@tgeoklin,
Am sure it's on the ocassional rare moments; and even then U could always pay up your bills first smile.gif  Amex + Citibank combined, I have close to RM100k CL - definitely do not intend to use it up ! *gulps*
*
@Tinkerbel, you will be surprised what I sometimes go thru when on extended trips. There was once I even had to have a temp increse of RM200K after shooting thru the roof. Lucky the bank was very obliging, otherwise would be in very hot soup

Paying ahead is definitely not an option, more so when you do not even have the funds at the time in question. biggrin.gif

@RockIron,
Er.. I usually don't exceed more than 50% of my available CL but I made some rather heavy purchases the last few months hence I used up my total available CL on Amex.

On another note, I just checked.. Citibank gave me an additional RM20k credit line with my renewed CC - weird and crazy bank.  When I wanted it they don't give it to me, when I don't need it, they give it to me !

Tinkerbel,

Finally Citibank has increased for you. Congrats biggrin.gif

Anyway congrats for the 20k CL increased from Citi. Nowadays banks very hard to increase that much CL in once.

Just give them a call; banks nowadays would want to retain the customers rather than having them move to another bank. I know its cumbersome but I make it a point to call my bank annually to cancel that $140 annual fee for my platinum card..

If you wanted to use your credit card overseas or overseas purchase, CIMB DA card do not have transaction fees. Others add 1 to 2% on top of VISA/MC exchange rate.

The only catch I know of CIMB DA card is that you must be a professional or graduate to be entitled to free-for-life annual fee.

As for ATM, Public Bank ATM card can not be used to withdraw cash from overseas ATM machine. RHB very limited. Best is HSBC ATM card.

On several occasion, the currency exchange I got from CC is so low that it is available nowhere else in the world (because it's even lower than interbank rates). Heck, it is not even available to the bank themselves, let alone their customers. When you think about that statement, it's truly puzzling. Hence my original posting asking as to whether anyone here know something I don't.
Foreign merchant ----> VISA/MC -----> CIMB -----> You.
AFAIK, CIMB DA is one of the very few bank that do not earn anything from you for foreign transaction.

The merchant makes money from you. VISA/MC makes money from you. CIMB do not charge transaction fee so do not earn money from you.

Other banks do. HSBC add 1% on top of VISA/MC charges. PBB also 1%. EON adds 2%.

Those are co-brand cards. Usually you need to be a member of that organization to apply.

are you refering to the UOB One Platinium card? if yes, then annual fee will be waived by 12 transactions, provided you also keep you another UOB master card active.

I wonder does MBB MC and Visa wave annual fee can be wave or not ?

I don't see any benefit on visa wave except for touch n go facility. besides, it doesn't give any reward point or treat point as well
