citi does offer second card after 1 year ( usually ) , and usual practice is they will automatically send you the card. If not you can try to apply from them, it's seperate limit . Once a cc agent told me that if i use 2 citi cc to prompt apply a new card, the bank will give the total combined limit or higher. Not sure as i didn't apply from him.

I believe I'm a pretty 'big' spender with Citibank.  I also clear my bills promptly and in full.  However, I've never been offered a credit increase nor have I ever got my annual fees waived (without having to request for it!).

It is for those reasons and many others I've decided to stop using Citibank as my primary card.  Well, I hate to say it but it still is sort off my primary card; at least until Amex / MBB allows me to make online bill payments using my Amex CC! *siGh*

Tink, paying you bills promptly and in full is a bad customer for a bank, they gain only the Visa/MC fees and no interest from you. So at least from a bank's point of view, they have no reason to bump up your credit limit.

Funny story, I complained on LYN that Citibank never increased my credit limit and ~2 weeks later they did increase my limit significantly so maybe they're reading LYN and doing background checks to find out my real name biggrin.gif

I think I will switch to AMEX charge card instead of credit card.

Due to busy schedule and sometimes may forget to make full payment on time, say 1 day late and immediately late charges and interest charges will be imposed. For interest charges, it is counted from the date of transaction until the date of payment, not from the statement date (new rule since few months or a year back).

It added more financial burden to cardholders instead of encouraging them to pay in full.

I just reviewed all my past statements and noted this... I am requesting them to waive them.

However, not many merchants accept AMEX due to higher sale charge.

Usually I use credit card to make online bills payment only like TNB, TMB, Streamyx, Maxis etc.

@RockIron,
I'm oredi an existing user of the Amex Platinum Credit Card - will probably stop the card when my 1st year is due and shift to an Amex Gold Card. The only benefit I probably will lose is the 10x points at Platinum Partner merchants.

Also, I hold both Visa & MasterCard with Citibank. I originally applied for the MasterCard and a year later, Visa was offered to me; both on separate credit limits. The last few months, my spending's been on the Visa and in the last update [card was expiring so bank sent me a replacement], the bank did increase my CL by about RM10-15k on that card. I got a measly RM2.5k (or was it RM1k) increase on the MasterCard.

@tishaban,
Yeah, I figured that one out too and decided it was just too troublesome to get a CL increase so I got another card, just in case smile.gif The only thing is I'm really 'kiasu' so I rather accumulate all my points onto 1 account than have it separated everywhere.

Speaking of which, got ur Christmas pressie oredi?! wink.gif

I've applied UOB vox card. however when I receive the card through mail, they actually give me 2 cards, Vox and One cards.

In the end, I didn't activate them and I would like to ask over here, will it cause me to have any trouble in applying UOB cards in future?

Anyone has good organiser to remind us on each due dates of credit cards so that we do not need to set every month.

Set it for once and when we on the computer and if that date falls on, we will get pop up reminder.

Amex PCC annual fee can be waive lah...... Just the charge card cant.
Before ur card due, call the CS to request for it.
The only thing is u must spend on the card and not zero transaction.
Before I accept their pre-approved card, I already comfirm with them.

For my Citi MC plat,I think my CL is too high until they refuse to offer me the 2nd card.(Visa plat)
Anyway lik vin_ann said, let them come instead of apply for it.
This is the way I prefer. smile.gif

To be honest I've never had to ask for a credit limit increase myself. I've never really needed to spend the RM10k or so credit limit that I have in any single month, I guess you guys are really big spenders biggrin.gif

btw, I still have that present for you from like 6 months ago... we never got around to doing lunch before I left for holiday/work...

@RockIron,
I guess Amex just doesn't consider me a big spender even though I've exceeded my available CL 3 months in a row. I did call for a temporary increase in CL and they did extend my credit line by an additional RM20k but that was well, temporary!

@tishaban,
I don't usually use up my entire credit limit - only on very special ocassions *grins* And yes.. did the giver knock u on the head the last time U met him?! tongue.gif How's my beloved anyways? wink.gif

@jack2,
Any scheduler or task organiser should do the trick.

Wow, 20k on top of the 50k/100k credit limit you already have? You are a big spender biggrin.gif Don't worry, the only way to go is up, Amex will probably switch you to their charge cards eventually with no clearly defined credit limit biggrin.gif

Anyway (your) beloved didn't say much. I failed the pull up test, we both decided that after three times in a row at Blue Ribbon sushi we've had enough. biggrin.gif Check out the lobster sashimi picture on my facebook page!

Thanks for this info. I am considering to FD in Citibank to get gold card. May I ask if your card is gold or classic card?
Their website says Gold card in Citibank is entitled/eligible for increase after 6 months but if you got gold card and they did not give you increament on CL then I will just FD to another bank (CIMB or UOB or HSBC).

I've been told, we need to activated both cards together and does it imply that we need to make 12 or 24 transactions in order to waive annual fee?

The reason I didn't activate it is because I already have other 2 cards which got before UOB sent me their cards. I don't want to diversify the points I gain into several cards.

So, does it make any difficulty for me to apply UOB cards in future?

u just use for 12 transaction for both card to anual fee waived.cancel the card will make your record looks bad as others bank will notice this as well.

so my advise is just activated and keep both card la.
