Ah well.... so what's new / happening around here?! The 'oldies' still around? *grins*

@temptation1314, Er.. what poison by what LV?! Eh.. stop talking in codes.. I've been MIA for 2 months and I just got back and voila... this is my first stop oKies.. I better get back onto the actual forum topic before I get labelled as spammer! *grins* So.. what's new on the Credit Card scene? Oh.. Amex has a contest - Win an X6 + 600 iPod Nano's up for grabs...

@temptation1314, I thought there was a different meaning for code LV (had no idea U meant Louis Vuitton) - how come I didn't get mine?! Amex is not too bad; it's gaining 'popularity' and the amount of points they give back is so much better. I've bust my CL on my Amex 2 months in a row and now i'm back to using stoopid Citibank until I clear my Amex bill *grins*

@eviljonz, Amex doesn't beat the other banks when it comes to 'birthday rewards' but their reward points system thus far is good @temptation1314, I beg to differ. I do feel the fire in the ass!! But what irks me more is that I can't use my Amex for anything now until I clear the bill and I'm just unwilling to clear it as I've until the 23rd to do so!!! *grins* @tgeoklin, Yes that's right - Amex's conversion rates are also converted to USD before it's being converted to our local currency so the double conversion rates also makes you lose out *gulps* @cute_boboi, Not all of us are lucky enough to be spending on company account @vin_ann, I didn't go on vacation though can't argue about the spending ! *grins* Sis recently got married and I got her a rather expensive gift - now I'm broke for 2 months *siGh* and all the sales are happening *double siGh* @hye, Missed me?! *smiles* So, have u decided which bank to stay loyal too?

@hye, SCB? Ah.. that's a bank I never really tried. Was a 'Privileged Member' there for about 2 months - had to take the $ out to pay for the house *grins* I don't frequent Mid Valley too much but I did win RM1k shopping voucher from one of the HSBC contest that was running @ Mid Valley - I'd wanted one of the premium gifts they were giving out and ended up buying some groceries and filled in a contest form; it was definitely a surprise but well, I definitely would have been happier if the RM1k was in cash form *grins* @vin_ann, I decided on a Rolex watch for her and a Mont Blanc for her husband and all I got was a measly ang-pow from them! I should have told them the gift will be doubling up as their Christmas and Birthday gifts for the next 5 years!

@Scopio, Have U ored obtained a password for your CIMB Credit Cards? If not, U will need to get them to issue u the password before U can link ur CC account to ur CIMB [or at least that's what I think the above post meant]

@hye, *grins* Sis has their character card; i believe it was one of the first few cards she obtained. Anyhow, obtaining a CC these days seems to be as easy as ever and with your kind of expenses, I'll definitely want to make you MY customer if I were a bank @J'Daniel, Yeah I've no idea Y it's taking so long - sis and her husband recently signed up for the Amex Gold Credit Card but they've not heard from the bank at all. They figured if they don't hear from the bank they'll just pass on the card Perhaps U could contact the bank to check on status of your CC application.

@b00n, If a person's credit rating is good and have no debts, I don't see why applying for a CC is such a problem.

@MilesAndMore, I've enough CC's. Am thinking, perhaps I should move from my Amex Platinum to Amex Gold for next year - don't want to be paying the additional RM800 - this year was fine since I managed to get the watch and well the rest of the other benefits; which honestly isn't too much.
Thing is - I have accumulated close to 350k points on my Amex card - if I make a switch will I lose all the points or will they be transferred?! Anyone can help me?

@hye, Yes..... I definitely have chalked up quite a bit of spending on my Amex card - and to think I was worried about hitting the RM20k spending within 6 months [just to get that free Longines watch]. Anyhow, in order to make up for the RM800 Amex charged me for the card, I'm expecting the Longines watch + I hope to be one of the 600 lucky winners to walk away with the iPod on this latest promotion of theirs *grins* Will definitely check with the bank re ensuring the points are transferred to the other account if and when I stop this account. I really see no benefit being a Platinum member and since Gold is free, why not just get Gold and be satisfied with it PS: I've used Citibank loyally for at least a decade but I have yet to even accumulate 200k. With Amex it just seems like it's so much easier but to be honest, I have spent quite a bit the last 2 months *gulp*

@Reventon, Yes Amex charged me the annual fee in the 2nd month! I haven't received the redemption letter on the Longines watch but I'm very sure I've exceeded the RM20k spending It'll be nicer if I could redeem a 47" LCD TV instead *grins* @TeraPox, Of course we remember U! You're still collecting cards?! @b00n, Involved?! hAHahHA definitely NOT! It's a mere coincidence! @hye, HmmM.. never considered myself VIP but well...... *gulp*

@TeraPox, wAaAa.. U don't want people to start thinking wrongly again do U?! Ah well... I've always been a notebook collector! But seriously, what's up in the CC scene of late?! I think it's good if BNM decides to control issuance of CCs This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Dec 15 2008, 11:06 PM

@vin_ann, I didn't hear anything about the control of CC issuance but someone earlier did mention about banks making it harder for new CC applications. Nah, I don't think any of the new rules will affect existing CC users

@TeraPox, Fresh graduates who put in applications for plastics just to indulge is really well.. asking for it! I never believed in spending tomorrow's $ today.
@zenquix, I somehow believe the RM180k and RM240k is just for show - sooner or later U'll realise they'll take in a reduced (possibly an even much lower) figure! Having said that, I definitely haven't reached such high earning power yet *grins*

@tgeoklin, If U qualify for both U could always apply for both - it's 2 separate cards from 2 separate banks. DA is DA and CIMB is CIMB.

@tgeoklin, Yes DA belongs to CIMB but they operate as separate entities.

@yiivei, U'll be looking at uhm.. Buying Rate because U will need to purchase the foreign currency to pay up the bank In whichever case, when U buy look at the higher rate and when U sell look at the lower rate
