QUOTE(cherroy @ Dec 10 2008, 02:04 PM) Same one lah, yeah....tat's my point!!!! aiseh....they always look at the share price to determine whether it's cheap or xpensive.....You buy 1 lots (x100) BAT share at 44.00 = RM4k, commission Rm28 You buy 100 lots ABC penny stock of 0.40 = RM4k, commission Rm28. Some may argue from 0.40 to 0.50 is easy but for a stock to climb from 44.00 to 50.00 is equivalent easy as well. In fact, for 44.00 to climb to 50.00 it can be easier than 0.40 to 0.50 because high price stocks, there are not many retailers around which potential being seller to resist for the upside. But for 0.40 to surge, you need massive volume of buyers because there are plenty of sellers waiting on upside. How often to see selller Q in those penny stock with 10K,20k,30 lots but for a stock of 44.00, you most probably see a few ten lots up to 50 to 100 lots only on the seller side. It is basically not much difference actually, just people mindset tend to think it is "cheap". Just like people say Resort is cheap now with 2.10, but if without split, it is 10.50, then people won't say it is cheap anymore but actual fact both are same. Added on December 10, 2008, 2:34 pm QUOTE(simplesmile @ Dec 10 2008, 01:56 PM) Why start with BAT? hahaha....first of all....BAT due to high div yield.....I have a feeling that the younger generation is more health concious. I would expect the number of smokers over time either due to health concious or expensive cigarettes. number of smokers....well...i dun think it is dropping drastically...i'm part of the 'new generation' wat....my frens still smokes....esp those in construction line, sales etc....it's a 'pre-requisite' additionally.....now ppl more tensed....they could potentially smoke n drink more too.... anyway....all r just assumptions la...hehehee...but looking at current scenario...i think BAT is a safe bet for Div purpose....just my 2cents This post has been edited by kinwawa: Dec 10 2008, 02:34 PM |

QUOTE(eltaria @ Dec 11 2008, 02:25 PM) well, buying shares is not gambling in the sense that 1) i think in gambling...u can also analyze it if u wan....all on 'odds'.....1) There's some skill/educated guesses/knowledge which will improve your odds. Gambling is 100% luck. You can learn to play blackjack, but it's still 100% luck. 2) You control the outcome, the outcome doesn't control you. Whether the outcome is lose a bit, win a bit, lose a lot, win a lot, no win no lose it's all under ur control. But then again, both the buyers and sellers are also educated ppl both have their strategies to make money, once skill/knowledge balances out, you can theorectically say that all that's left are luck for shares....ya....generally it's not meant for gambling but how many really do analyze, knowledgable.....usually, they simply buy one la.....goreng goreng is the word best described this hahaha 2)in tat sense...u r correct anyway......very subjective hehehehe let's c how KLCI perform in the 2nd session |
