:12 PM |

not necessary to be a big rally. U know recently KLCI seems to be detached from DJIA.
But certain counter will soar. |

Maybe detached from DJIA but Asian stocks also rallied..... unless KLSE is so detached from everybody else, I predict that it will rally tomorrow....
Of course, that's my noob prediction.... |

strong support by local boys showed in the klci charts. doesn't seem to move a bit.
the interest rate reduction by 25 basis point was a good move by BNM (not 2 much and better than not moving at all), expect another rate cut and this time if the support is not enuf, it will free fall. but considering so many aunties and uncle took the money below their bed and "invest" in ASW and ASN. we might just see the free fall by the 3rd rate cut. cross all your fingers.... |

People are using this rebound to offload their stocks or cut losses. If i were u, i would not jump into the market thinking there's a rally. There's no clear indication yet in US economy although Congress will approve the $15 billion rescue for automakers this week.
As long as 4th quarterly reports are not out(somwhere march09 or april 09), the market is still very weak. Any bad news can hurt the market badly. We need to study the impact of the 4th quarters, especially finance and automobile industry. This post has been edited by Ranny: Dec 9 2008, 12:47 PM |

I'm not sure about what is the business nature of PA. Last friday i found it at the most active share n saw that many ppl bought in early morning n very little sell transaction done. And the share price stable at 0.350 even though people keep buying at 0.350 as on n off ppl Q to sell at 0.350. So i start off by putting a Buy Q at 0.355 wiht 2000lots, n only managed to get 1500 (x 100units) lots, thereafter, the price never came down but continue to surge.

QUOTE(Ranny @ Dec 9 2008, 12:46 PM) People are using this rebound to offload their stocks or cut losses. If i were u, i would not jump into the market thinking there's a rally. There's no clear indication yet in US economy although Congress will approve the $15 billion rescue for automakers this week. Even 15 billions auto rescue plan is approved, it doesn't mean economy become no problem already and stock market will rally to a very high level. It doesn't solve the credit crunch overnight. As long as 4th quarterly reports are not out(somwhere march09 or april 09), the market is still very weak. Any bad news can hurt the market badly. We need to study the impact of the 4th quarters, especially finance and automobile industry. But market has priced-in a lot of negative news, so downside is also not that much, but upside also cap by certain limit because of economy recession and poor corporate earning. You need some sign of economy recovery (light in the tunnel) to have a real market rally. |

QUOTE(dsugums @ Dec 9 2008, 03:35 PM) KNM buying back massive shares. EPF has also still buying and got their leg stuck. The director also buying. contra players dont have that much shares/power in hand, it's most likely the FFs who are throwing the huge amounts (in excess of more than 30,000 lots each time). But the price still keep dropping Too many contra players screwing up the price This post has been edited by PBB boleh: Dec 9 2008, 03:43 PM |

Wa.. today KLSE perform so bad... down..
I'm at SG for holiday.. have free wifi service. This morning sold all my Zelan at 0.79 made few hundred bucks only. Zelan seems still have selling pressure. After sold, que buy back at 0.775 Saw resort selling pressure this morning, que 2.19 but later i cancel coz feel it will drop more. Now at Sim Lim food court.. use free wifi. Chk.. omg... Resorts still under strong selling pressure. Jupiter research target for Resort is at 2.12. KNM morning up very strong den start to plunged back... Jupiter have buy call for PA but last time 3 yrs back my remiser told me PA alot fund managers like goreng it...now i dun follow this counter. Abit itchy to buy this morning when its price about 0.41 but i go for zelan coz of EPF support. All my Zelan buy que match. Hope EPF wont failed me. v_viper88 QUOTE(kmarc @ Dec 9 2008, 05:04 PM) Incredible! Other markets ended higher (yesterday) but not for KLSE..... 835.17 (-3.11, -0.37%).... E&O also near it all time low. May have technical rebound as well.
But volume is not high enough. If the volume shoot up suddenly, probably it means a rebound is coming for this stock. This post has been edited by alivecmh: Dec 9 2008, 10:41 PM |

resorts, i heard a rumour saying Genting gonna take it private MMC, negative factor impacting the counter all no no, for now, wait globally stable first. As for US, if no fresh catalyst, i think DJIA will lose the streak. Now investors are eyeing OPEC production cut. As for US, i think sales data. Visit my blog: http://todayfinancialworld.blogspot.com i filter news that will impact the market, with my comment. hopefully you guys can be my reader and we can have a healthy discussion |

You have constant flow of bad news, so what, big deal. What an investor must look for is a data that confirms that the US economy will not slip into a long painful recession that lasts for more than 2 years.
The market has already efficiently priced in more job cuts, more bad earnings, more pain @ retail. This is a directionless market; with new government intervention every minute. One must know how to trade in this environment; not just simply guessing and purchasing penny stocks and hopes that it goes up. Hope is for gamblers, smart traders don't hope. |

The sales data is not the main concern, the main concern here is the T bills sold at the rate of 0.00%. That's FEAR right there for you.

Anyone into forex? I see that it is more worthwhile trading than in KLCI.
I already downloaded the FXCM demo account with real time quote. Still learning to read the trend and make use of the stop loss and limit orders, hehehe. The platform is really good and you and actually see the volatility of the movement and make our move to long or short. Better than our stupid KLCI which does not give us any option to short (we are only expected to donate in a downtrend market). |

Holy... When did RESORTS hit 2.20? I had my screen on all the time and looked at it from time to time. I only saw 2.15, 2.16, 2.17 and 2.18. I thought it didn't reach 2.20. Just now after reading all the news and forums.... I clicked on my Order Status and found they have all been matched and sold at 2.20
Nice. This is my 3rd trade. Buy 2.18. Sell 2.20. In total I think earn about RM30. Yes, is peanuts but I'm just glad to have offloaded this counter. Hope you all can offload too. |

Some may argue from 0.40 to 0.50 is easy but for a stock to climb from 44.00 to 50.00 is equivalent easy as well. In fact, for 44.00 to climb to 50.00 it can be easier than 0.40 to 0.50 because high price stocks, there are not many retailers around which potential being seller to resist for the upside. But for 0.40 to surge, you need massive volume of buyers because there are plenty of sellers waiting on upside. How often to see selller Q in those penny stock with 10K,20k,30 lots but for a stock of 44.00, you most probably see a few ten lots up to 50 to 100 lots only on the seller side. It is basically not much difference actually, just people mindset tend to think it is "cheap". Just like people say Resort is cheap now with 2.10, but if without split, it is 10.50, then people won't say it is cheap anymore but actual fact both are same. |

I thought you are the expert in plantation stocks. current price at 2.20, which is around the IPO price. is it worth buying? Whenever we discuss the stocks in terms of PE, EPS or anything like that, someone would hit back. To me, sometimes I could hear people in the coffee shops in Malaysia , telling Mr. Obama want to to. Saying but not doing is a much easy job to do. Just my 2sen. This post has been edited by SKY 1809: Dec 10 2008, 03:40 PM |

My personal opinion, plantation stocks normally go up and down together due to the movement of CPO, so for me I would go for those old and established name that has showed good company management and showing good track of record one while big cap enough that fund managers need to put down the name into their list. Don't mean this stock no good, just some personal opinion. |

Competitiveness of a company has nothing to do with listed or no. like this how to compete with DIGI ler, i wondering........ Not to forget that Maxis is a money making machine which generate billions of profit as well every year. As long as the company cashflow is strong, and financial strong, list or no list make no different. In fact, listed means more hassle and troublesome paper work and job and not as flexible as pte for the company management actually. It being privatised at Rm15.30 something like that. If the company owner wish to list back, he can still do it in the future. May be re-listed back at RM20.00 or elsewhere, then he make even more gain out of it. |

Not quite remember exactly, some sort like that. He made money out of this deal! |

QUOTE(aoisky @ Dec 10 2008, 04:49 PM) Yes, because when the company become bigger, it makes sense to get cheap capital from the market investors through listing, also risk of company can be spreaded out. But listing is not about making company to be known, making business doesn't need to be well known to the public. |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Dec 10 2008, 02:04 PM) Same one lah, hi mr cherroy refer back to this thread u posted, after all I don't fully agree (bold sentence). You buy 1 lots (x100) BAT share at 44.00 = RM4k, commission Rm28 You buy 100 lots ABC penny stock of 0.40 = RM4k, commission Rm28. Just like people say Resort is cheap now with 2.10, but if without split, it is 10.50, then people won't say it is cheap anymore but actual fact both are same. to buy more than 1 lot it better than own 1 lot. basically its strategy rather than 'Cheap'. 1lot of BAT @ 44.00 shld be 4400 sharp while to buy 100 lots of penny stock not necessarily @ 0.40 as share price is fluctuate in a single day. if u buy separately session in a single day u may by chance get 100 lots of abc stock @ avg price less than 0.40 (let say 0.38). e.g 1 lot BAT @ 44.00 = 4400 + 28 + 5 + 1.32 = 4434.32 115 lots ABC @ 0.38 = 4370 + 28 + 5 + 1.31 = 4404.31 44.oo's 10% is 4.400 ; 48.400 x 1lot = 4840 - 28 - 5 - 1.45 - 4034.32 = 771.23 00.38's 10% is 0.038 : 0.418 x 115lots = 4807 - 28 - 5 - 1.44 - 3833.14 = 939.42 for a stock at 44.00 stock to match penny stock's return it must rise +- 15% which is 5.00-6.00 wow for penny stock as u mention nit huge volume of buyer to surge, just few cents its possible (e.g. PA stock) big player + small player oso joining the trade, meanwhile stock valued @ 44.00 I believe not much player there. what if one day 1 day BAT goes pte like MAXIS. then 1 lot = 4840 gone or if one day my abc goes pte let say i just buy 10 lots only = 380. which one higher risk? sry just my humble opinion. this is my strategy of trade This post has been edited by aoisky: Dec 10 2008, 07:14 PM |

Bear in mind now is recession period ok..As long as economy don have any sign of recovery basically the stock market will not keep on rising....A common mistake speculator made is they set themselves a target time to buy and sell.... Instead a proper way of trading or investing is set a target price to buy and sell not the time This post has been edited by darkknight81: Dec 10 2008, 08:59 PM |

QUOTE(aoisky @ Dec 10 2008, 07:09 PM) hi mr cherroy refer back to this thread u posted, after all I don't fully agree (bold sentence). I know where your arguement come from. As response to your statement, If one company going into private, it means the privatising party need to fork out at least more than current market price before it can be done, it is not 4400 gone. Maxis shareholders never lose a single cent out of it. You are comparing with different method. 1 lot 4840 vs 10 lot or 100 lots amounted 380. Let say you have 5000k in hand and meant to be invested, you either buy 1 lot (x100) of 4400 or 100+ lots at 0.38 equivalent. It is the amount of invested money that matter, not price. Yes, more transaction give you chance to do DCA, but insignificant in a 4k trade, as you don't trade lower than 1 K per transaction or per day as min commission will kill you potential gain in the first place. If higher amount like 8K, then even at 44.00 you have at least 2 transaction can be made already. Still amount of invested money dictates, not price. Below although not related, but just for some information. High price stock, why it is high in the first place? because they are good company that provide good return rate to the shareholder, that's why people willing to buy at that high price (excluding those being goreng one), while penny stock why it stays at penny for years and decade? because it can't deliver good return rate to the shareholders, so people not willing to buy at higher price, (excluding those low price because of splitting). |

For previous resort case,
If you mean to invested 10K in resort, you buy 50 lot of 2.10 vs 10 lot of 10.50 (if resort never split it share), they are totally the same stock, same holding % in the company. But I can bet people will say resort is cheap at 2.10 but expensive at 10.50 (if resort never split until now), but they are the same! |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Dec 10 2008, 10:58 PM) For previous resort case, those ppl who buy stock base on the surface price is consider new hand or gamblers. we should looking at the whole company value before entering or buying the stock. for example the maybank now worth RM25 Billion, it possible worth RM30 Billion during the economy recovery, that mean the price may shoot to RM6.10. Just to promote MAYBANK. If you mean to invested 10K in resort, you buy 50 lot of 2.10 vs 10 lot of 10.50 (if resort never split it share), they are totally the same stock, same holding % in the company. i suggest rookie traders, just make imaginary buys and sells to see your own progress. if u have small capital, its hardly worth playing the market, due to the insane commission. with like 1k or less, u gain very very little, but u'll feel the pinch of every loss like crazy. i suggest saving first and practice imaginary trades

The market cannot be sustained by pure hype alone. Fundamentals will come to play soon enough when the hysteria dies down. Those smart traders will LEAVE once the room gets too crowed. Don't get caught holding the bag.
Added on December 11, 2008, 2:53 amFor those who knows how to read DJIA chart, daily activity reflects shooting star with stochastics in the OB region. As i said, the market cannot be sustained by hope and bailouts. This post has been edited by AdamG1981: Dec 11 2008, 02:53 AM |

I disagree.if capital 1k or less of coz no playing la. small capital oso can gain 1, not necessarily need huge capital than baru start thinking of trading. trade little earn little of coz loss oso little trade more earn more of coz loss oso more As someone with small capital, it's all the more CRUCIAL to preserve your army. You don't want your one and only army to be wiped out or get stuck in a war of attrition. The small cash amount will mean the minimum brokerage is much higher RM 14 per buy and sell transaction = 1.4% buy, 1.4% sell. You need the share to rise 3% to break even.... No need to say if ur min brokerage is 28, u'll need a 6% rise to break even if u're purchasing with 1k and below. Even if the share didn't move, u're already having a paper loss of 3%/ 6% to the transaction fees And if u made a bad choice, and it drops, you'll be stuck even worst. Definitely not suggesting ppl to trade with such a small amount. The surest way to lose money, if i may add. You start off with a 1.4% paper loss the moment you bought the shares. And at the time you sell, it's at 2.8% paper loss. it's like 20% 80% odds of you making money from a trade if you buy at 1k below, u'll have better odds playing big small at genting, and staying in resorts This post has been edited by eltaria: Dec 11 2008, 09:50 AM |

QUOTE(aoisky @ Dec 11 2008, 12:30 AM) well correct oso la, but this case u compared same stock at dif price (b4 n after split), wat if, if u compare 2 dif stock at dif price? I can share my experience, I first traded stocks were KLK and PPB, both at around 7.00. but dunno la if comparing 2 dif stock I still think that the way I was thinking about. anyway thanks for ur clear explanation. erm for newbie usually trade extra carefully and trade using smaller amount of $ b4 bcom experience. am i right just flash back ur memory when is ur maiden trade and which stock did u buy .... i think its probably start with penny stock just my two pennies worth.... dare to ask no offense this is how rookie trader learning to progress... thanks for sharing ur knowledge I am not against penny stock, just advise people don't look at low price means they are cheap and having more potential, it doesn't correlated. Stock become too low price has its reason, stock price is not something just figure that moving up and down for fun. |

QUOTE(eltaria @ Dec 11 2008, 09:42 AM) I disagree. erm .. ur explanation is good but u given an 1K and < example here... As someone with small capital, it's all the more CRUCIAL to preserve your army. And at the time you sell, it's at 2.8% paper loss. it's like 20% 80% odds of you making money from a trade if you buy at 1k below, u'll have better odds playing big small at genting, and staying in resorts As my post there i'd clearly mention if 1K or less I wouldn't trade. my small trade is 5k. ppl trade's objective is gain and hoping the share to rise, not the other way round. even for a penny stock movement is 1/2 cents meanwhile for BAT shares movement is 25 cents. though both penny stock n dollar stock valued may differ, but the investment method still the same its the timing n decision making that does matter? "ppl tend to think that small trader tend to loss $, while big player tend to generate tonnes of $" IMO |

aoisky, actually baronic's statement is on 1k trades. So i'd assume ur reply was on his 1k trade.
3-5k, definitely can trade... I have good and bad trades both with penny and bigger stocks. Penny stocks is good too if bought at right prices... i were thinking about going in for scomi at 0.355 just now, didn't and now it's at 0.365+ dee 1 or 2 bids up, can net you some profit for penny stocks. |

speaking of long term investment, is MMC a good buy at such price?
I'm thinking it's a good deal if we look at it from a 3-5 years frame. SATS purchase, if it goes through the AGM while it's expensive, and it's a RPT, and paid in cash some more, there's an upside to it as well as it synergizes well with their logistics business, from port to plane. Not to mention their other ongoing projects as well. what do you all think? |

well, buying shares is not gambling in the sense that
1) There's some skill/educated guesses/knowledge which will improve your odds. Gambling is 100% luck. You can learn to play blackjack, but it's still 100% luck. 2) You control the outcome, the outcome doesn't control you. Whether the outcome is lose a bit, win a bit, lose a lot, win a lot, no win no lose it's all under ur control. But then again, both the buyers and sellers are also educated ppl both have their strategies to make money, once skill/knowledge balances out, you can theorectically say that all that's left are luck Added on December 11, 2008, 2:30 pmseems like shares are crashing down in the afternoon session after a very very mild upward attempt. Main difference between buying shares and gambling:
In buying shares, at the end of the day, you OWN something. Even if it is not worth much, at least you own it. In gambling, you win if you win, if you lose, you have nothing. |

also, for my case, i can say that my worst performing shares in my portfolio happened when i done something stupid.
My major losses are caused by rash decision, jumping the boat and I have no one else to blame for buying such stupid shares.. this is lessons learnt and hopefully it wont happen again. No matter how good you practice your black jack, (the only game that I think skill will effect your outcome) you'll still depend on luck. For other games, it's purely luck. But for those type of gambling, You know exactly the odds of wining/losing/house advantage, nobody can influence.
Stocks on the other hand cannot give you the odds, and can sometime be influence by other factors/people. |

stocks, you make ur own odds,
Better odds if you a) Have staying power, not forced to sell when T+3 b) Buying in when it's low. The lower you wait, the better your odds is, you only go in when you're comfortable with the odds c) Buying fundamentally sound stocks which will give you 4%+ dividends regardless of how Mr Market values it at any particular time. d) you set your own RULES. If your goal is to beat FD, minimum risk of you losing by buying guinness or carlsberg or other div stocks. can say 95% win rate? unless PAS takes over msia. Feel free to add on.. |

QUOTE(simplesmile @ Dec 11 2008, 03:08 PM) Value investing makes sense, but to me completely useless becauseHow the hell do you put an intrinsic value to a particular company? I know the books say there are many methods to do this, but can you really trust any of those methods? 1) NTA All profitable companies trade at more than their NTAs. So to buy stock using this = useless (no 'good' companies trade cheaper than NTA) 2) DCF Bullshit. Who in the world can forecast future income until infinity? I know people will say 'Estimate la'. But can you really trust those estimations? Plantation companies for instance, within 2-3 months their future cashflows 'estimate' can change drastically. You expect to value company using estimation? Go ahead. 3) PE multiple Another lie. Value investment books preach to value companies 'intrinsically' without using external factors. So using anything related to market price e.g. PE ratio is hypocritical. You say value company internally, but use previous 'market price' to 'value' a company. Sheesh. Just my 2 sen. |

Does anyone know if Uchitech selling coffee circuit boards to commercial or household? If selling commercial like Starbucks,... then business next few years will sure drop. But if selling coffee makers for household, sales might increase as people stop buying from starbucks and make their own coffee at home. You know.. that caffeine addiction is hard to get rid of.

This article is interesting.
http://www.theedgedaily.com/cms/content.js...ccba00-f553e83d No one knows where the bottom is Or are we climbing our way slowly out of the bottom ? I think many forumers would disagree. But many are hoping for CNY mini rally , right ? about the same time Mr. Obama takes over from Bush. Judge your own. This post has been edited by SKY 1809: Dec 11 2008, 08:47 PM |

Unemployment claim wider than forecast, and all other economy data from US are bad. Look like DJIA probably going to end in red unless there is good news from the automaker bailout plan.

I'm following the advices from here : http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BTIM...icle/index_html
If it is true, better offload everything after Q1..... Also this one : http://www.cnbc.com/id/28172680 And don't forget the prediction that Dow might just have a mini bull run from mid of this month... would be interesting to see this prediction come true.... QUOTE(kmarc @ Dec 11 2008, 11:30 PM) I'm following the advices from here : http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BTIM...icle/index_html Hello guy, soalan bocor already lah. where got market will expose such the clue for u to earn the $$$ one. If it is true, better offload everything after Q1..... Also this one : http://www.cnbc.com/id/28172680 And don't forget the prediction that Dow might just have a mini bull run from mid of this month... would be interesting to see this prediction come true.... Anyway, the rally is quit certain, but will not follow the time table as expected. Be well prepare. my advise is dun do daily trading, monthly trading is still ok. this will train ur patient and digest more good or bad news b4 enter or exit in/from the market. Realistically, one should expect this market won't go up or down too far. It can be be range bound for months even up to year. Up too much, go down, donw too much, up back again.
Don't expect can make a lot in this market, it is a time frame that more on hold and wait while still can enjoy some dividend payout which is better than FD. |

the market will remain volatile with continuous downtrend. Technically, 5 wave downtrend has yet to end. Fundamentally, global economy has worsen. Decoupling never really happened and it is history now.
Look at the bright side, opportunity exist when market bottoms out. p/s: you are always welcome to visit my blog for daily market snapshot with my comments and analysis on current market trend. |

the market always trap and retrap in narrow range. this mean we all are at the save side, almost at equal chances with big players, they are directionless. sapu kaw-kaw. Someone FEAR, I must brave.

The auto-bailout fail to be compromised.
But it can have second round talk, remember the 700 billion TARP, also need 2 time to pass? Also, Secretary Treasure can use the 700 billions to bail out auto as well. The 700 billion is a blank cheque after all. |
